It's kinda cool to see the different reactions these girls illicit from different fans. You have the older fans that have watched the girls grow from the 14/12 years old girls that they were when they first started to what they are now, and those fans think of these girls as their little sisters, almost like their little daughters even. As such songs like this typically has an emotional response from those fans. I can PROMISE you there are a number of fans that watch this video and tear up every time they watch it. Then you have the newer fans like yourself whom, while you don't get emotional, you DO become awestruck and amazed. I think it's really cool personally how this band reaches out to so many different people and we all have a different reaction, albeit equally powerful reaction to them. One of my favorite Babymetal moments is when even SU was awestruck for a split second and she lost her persona of the Queen. You remember when you commented with Headbanger about her Deathglare and how she truly IS the queen? Well, there is one video where she loses her composure for just a SPLIT second. That is my favorite Babymetal moment. Song name is "The One" (It's a love letter to the fans pretty much) From Tokyo Dome 2016. There's a moment when all the laser lights turn off and the arena goes pretty dark, but, I believe, unbeknownst to the girls, all the fans were given wristbands that lit up when remotely activated by the lights specialists or somebody, and when that moment happened, Su's jaw fell for just a second as she saw all the lights. She VERY quickly snaps out of it and gets back into character, but for just that split second, you got to see a side of her we rarely get to see, and it was magical in my opinion. As for you criticizing yourself on your "horrible" job as a UA-camr. Don't worry, you're already doing a lot better than other UA-camrs. You don't over react like some (it gets fake, old and annoying REALLY fast when they do that), your sound quality is actually quite good, you already rewind a little when you pause to comment, and you seem pretty honest about your reactions. We as the viewers really don't ask for much, and you're already pretty much filling in all the requirements, so don't worry, just keep doing what you're doing. If we have any suggestions or critiques, we'll let you know. Otherwise, just assume you're doing ok! :)
Thank you for that. I appreciate it. I don't consider myself a youtuber (not yet at least), but I think of this process as more of a podcast where I listen to sick new music that is recommended and point out what I notice and am feeling. Between you and me, I also hate all the fake overreacting youtubers tend to do in general, so I wont ever do that lol. I said to someone yesterday, that I guarantee if I had listen to the piano monochrome AFTER learning as much as I have about the girls, then the song would have hit me differently I'm sure.
First of all welcome to Babymetal. It is so gratifying to watch somebody new to Babymetal who just gets it. Kudos for that. Your comments were thoughtful and enthusiastic-a great combo. And no Momo was not an official member yet. Even though she had worked with Babymetal for several years. One thing you'll discover very quickly is there is IMO no band with more lore, legacy and arcana than Babymetal. Discovering all the background to the ladies, band, history etc. is part of the journey. Your comments were a real pleasure to listen to. Especially the attention you paid to Su's voice. It is wonderous and truly like no other. I'm happy to give you my sub. FYI: Babymetal are legendary for their live performances and as such are almost always best to react to live. By the way it was very easy to hang into your video for the whole length. Thanks for this. I look forward to more.
Love your permanent smile watching BM and dude, don't worry about getting stuff wrong or the swearing, be your natural self doing these videos. The BM fanbase is pretty huge and worldwide, you will draw a great community to your channel on this journey, we will help educate you on all the BM history and lore. The joy and positivity the ladies instill to us fans is infectious, making the world a better place. Monochrome has been my number one song ever since I saw this PIA performance on my first bluray I bought, have watched it a ton of times since. The First Take version gets me watery eyed every time bro, incredible. Su's voice and emotion was so raw during it, she has easily become my favorite vocalist ever. A tip I'd suggest during this journey is you watch every video without subtitles so you can focus on enjoying the performance with no distraction. Afterwards you really need to go back and watch every video a few more times to notice and enjoy many things you will miss, plus many songs you will enjoy even more with each listen. Many BM songs I didn't like much after one listen, now I enjoy almost every single one, some grow on you. I could explain the meaning of the song but I'm sure others already have so I'll leave it to them. Again I'd suggest Karate or Megitsune next, I do also agree watching the more recent guide video called "The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024)" by a Fox Song, it's great for learning BM history. Cya in the next one brother! 🦊🤘
Great double reaction - any and every version is so good, the piano version could almost be a different song. I won't go into the deeper meaning of the song this time, that is open to our own interpretations, but it is a song full of hope taking us from our darkest hour when everything seems to be lost and there is nothing, not even the brightest stars can shine through to imagining colour in the black sky, then imagining the sky in rainbow colours and eventually believing we can illuminate the whole world in rainbow colours.🌈 PIA MM Arena is in Yokohama, Momometal's home town - it was also chosen as the place for her to be revealed as the third member (the MM was a clue nobody seemed to pick up on as we still didn't know for sure it would be her until the reveal), so this was her very first concert as an official member - even though she had been performing with them as an Avenger since 2019. I do have a theory about the figures in white - they were providing some backing vocals in support of Moametal. We can have an educated guess at who they were, but we don't know for sure. In my mind the fact they are dressed in white is significant. BABYMETAL have dressed in white 3 times before this and each time was a significant turning point for them. First time they appeared in white was for the last 2 encore songs at Legend Z early in 2013. That was their last concert before they officially separated from their parent group Sakura Gakuin. Second time Yui and Moa started the Legend 1997 concert dressed in white and making an offering in a theatrical piece to the god of metal statue. Legend 1997 was Su-metal's 16th birthday concert but it was also the last stage in their separation and the whole concert told the tale of their and Su's transition from JPop Idols to becoming an independent band and Su giving up her former life to be reborn as a Metal Goddess. Third time was in the official mv for 'Karate' where they were conjuring up their inner demons to fight against. 'Karate' was the lead single in 2016 for their second album and that was a significant step away from the collection of singles they had released in Sakura Gakuin and some new songs that had made up the first album towards their own new and more structured second album. The First Take video was the last one released by Su and Moa as a duo, the figures in white were there at another important change for BABYMETAL - the next video they released was another First Take one, but it was released after Momometal's reveal, so all three of them performed 'The One' unfinished version. 'The One' is a song for and dedicated to the BABYMETAL fans - also called The One of course.
