I love my SX740 HS. Replaced my Panasonic DC-ZS70 with it. It's great to have a pocket sized super zoom for easily getting up close to things when I don't want to lug around a huge lens for my X-T3
I've got the 730, same but just 1080 and it's so useful. The zoom is amazing for the size/price. If you just want 1 reasonable compact camera, I definitely recommend these.
Nice review. I have been using the much older SX700 as an "Every day - Everywhere Carry". YES, most current mirrorless cameras and DSLRs are way better. But this is super light, super small .. and way better than the smartphone camera. Improvements over my old model: 1. Longer zoom 30X >> 40X 2. 1080HD >> 4K 3. Higher resolution: 16 >> 20 megapixel 4. Fixed Screen >> Tilt Screen Is this line "perfect" .. of course not, but it can do quite a bit and it can fill a niche. For me, it's worth upgrading from my old model as an every day camera.
I just bought this camera for my wife. She can no longer hold her full size canon dslr camera. Great review by the way. It’s been along time since I have left a comment but thanks for the great review.
im not a genius when it comes to cameras but the fact it can zoom so far out is exactly what i want, i am always in situations where i want to record something that is a little far away and my iphone 11 is garbage when it comes to zooming. it also has a 60 fps option at full HD and 720p hd which is amazing!
That sure sounds like decent audio from a built-in mic. By the way, this is the best camera/technology review for the "Average Joe" or "Average Jill" out there. Thanks for doing this for us!
I have had this camera since it first came out. Absolutely excellent in EVERY way but one. It really eats battery power, especially shooting 4K. The battery designed for it is inadequately small.
I personally don't think it's a vlogging camera either. It's more of a quick point and shoot camera. where you quickly take a pic or get a good zoom picture
Bought this a few months ago because of the zoom lens and it works great as a "B" camera or even my primary when I'm just doing my daily walks! I forgot how much easier/faster/better it is compared to my phone. It's a shame that this is the end of the line for compact cameras. I was hoping Canon would put out a 750 model by now.
Hi Marly, are you used the cámara with low light or without light, how are the images? For example did you take photos to the moon? Can you share you experience or comments...
Works pretty much like my Olympus SH-1, + longer zoom, +4k, but less battery life. Nikon A1000 has a viewfinder. Will look at both when my SH-1 gives up (no service available for it).
The compact zoom is the biggest attraction to this camera. Can we get some low light zoom tests? Compact zoom lenses vary. Some focus better in low light than others.
For me, point n shoots in general are interesting until they get north of $300. Then I start thinking used Interchangeable lens cameras...although I will look up super zooms on occasion. That said, I still mess around with my 8 year old Canon SX 230HS from time to time. It works great for a pocket camera and shoots 1080 / 24. If this one checks the boxes for someone there's nothing wrong with that.
Good review. I have used mine for about 3 months and it is all I was hoping it would be. The telephoto images are excellent, I would have to spend a lot more for a larger camera and a lens to do what this camera does out of the box. I am not a professional photographer/videographer but I get the results I want. I upload the images to my IPad and can do a lot with my photo editing to come up with some really striking images. I can connect the card to my TV and watch the images and recording on a larger screen than my IPad. Looking forward to some great wildlife shots.

Thanks for the review. 📷 Canon SX740 vs Sony HX99 please. 👍😊
I don't have the HX99 anymore unfortunately but I think I like how the image out of the SX740 looks better.
Great video. I really enjoyed how you harped on the name. I have the HX730HS addition, Then I upgraded to Canon T6 then GoPro Hero 7 Black, And now use the Canon SL2. 1080 HD is good enough for me. As a visually impaired person who makes Talking head UA-cam videos 4K does not appeal to me at all.
Nice review. What would be the next price level up from this camera in the Canon lineup that would have dual pixel autofocus while being small size and price with a reasonable lens reach?
I saw other videos compare this camera with the Canon Mark 2 g7x it costs a good bit more
@@JalenBlevins ouch on the lot more. thanks for the info. :-)
