Great video! Thank you. For the water pump torque specs did you say 3-7 ft lbs? How’s the job holding up, no leaks?I just scraped off all the goop someone else left and I would like to do what you did with just gaskets. Thanks
Those cam marks on the back cover never line up perfectly with the gears. You gotta count the teeth between the marks on cam gears and the one on the lower gear behind the harmonic balancer. That's how you know if it's perfect. U can find the number of teeth between marks on the good ol internet. I fought this the first time I did one of these. Bc im OCD. But nissans love OCD.
Thanks for the information. I ended up counting the teeth on the belt as well. I ordered a Gates water pump kit and it came with the belt, and the instructions on the kit were descent.
(TMI) if u find yourself clocking the distributor to a "really advanced" state u need to do the painstaking task of counting teeth and double checking belt tension on all three sections. Even if the marks all line up and are not "off a tooth" it can run wonky and in limp mode, if the tension isn't right. Also the older pre 2001 vg33es are interference motors and the newer (later half of 2001) ( I believe, but check to make are sure) are non interference. I only put this here for those who are looking and fighting with this motor, And it's quirkiness. Hope it helps someone. All this info should be available on the net. And FSM and also if you have access to some of the older Mitchell shop manuals and maybe the internet napa pro demand idk. But its a thing and even shops fight it too if they havent done one before. I have pulled most of what I have learned from paper back shop manuals. After I paid a shop 1200 to change a WP and TB. Then took it to Nissan dealer here in town and paid another 1000 to fix (properly) what someone else "fixed" that had "done a bunch of them". Sorry for the novel.
That was really really good mate!
Thanks man!

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed the video. That torque sounds about right. No leaks, gasket is the way to go.
Started this job as we speak. Anything extra I need to know anyone?
Thanks for the video
Hi Jimmy - Am I missing you doing the changing of the thermostat? I can't find it. I have a 93 SE that I have to do.
starting at 16:00 ending at 17:00 You pretty much just set the thermostat in there with the floating valve facing up.
Very interesting!!
If you have done the timing belt on your 944 , the pathfinder will be super easy
It is definitely much easier.
I Have A 94 is this video helpful?
I’m sure it would be helpful , start opening it up and compare see what you have going on

You better be good to my truck
Don’t you worry. It’s in good hands. 😉
TAlking about putting 22lbs of pressure...you don't do it where you are showing. Do it between the cam pullys like the book shows.
Thanks for the info!