@@Grington300 this is such great info. My first impression was for the figures in white where that they were backup vocals. But it’s clear there was intention behind that white robed trio and I’m all about it.
@ShadeReactsLive Monochrome is about Hiroshima. Suzuka Nakamoto is from Hiroshima prefecture. But Babymetal are Idols and avoid any political statements or controversy. Which is a good idea. They are nice to everyone and downplay the meaning of their songs. Babymetal is for everyone. They have always had a message of unity.
The piano version still gets me every time, no matter how often I listen to it. Su‘s voice is simply the most beautiful sound my ears have ever had the pleasure to sense. And as you said, her clear enunciation really stands out. That’s another thing that I like about that performance: You can see that this is not a coincidence. She is clearly putting a lot of thought and work into making it sound that clear by carefully shaping her mouth, controlling her breath etc. I didn’t get the lyrics‘ connection to the bombing at first. Interestingly, after it had been brought to my attention, the song made more sense and hit much harder. It also felt much sadder, especially considering that Su is from Hiroshima (even though she called it a positive song herself).
@Ryujin170But who ever wrote the song was definitely at least inspired by an event like Hiroshima. The monochrome firework is definitely a nuke or bomb, umbrellas like paratroopers coming down, destroyed buildings everywhere.
@@Thefoxgod9 The person who wrote the lyrics (mk-metal) was different to the music writer (Yuyoyuppe), but yeah it's completely possible the lyrics could have been inspire by that event, or it used it as an analogy and the video director could have seen it as that. But Su didn't know it was about Hiroshima, so it's likely that the lyric writer didn't want it to be viewed as that only, or she probably would have been told before the video was created. I always point to the inkblot patterns in the lyric video and the 'what will we see' line as a semi-hidden message about the subjectivity of the song.
When they started this song in OKC, I pulled my phone out and opened my light app knowing what was coming...but when Su-metal commanded me to take out my phone and turn on my light...the app crashed!!!! I had to manually kill the app, relaunch the app and then turn on my light..but the light didn't come on until just after Su said "Wow...that's Amazing"!! But I did Finally get to add my Light to the Night and Shine at the Dusk of Ragnarok!! More Babymetal Always!! Put your Kitsune UP!! (just a tip for you..during your reactions, if you stop to comment, just hit the left arrow key once or twice to take it back 5-10 seconds before continuing. It makes for better continuity so you are not interrupting anything during the performance. Hope that helps a bit)
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。I witnessed this very performance at the arena where and when Momoko was inducted into BABYMETAL officially. I sang the ♪ oh oh ohoo ♪ part with Momometal with my loudest voice in the show holding my phone. I was in bliss, for sure! The flying drones with cameras that enabled the beautiful aerial cinematograph were manipulated by experts including Ms. Shiraishi. She is a member of team Japan for World Drone Racing Championship. Our Kami Band played in the girls' back. They have supported BABYMETAL since 2019. Japanese fans always appreciate the devoted support like knights by Chris, CJ, Anthony, and 3 bassists (Clint, Ryan, Matt). They are really unsung heroes. In this first take version, the girls proved that they can do anything. They have forced people to headbang with their heavy music and sharp choreo. Now they can depict various images by just singing and project them into the listeners' brain to move people emotionally. Thank you BABYMETAL. And thank you Koba, the BM producer, for your serendipity. Some 14 years ago, you certainly discovered something amazing and sacred for us. Speaking of the three figures in white hood adding some background vocals, they are homage to BM's girlhood with original three girls.
Great reaction! This is one of my absolute favorites from Babymetal! And you guessed correctly, the 1st take happened right before Momo became official 3rd member, so at the time, Babymetal was still technically a duo of Su and Moa. The song is about finding hope in the face of a tragedy _(Monochrome fireworks)._ The loss of hope _(Star that fades)._ The loss of loved one _(Warmth that vanishes)._ What will we see at the end of days _(Dusk of Ragnorak)._ _“No matter how dark the night, the morning will come, so just smile!”_ Beautiful song! Look forward to more! 🤘🦊
@@ShadeReactsLive I know! I was so bummed when they replaced this song with “Karate” at the DC show. Don’t get me wrong, Karate is amazing, but I really wanted to see Monochrome live. I guess I’ll have to wait until next year!
@ LOL! Karate is amazing but I like Monochrome way more, haha. When you check out Karate, do the “Download UK 2016”! An amazing showcase of raw Babymetal in their early days with Kami Band East, in the rain, and no stage (cuz it’s a Festival).
Every song by Babymetal is a story, and is different from every other Babymetal song. You know groups, like AC/DC, where all their music sounds the same. And that's one of the things I love about Babymetal.
