- 52Toys Beastbox BB-28 Reaper transforms from a 2 inch cube to an orchid mantis. This figure had a limited release in 2022, and was pretty hard to acquire in the western market. I was very fortunate to get ahold of one late last year, and wanted to show it off!

the colours are stunning
I agree. To be honest, I don’t think I really captured it on camera; the flake paint on the eyes and wings really do have a nice sheen that subtly shifts color when lighting changes.

Wow, that’s really nice of you to say, I appreciate it, Wilgus! Yeah, that’s one thing I really like about Beastboxes: they’re more often than not a clever riff on biology and pop culture, and the thought process behind the character design is interesting. Thanks again!

How’s the quality of the plastic on 52toys? I can’t seem to find an answer
I don't have anything to compare them to directly since Beastboxes are the only thing I collect, but overall I think it's pretty good. I've never had a figure that feels "junky", or has fragile plastic or whatever. There have been a few that feel premium, though - especially the canine combiner set. The only thing I'd caution about is, a lot of the newer figures have a bunch of interlocking tabs to hold one form or another, so when you're transforming it you just want to make sure you're doing the steps correctly and not forcing parts if it feels like it's resisting too much. Hope that helps!
