- how to replace water pump on nissan pathfinder xterra frontier 4.0 water pump replacement removal step by step this job is kind od degerous because of the design the ingeneers made with this engine and water pump the bolts can easyly fall inside the engine so I took off my gloves so I would feel the head of the bolts in my fingers, I loose the bolts a little bit and as soon I was able to grab the with my fingers I grabed the and at the same time getting them out with the socket, I did not use magnet but I tried but I felt insicure, so extreme precautions have to be taken when doing this job.
great vid thank you for the help, never done an internal water pump myself.
Thanks. Awesome tricks 👌👍🙏
This is a very good video. I was like ya I can do this....then I saw the small bolt on the water pump.
super video, thanks a lot
Thank You
When putting back the tensioner do I move rotate the engine counter or clockwise to put slack on the chain where the tensioner is ? And do I need to replace the tensioner while doing this job ?
It’s complicated 😮 good job , need to have patience and be ready for whatever 😂😂😂
Your like 👍 and a new suscrcriber thank you so much sir
Hi, what was the symptoms of this bad water pump? I've got a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder that has a random overheating issue. We have tested it for combustion gas's, it passed. It wants to overheat after about 45 min- a hour of driving. Lower radiator hose stays cold... Thanks for any input!
The timing on the engine won’t be off at the end of when turning engine over by hand , while water pump is off and the tensioner is off ?
Can this water pump go bad without leaking? I hear a scraping noise on the passenger side of the engine bay. While idling from a cold start, the 4.0 Pathfinder has only cold AC no heat. At highway speeds, it only has heat and no AC, with the coolant temperature gauge erratically moving but staying past the middle and then steady at hot.
Does the timing chain need to be in a certain spot ? Does moving the timing chain when changing the water p put the timing out of
Great video and Please let me know where is yr shop -- I will come to you to get the job done if required.
Tape the bolt into the socket, to hold in place the bolt to the socket. Use the blue tape.
Yes I will be paying someone to do this. Excellent video however.
So I pretty much did everything already even took the slack out the chain, took the tensioner off. The only thing missing is pulling out the water pump, its stuck because of the heat, would I be able to use wd40 on it by any chance? Dont know if its safe for the engine. Tbh dont want to pay for it. Also I spoke to some mechanics saying I have to take the whole cover off because taking it off this way in the video messes with the timing on the chain so it will supposedly mess everything else up. Is that true? If its safe to do this way how can I remove the pump? I tried hitting with a hamer and no luck, tried putting the 2 large bolts and it broke the 2 pieces off the water pump. Luckily nothing fell inside the engine. Please help
Do I need to change the oil before I start the bleeding process?
Istart to like Toyota more than before 😂
What a terrible design...
Leave it to Nissan to come up with such an idiotic design for just a water pump.