Monochrome live is always a different and beautiful experience, i had this experience two times a couple of months ago when they were doing the South American Tour. Just smile and Merry Christmas.🦊🤘🌈🎄
I plan on it! I’ve been hearing that I must watch a few of their other songs first or the guide may spoil the reaction so I’m trying to be careful about that. I’m already in a battle with my Spotify shuffle playlist that keep recommending BM songs lol
Thanks for this reaction, glad you liked it. The piano version was a few days before Momometal joined. 🙂 12:11 it almost looks like leadsinger Su-metal is about to cry but keeps singing. The 3 in white in the piano version video probably represent the past of Babymetal. Before you do the guide, I would recommend reacting to some of the songs from Legend 1997, which is a much earlier show (1997 is Su-metal's birth year, this is the birthday show for her turning 16) like the 3 songs it ended with: Headbanger, Akatsuki, Babymetal Death. This is an automated translation of one the top Japanese comment on the piano version, I think it's part of what makes Su-metal such a great vocalist: I was born with binaural sensorineural hearing loss. I cannot hear vowels and consonants well. I have seen many singers, but SU-METAL is the first singer that I can hear the lyrics so clearly... I was so shocked by Sonisphere in 2014 that I decided to go to a lot of live shows, buy expensive earphones... It changed my life in many ways. I have a lot of bad things to do because of my hearing loss, but I would like to thank SU-METAL for giving me the joy of listening to their songs more than anything else. PS I would recommend to be careful when to voice how pretty they are, lots of videos Babymetal are just kids and it can become creepy if done wrong.
@@autohmae that comment is so great to have an impact on someone in that way. Yeah I need to go back in time with some of the next reactions I do, I think I’ve listened to stuff from 2023 and 2024 only so far.
Great double reaction, and merry Christmas! "Monochrome" is such a crowd pleaser 😊 The "full on Metal" version, I mean. The "f1rst take" version though is a totally different beast. Pure Su-Metal. Hits so differently! She was chosen for her extremely powerful and unique voice, as well as her ability to transport emotions using her voice. She´s a master in doing this. Yes, Momometal wasn´t officially full member yet, that´s the case with the PIA Arena MM (got it? 😉) live performance. And everything after that. She was one of three backup dancers, called "Avengers", to fill in the 3rd spot since 2019, and towards the end of 2020 she was the only "Avenger" left. Some of THE ONE (me included) called for making her a full member for some time, and on April 1st 2023 this wish was fulfilled. She had an appearance on f1rst take channel though, "THE ONE - Unfinished ver. / THE FIRST TAKE". Oh, yes, "The One" should be on your list, too! 😄 Most BM people won´t roast you for not knowing certain things. They will try to explain it to you instead. So, don´t worry 😉 Looking forward to your reaction to "Megitsune" 😁
(Disclaimer: i studied English at school long time ago, so it can be poor. I`m sorry). What is amazing about BM is how welcoming and friendly fandom they have. And i think i know why. To understand and accept BABYMETAL you need an open mind, the ability to push the old boundaries in your head. Either you like pop or metal it doesn`t matter now. You are among friends. That`s what unites theese people of all ages from 10 to 70, from different countries and cultures. I was passing by this band for so long (despite Yuotube suggestions), but RATATATA (their 50/50 collab with Electric Callboy) broke my resistance this spring. I decided to listen to some more of them and fell in love. BM brings happiness and uplifting feel in my beloved heavy music. Never thought i need it, but here i am. As for the meaning of their songs, you must understand that Girls (Ladies already) themselves dont write lyrics and music (except several ones). The stuff is usually made by best songwriters in Japan, picked up and filtered by the founder and producer of BM Key Kobayashi, aka Kobametal. All theese authors can bring their own thoughts and feelings in the songs, including that massive national trauma (of course Japan was not innocent victim but let it be a history. Anyway nowdays Japan is much more pleasant place). Japaneese venues have strict rules of behavior. Those who use their phones and disturb other people can be driven out of place. And BM`s girls do their best in choreo and singing. But outside of Japan they have some more space to have fun and interact with audience. Neverthless their dancing and singing are also top notch. And fancam recordings bring us tons of joy watching theese moments. Good luck!
I can tell you that you are now part of The One (BM fans). You are having the same reaction as the rest of us to the phenomenon of Babymetal which includes shuffling around, crying or teary eyes, sometimes staring quietly in amazement, sometimes headbanging, raising your Kitsunes up, and an almost permanent smile on your face. Welcome to our world. The One will keep you well informed about everything BM so you will never lack the knowledge about what is going on. Enjoy the ride!
looks like my brothers have filled in the details, so I will add this little tidbit: don't sleep on fan cams dude, lol they are a treasure trove of the ladies goofing around while performing and pulling pranks on each other and trying to get each other to break character, it's heart warming and hilarious as well, there is a channel called "Omajination" that has some great compilation videos of fan cams up close, the security guards falling in love and of course the ladies interacting with the crowd at the expense of the choreography sometimes, it's hilarious. Don't worry dude, honest mistakes are welcome here, these ladies are incredible and a gift to the world, and , we found them in the muck of music in this dark, dark world, they are a shining light guiding our way with them as they spread their love to the world. Forever the ONE, #notacult #bestcultever
Didn’t even consider that side of the fan cam footage! I was thinking more that the high quality footage from this show was awesome to better see the choreography and the facial expressions of the ladies while performing. But now I need to go down a rabbit hole of pranking videos because I love that shit. 😂
@@ShadeReactsLive right on brother, there are certain songs that play into the setups for pranks, and a few classics are the fox mask scene from Megitsune, and the mic passing scene from Road of Resistance, and the after the Kami intro for Metali, and the cell phone lights scene in smaller venues during Monochrome or Karate, as well as any crowd interaction part, the ladies just can't help themselves from having fun with fans in the first few rows.
@@ShadeReactsLive Not to mention the latest fancams (US tour)... the ladies entertaining a very young crowd member at the front row (Raleigh, NC, IIRC), the ladies collecting a massive number of plushies, bracelets, flowers (the WHOLE world tour), the ladies being very impressed by the Brazilian crowd (that´s a treat!), and several other things. Feel free to react to this, or just watch them in your free time (without us 😉) to get a much better impression of what it means to be part of a BABYMETAL crowd anywhere in the world.
There are actually 3 versions of Monochrome that feel like 3 different songs. This live version you watched (full of hope) The F1rst Take version which you saw (really see Su-Metal's vocals) The official lyric video which the visuals give a different interpretation ( think about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki) I know you are going to get flooded with many requests eventually reaching all their songs and collaborations but I will add my one choice... From Dusk Til Dawn from Budokan 2021. You will see Su-Metal's vocal supremacy. 🤘🦊🤘
@@Dragonstar-Metal thanks for the breakdown. I could tell a massive difference in how the two songs felt that are in this video. Makes sense that this is a reference to the bombings. Wow.. hits harder now
@ShadeReactsLive BABYMETAL, as far as I know, never officially tell what their songs are about. It is up to each listener to arrive at their own interpretation. Also, some songs can have multiple valid interpretations, which is even more amazing.
@@Dragonstar-MetalYes, I think of the lyric video as just one interpretation: the videographer's. Su herself was surprised by fan interpretations of the song as being so sad and dark. The imagery of the lyric video, I think, caused many to focus on the dark stage set by the instruments and lyrics in the beginning, while Su focused on the hopeful message of adding color to the night sky and just smiling.
Nice reaction, you got a new subscriber here. You still have so so much to discover and be amazed by BABYMETAL. As you said, every single one of their songs is different and remarkable in different ways, is almost like every song is from a different genre, but that's BABYMETAL, a genre of their own. I liked the double reaction, I always felt more reactors should do that when a song has more than one remarkable version. I'd like to suggest to you another double reaction, that will allow you to know more about the old and the new BABYMETAL: Megitsune Official MV and then Megitsune Live PIA Arena 2023 (the opener of the concert you just did). Megitsune is usually the most voted song among BM fans, a real favorite we all love. Welcome to The One and keep your kitsunes up!! 🤘🦊
@@ShadeReactsLive I'd say the MV first as is older and you can see for the 1st time the original trio Su-Moa-Yui, then the live version to see their growth
Great reaction!!! Don't worry about the video length. The Babymetal guide is about 50 minutes long, and I'll tell you that most of us will sit through all of it. At least I will. 🤣 You did pronounce "Megitsune" correct. And since you did this double reaction, perhaps you could do Megitsune's music video and live double reaction. If you want to make some comparison. Babymetal don't have many proper music video, but the one they have are definitely fun. Just note that Megitsune is an older song, so the music video features the younger version of them. And be careful with "Headbanger", since there's multiple version, and special version of it. Best to listen to the original first before listening to the other special versions. This performance of it is the original version; Babymetal - "Headbanger" Live at Budokan 2014. There is also a music video if you want to make comparisons. ua-cam.com/video/RPVmkUEo2IQ/v-deo.htmlsi=IxaA0LodcySEf9G1 Be careful with "Karate" as well since there is one special version with guest. Perhaps you could do a double, or maybe triple reaction for it including the music video. This performance of it is the original version; Babymetal - "Karate" Live at Budokan 2021. ua-cam.com/video/RT-uY-TmGyY/v-deo.htmlsi=ACzhZwV5DqgEBK7I Anyway, keep diving into the Foxhole!!! (Babymetal's version of the rabbit hole) Enjoy!!! 🦊🦊🦊
Thank you! Unfortunately I think I pronounced it 3-4 different ways so if one of them were correct… I’m not sure which lmao. I’m going to do a double reaction of the MV and the Pia Arena Megitsune today! For a longer video, someone recommended a 3/4 song reaction to Headbanger. They mention there are different live versions that I should checkout.
@@ShadeReactsLive All of the pronunciation were correct. Usually people say the end of the word "Megitsune" wrong. You got it right. 😆 Yeah, "Headbanger" has multiple birthday special version, which is a rare thing. Just make sure to go in the right order for better experience. If music video is included, there would be 4 videos. The order would be; -Music video (2013), -Standard live ("Legend 1997", 2013/Budokan, 2014), -Moabanger ("Legend M", 2019), -Momobanger ("Legend MM", 2024). *The "Legend" things are concert names. Enjoy!!!🦊
Nice reaction! The song "Monochrome" is one of my favorite songs with beautiful melody, very positive lyrics, SU's great voice, and MOA&MOMO's choreography, all perfect!🦊⭐️🎸 If you like beautiful music, I recommend "From Dusk Till Dawn"⭐️
I've been a fan for 10 years, and every time they release new music I worry that it'll finally be the album where they just lean into the gimmick and start to copy their earlier stuff...and they never have. Monochrome is such a unique, hooky, bizzare, and beautiful banger. It's looking like they're ramping up for a new record in the summer, nothing officially announced, but they're hinting at something new coming. So you've got a few months to catch up before getting to experice a non-historic BABYMETAL song :) Don't sweat the lyrics on a first listen...you're getting it. The reason they work internationally is because they're so expressive with the vocals and the choreo and the music that the language barrier sort of doesn't matter. You can read em if you want, just don't feel like you need to, it's sort of great to turn off the thinking part of your brain and let the performance wash over you. Monochrome is a bit of an enigma, it seems to be about a lot of things, and something that might help you to work it out is to know that Su was born in Hirosima.
I’ve been told they have released a couple collaborations this year which usually points to an album release. If so, that’s exciting news! And perfect timing for me to start digging into this group
Their very first collaboration was in 2012 with Kiba of Akiba with the song Answer For Animation With You. Their third album, Metal Galaxy is full of collaborations. Sabaton's singer Joakim, Polyphia, F Hero from Thailand, etc. Lately it's been, Electric Callboy from Germany, Bodyslam from Thailand, Bloodywood from India. And i think there's a collaboration with Poppy coming soon also.@@ShadeReactsLive
The lyric version of this is fairly explicit about some of what this song is referencing - although there are hints in the live (e.g. the ticking sound in the intro) and on their screens, Great reaction to what to me is a dark and beautiful song with some hope tossed in at the end :P
Great reaction! And Merry Christmas🤘🦊🎄 SU-METAL has not only a great voice but an unmatched presence and nobility. If she had not met Key Kobayashi, she would have become a musical singer.
At some point, you'll go all the way back to Road To Resistance, Live in Japan 2015, and when you do, I will be here to see you realize just how long these young ladies have been at the top of their game.
Great reaction! You are very observant which always makes for a fun reaction to watch. Your list of upcoming reactions sounds great. Those are older songs so it would be a good opportunity to introduce yourself to Yui. An older version of Megitsune or Karate would work. Of course at some point you have to see their ultra kawaii stuff like 'Doki Doki Morning' (Official music video) or 'Catch Me if You Can'. Young kawaii Babymetal is a whole different thing from Monochrome or BMC but it's awesome. haha
Su is a bonafide Metal Goddess/ Queen. She owns my soul but I know it is safe and she lets me have it back when needed. I would recommend Syncopation and From Dusk til Dawn from Budokan 2021. Legend MM 2024 for Syncopation.
Great reaction to a great double bill . seen this performed and got my phone out 3 times now it gives you an emotional but hopefull feeling . Megitsune next looking forward to it 😁🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼 a sub from me, you're doing great 👍
The first big event that babymetal did outside japan was sonosphere 2014 UK which was moved from a small stage to the main stage with 65k uk metal heads due to the huge interest. The band looked ... Worried. Us uk metal heads can be hard to please. In 5 songs it went from WTF to we want more chant. It is the only video moment where su-metal at the end pauses and looks and realises she killed it. There are video versions of this, they look so small but infinitely confident. The won over so many of us in that moment. The merch stall sold more BM stuff that day than the far more established bands. BMTH helped them out a lot, hence one of the first collaboration.
In case the other 179 comments haven't mentioned it, the other three girls in white robes in The First Take are a spinoff group called Metalverse, although they weren't announced yet at the time. They are MIko Todaka as the lead singer in the center, and their scream and dance supports are Sakia Kimura on the right, Kokono Kato on the left. You have alot of lore to go through. Watch the Unhelpful Guide to Babymetal, it'll bring you up to speed since you've started with some of their later material. Great reaction and I'm gonna watch all of your other videos now!
Don't feel like you have to talk to fill quiet portions like the lead-ins to live performances. That atmospheric music is there to build tension towards the start of the song, and you're robbing yourself of the feeling it creates live, it's not empty filler. Remember how dramatically Monochrome crashed in for the PIA Arena show? Well, it should have been _more_ dramatic for you, if you'd let the intro section breathe and experienced it from the start as intended. Next time you watch that video on your own, do it from the very start, and feel the atmosphere and the building anticipation of what you now know is coming. A tip: when you stop the video to comment, I'd recommend going back five seconds (there's a hotkey) before resuming. Especially if you're stopping in the middle of something to get a thought out immediately instead of waiting for a clear break in the music. You missed something special from Su-metal's performance on the First Take because you split what she was doing vocally in half with a pause, so you actually did not hear it.
Yes absolutely! I will be backing things up after any pauses from now on, someone else also mentioned that. I’m still getting the hang of it, thanks for the feedback 🤘
While, yes the atmospheric music adds to the mood, the ACTUAL, more subtle, reasoning behind it I think is to allow the girls a minute to rest and get a drink before their next performance. Very few bands expel as much energy doing a concert as these girls do, and while you might not see it as much now, when they first were starting out and for the first few years, you'd see these poor girls sweating up a storm come the end of their shows. Now it isn't as bad, and I think a large part of that has to do with these mini intermissions between the songs. These intermissions also allows for the concerts to last longer so fans feel like they got their money's worth more, because, when you go to a regular metal concert or really ANY other concert, the band in question typically will perform for a couple hours, heck, Amon Amarth, even had 1 concert that was over 4 hours. Four hours of JUST Amon Amarth performing, not including the opening band. That's insane! So these intermissions allow the girls to catch their breath a little before their next song I'm pretty certain. It's just done in a very graceful, subtle, and elegant way so it isn't noticed.
So excited for your reactions due to me hearing this group for over 10 years now. Great stuff 🤘🏼🦊🦊🦊🤘🏼 New Sub 🤘🏼 BTW Don’t be afraid to watch and REACT to the same song at different years and shows. You get a real feel on how they grew over the years. Su’s voice, as she has matured has gotten phenomenal. Headbanger for instance has 4 different versions where Su hands the mic over to Moa and Momo to finish the song. Headbanger is about coming of age in the Fox lore. Their first song was iine as a MV. 🤘🏼
Thank you! 🦊🤘 I think I’m going to do one video for all version of headbanger! But not sure yet, I thought there were 3 version, but now I’m thinking there are 5/6 which might be too much lol
Listening to Monochrome live was a privilege I had this year, the girls' interaction with the audience was spectacular as always, Su's control of the audience is masterful.
Is Su one of the best, well lets put it this way, in the 2024 Metal Awards female singer category Su currently has 39% of the votes out of a field of 16 nominees for best female singer, the closest to her has 19% and the other 14 share the rest of the votes.
There are several possible meanings: 1. According to the official video (animation), the art and lyrics of the song could lend themselves to being a message alluding to the episode of the atomic bombs in Japan. Suzuka is precisely from Hiroshima. 2. It is a message of support for all those who are going through or have gone through something sad. It simply moves your soul and helps you shed those tears that are necessary at some point. 3. A dedication to Yuimetal in the piano version. She had to retire due to health problems some time ago, remaining for several years as a duet. This is further reinforced by the three entities holding hands, although it could also mean the imminent introduction of Momometal, or both.
Bro, do you want to see Babymetal in a movie? They feature in several scenes in and are pivotal to the plot of Heavier Trip (2024), the sequel to the Finnish comedy Heavy Trip (2018) about the trials and tribulations of a fictional heavy metal band.
Part of the purpose of the long intros is to give the girls a change to catch their breath between songs. They're super fit, but they still need a moment to drink some water, fix their hair, and wipe off some of the sweat from their performance. A Babymetal show is 90 minutes of high intensity performance with only these small gaps between songs. I was at PIA Arena for this performance and I can tell you it was absolutely magical. Easily the best concert I have ever been to. PIA Arena holds about 12,000 people, so it's on the small side for the kind of venues that Babymetal normally plays in Japan. Usually when they perform in Yokohama, they play Yokohama Arena, but it was booked for another event that weekend, so they had to play the smaller PIA instead. It meant that tickets for this show were particularly difficult to get. Photography and videoing is strictly forbidden at Babymetal shows in Japan. They staff at the venue a quite rigorous in enforcing it too. I've seen people get ejected for filming before. The first time Su-metal told us to pull out of phones, we were all confused, but what the Queen wants, the Queen gets, so we did it anyway even though the announcements before the show all say no phones. The First Take performance was filmed in March 2023, which was before Babymetal Begins (the PIA Arena show), which is when Momoko was announced as the new official third member. At this time this released Babymetal was just Su and Moa, as it had been for the past five years since Yuimetal's departure in 2018. Babymetal never explain what their songs are about. They like to leave it up to the listener's interpretation. There are a few fan interpretations, but no-one knows for sure. Gotta say, I really appreciate your totally non-"UA-camr" approach to the whole thing. It's fun to see someone becoming a fan in real time!.
nooooo dont do the guide spoilers lol at least not until you have done Headbanger,Akatsuki unfinished and Babymetal Death from 2013 Legend 97 a pivotal point in the story of Babymetal in fact just watch the whole legend 97 its totally awesome 😜🦊
First verse is essentially a child's perspective witnessing the atomic bomb explode several hundred feet over Hiroshima. The explosion was so bright it bleached the sky of all colour.. A monochrome firework. 2nd verse is the child alone in the aftermath of the devastation, no power, black rain. 3rd verse is the turn towards hope, creation, possibility and joy. Its a song about impermance, not just of the things we cherish but also the impermance of hardship and that we have a choice in how we move forward.
I think you should have cleared up that the meaning of the song has never been told us by the band itself and the atomic bomb stuff is just fan speculation. Only reason I don't think that speculation is correct is that Su-metal said in a interview last year that she was surprised that people felt that Monochrome is a sad song. And I find it really hard to believe that a person born in Hiroshima of all places would ever be surprised that a song about atomic bomb would be sad to people.
@@Tyyppl Nothing to clear up mate. The song lyrics clearly match descriptions of atomic bombs and the subsequent fallout. The video clearly depicts an atomic bomb blast, the fallout and finishes with a Hibakujumoku (Survivor Tree). The only reason you have to doubt it is a misunderstanding of the context of what Su had said. I agree with her: It's not a sad song. It's a heartfelt song. The song isn't about the atomic bomb and death; it's about hope. Her surprise is likely due to Western audiences largely lacking dialectical thinking and unable to conceive that a positive song could contain a heavy backdrop.
@@danbadd Even if your theory was right I think it's still nice to atleast mention that this isn't something babymetal has ever confirmed (or denied) and it's still speculation. I personally just don't like putting words in artists mouth.
The monochrome firework is a metaphor for an unexpected event that drains the color from your life. The imagery from the LV and reference to Ragnarok are at the extreme but could be a more personal loss. One could maybe imagine that Yui's departure was their monochrome firework but now they are free to repaint the sky with colors of their choice.
btw - Babymetal fans are super nice (both in person at concerts, and in comment sections) because Moa-Metal will glare at mean people. Their crowd control is legendary across all platforms.
Babymetal songs tend to be intentionally left open to interpretation, so don't stress on trying to figure out the one correct one. Speaking of musical theater: arguably, Babymetal is musical theater, but Su has actually performed in a musical stage play (The Adventurers (冒険者たち, Bōkenshatachi) in 2009/10). You can find footage of it on UA-cam.
Great reaction, subbed. When it comes to Babymetal the more reactions the better. There is a trend for double or even triple reactions happening for Babymetal, and they seem to go down well. 1 is fine, 2 is good, but 3 is the magic number if possible. Some songs have equally good MV's and live performances both old and new. Megitsune, Karate and Doki Doki morning are prime examples of having all 3. You could do the MV, Old performance with Yui and the most recent performance with Momo. I would watch all 3 for sure. But there are some songs that are only in one live format like Rondo of Nightmare or Believing, or have an MV but are only in in post Yui era like BxMxC. I'm sure fans will recommend the best choice of perfromances.
Love this idea! I think I’ll do test this out with the Megitsune reaction I plan to do today. I’ll do the MV, an older performance and then a newer one. I worry it might be too repetitive for the audience watching to listen to me reacting to the same song 3 times, but I’ve learned over the past couple of days that this community is way more devoted than any other fan base. So I think I’ll do that today!
@@ShadeReactsLive Cool. I know that longer term fans fans will probably appreciate it, we have seen some of these songs hundreds of times lol. I'm not sure about more casual fans, but they can watch whatever parts they want to see. Also listening to the song multiple times makes the following live versions better for the reactor because I've seen it happen. They just build on top of each other. Like I said, not every song needs multiple versions. some only need one, but some classics are worth it. It looks like this reaction got a good reception anyway.
Im glad they are getting new fans weekly. I'm also a fairly new fan. I didn't even really know much about them until RATATATA! The Fox Hole is deep! But BABYMETAL is known for their live performances!
Babymetal songs are about what you personally feel and think they are about. The lyrics often leave room for interpretation. The Hiroshima specific / war in general comes from the official lyric video that shows a devastated city and uses lots of symbols for example towards the end a single tree that survived which can be seen as a reference to a tree that stand in a park in Hiroshima that survived the atomic bomb. Also monochrome firework can point towards a nuclear explosion as people say such an explosion is a bright white flash that makes all colors fade. But the video apparently is the interpretation of the director. What the songwriter had in mind, we don't know.
They've come a long way since they were kids. You should do their very first song, Doki Doki Morning. When they were like 12 and 10 years old. HUGE difference in the "vibe" of what Babymetal started out as, and what it's become. Also, as you seem to be headlong into this journey, maybe it's time to do a Babymetal guide video for some history and facts. An Unhelpful Guide To Babymetal, I think it's called. Anyway... One thing Babymetal did for many of us is open up the world of Japanese metal and music in general. Especially the all female metal bands, alternative idol groups (BABYMETAL actually falls into this group), and amazing musicians. Bands and songs to check out: Hanabie - Tousou Band-Maid - Hate? (Live) Nemophila - Rise Lovebites - Hammer Of Wrath Passcode - Groundswell Maximum The Hormone - ALIEN I hope you are willing to check these out. I guarantee a deep DEEP rabbit hole.
Please react to: "From Dusk Till Dawn" (Budokan 2021) "Akatsuki" (2021 Budokan) "Starlight" (2021) "Megitsune" (PIA Arena 2023) "No Rain No Rainbow" (Budokan 2021) "Karate" (Budokan 2021) "Iine" (Legend 1997) by Gans Tomasn, for the best crowd experience 😄 Would be nice to see these reactions from you soon 😊😅
Haha! Another fellow kitsune who fell into the fox hole. They’re so incredible! You have a lot of awesome stuff ahead, ma Man. Karate, Headbanger, Megitsune, Rondo of nightmares… I envy you that you discovering these gems is still in your future. 🤘🦊
Welcome to the Foxhole 2025 is going to be a good year for you i am almost envious that you have a wonderful journey in front of you learning more about the one and only Babymetal 🦊
I love longer videos! 27 minutes is great. Btw you should check out the Legend MM version of “Metali” it should be on the For The Fox God channel. Prepare to be blown away by the amazing instrumentals and then a groovy ass rock/metal song featuring Tom Morello from Rage against the machine!
So what is Monochrome about? Short answer: we don't know. But, there's the lyrics video, it depicts the monochromatic firework as an atomic bomb mushroom looming over a city, the same city is seen destroyed as the song enters the second part, there's the black rain of a fallout and there are ☂️ umbrellas falling from the sky, they are a shield against the rain, and arguably a symbol of hope as the last shield against the effects of the war. There is a sequence where we can see the atmosphere of the planet burn, pretty much like in the movie Oppenheimer. There are images of the loto flower, which symbolize many different concepts, among which revive, reborn. And then we see the tree, which is the Hibakujumoku, surrounded by other burned trees. IMHO it's not the Tree of Life from the Norge tradition, even though there's a reference to the Ragnarok, meaning apocalypse cause, as said, the tree is surrounded by dead, burned down trees. So, is it about Hiroshima bombing? Not specifically, though it's referenced, it's definitely about hope during the harshest time, hope incarcerated by the children who survive the most dreadful horrors of war. Indeed, during war, colours fade away, and everything becomes dull and monochromatic. Is it a positive song, as SU said? Definitely, even through despair, hope leads the way to a new, peaceful time, and, in the end, we will have it, we will bring back the colours of a peaceful world. During the show, on many occasions, in the middle break, SU begins saying: "Please😅, help me bring some light into this dark, dark world." 🤘🦊⚡️
Hey Bro, there's a band that I think would be right up your alley. They're called The Warning, they're 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico who are the fastest rising hard rock band on the planet. You should check them out, I guarantee you won't regret it 🤘
The lyric video is seen as a tribute to the Hiroshima nuclear victims. But, alas, WWII remains a sensitive topic: Japanese right & left wings, plus neighboring Korea & China, all exploit the issue for nationalist purposes, let alone guilting Americans whose forefathers had dropped the bombs. As a result, both Su (who's from Hiroshima) & Kobametal have declined to acknowledge the reference, saying it was the MV director who chose the war imagery. The First Take piano version is seen as an ode to BM's younger selves. The hooded-girls motifs, as well as some of the props & thematic aesthetics, are reminiscent of BM's Karate MV (2016), which Su had already corroborated as themselves metaphorically battling 'monsters' (haters) & encouraging one another (a la BM's Ijime Dame Zettai (2013) which had addressed teenage bullying). Except the online hectoring from metal gatekeepers & snobbish journalists were genuine in real life. BM had initially rebutted the brickbats by unleashing the astounding 'Road Of Resistance Live In Japan' at their domestic homecoming in early 2015 (when the girls were merely 17 & 15). BTW There's a seismic plot twist at the end of the Karate MV as well. The 2013 PIA Arena live version (subsequently repeated at future BM concerts) is seen as a celebration with the fans who have accompanied them throughout their long career. BM had endured a difficult transition in 2018 (when Yui was mysteriously sidelined & ultimately quit the group; beloved Kami guitarist Mikio Fujioka also died after a tragic fall) & underlying uncertainty between 2018-2023 (officially a duo, but briefly performed live as a quartet, then septet, then continuously with a rotating 3rd member) when the uneasy ambiguity caused many supporters to drift away. Fortunately, their old concert videos would win over a new generation of online fans during the pandemic.
I would recommend that you check out "Black Babymetal" this is a sub unit of BM from the Yuimetal era of the group. It's Moa and original member Yui taking the lead vocals on 4 songs which also happen to be some of their heaviest . The 4 songs are...Onedari Daisakusen, GJ!,Sis Anger and 4 No Uta (Song 4)
This is all recent stuff. You should do some of their older stuff. Yui Mizuno is great too. She left in 2018. Doki Doki Morning MV was recorded in Oct 2011. They're super young.
Momoko was not an official member of BABYMETAL at this time (even though she was performing with them since 2019). Yui Mizuno was the original third member but left in 2018 because of health reasons - Suzuka and Moa still consider her a member as they were like family. Suzuka and Moa continued as a duo until April 1 2023 when Momoko became official. No one could just step in and replace Yui so they waited 5 years before they committed to make sure Momoko was the right fit in terms of talent, work ethic, discipline and character. Momoko has turned out to be the perfect choice.
That little moment where they're on stage looking at the phone lights, I still get a little pang seeing Su and Moa motion for Momo to join them. I'm sure it was just a hiccup in the stage plan from Momo but it feels like it symbolized her being welcomed in (she had just recently been announced as the new 3rd member).
Nice to see you so soon again Shade-Metal!🤘🦊🤘 PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE react to 'A Quick BABYMETAL Guide for the New & Probably Lost Fans' by super-fan Omajination🦊 If you had before this reaction you would have known why no Momo and understood the lyrics better based on the knowledge that Su-Metal is from Hiroshima. Just that little bit of background info can be so helpful in getting the best experience with this band. Perhaps on your own sometime check out the lyric video of this song. . the visuals will help in better understanding it. Hope you will take the 10min . . . it will free your mind of many questions allowing you to "just feel " the song. Thank you for the reaction and Merry Happy Christmas to you🦊 and your skulk! (term for group of foxes🦊🦊🦊) . .lol PS Here is the link again: ua-cam.com/video/Wg2czdgQclA/v-deo.html 🤘🦊🤘
I plan to react to the Quick Guide! That will likely be after Megitsune and headbanger though as I heard the guide can spoil the reaction to the songs.
@ShadeReactsLive Excellent. Yes..some longer guides can, but this 10min one does not. Thanks for responding and I' look forward to Megitsune and headbangggggeeeeerrrrr! 5x g 5x e and 5x r. That adds up to 15. Hmmn? I wonder what that is about? Kitsunes up! 🤘🦊🤘
As you do not shy away from doing multiple reactions in one video, may we request something like: - Megitsune Official Music Video (to see from where they started) followed by one of the live performance 2023 PIA or newer - Headbanger: As somebody already mentioned, there are at least 6 different (special) versions out; so my recommendation Headbanger Legend 1997 (from 2013) followed by Headbanger Legend MM (from 2024; called Momobanger) and Headbanger Legend M (from 2019; called Moabanger); The other three (that I know of) would be: - Headbanger (Live in Cologne 2014, very rarely reacted to) - Headbanger (Live in Paris 2014, very rarely reacted to; hard to find a good quality video) - Official Music Video
Its theme is Hiroshi.a and they use a japanese Trick. It is a Language of Homophones . In European Languages Homophones are usually strongly filtered in japanese not, so they can transfer multiple meanings at the same time. And since they are zhe biggest japanese Group outside of Japan, they see themselvesas an Ambassador of their culture.
Hey sir, I loved this video! Doing live reactions to Babymetal is always challenging because they're sort of built on being a sensory overload experience. Too much to catch or pay attention to in one go through. Fans argue over the actual meaning of the song but some Babymetal lyrics are meant to be ambiguous and be interpreted for your own immediate experience. Some say it's about the bombing in Hiroshima. Su herself said it was meant to be uplifting and hopeful. You hit on a lot of points in this multi reaction though! Yep, Moa being gorgeous isn't missed by many 😂. They play larger than life characters on stage, but their own playful cute happy personalities shine through. They've been stage performances since their early teens of course and now they're just expert puppetmasters! I still stand by my personal anecdote of seeing them in Houston and Dallas last year. No amount of watching live videos can prepare you for how powerful their stage presence physically feels in person! Truly a major antidepressant!! ❤❤
As a certified Moa girl, isn't she just exquisite? And she's so amazing live. She always gives 110%, she's always engaging with the audience, she's always genuinely happy on stage. (Also, she gave my hair bows a thumbs up. XD Best moment ever. She's so the sweetest.) Captivating as Su is, I can never take my eyes off Moa. (Also love Momo to bits, in case any Momo stans feel like I'm not giving her her due. So thrilled she's official now.) As far as the meaning of the song, like most of their songs, it's super open to interpretation, and that's on purpose. It's supposed to mean whatever you need it to mean. That said, there are theories, and the imagery in the official video hints at a possible connection to the WWII bombings, but the gist, as with so many of their songs, is about perseverance and hope. 🤘🦊🤘
Good reaction! I really like Babymetal! I'll leave some song recommendations, in case you want to react: Babymetal - Rondo of Nightmare (Budokan 2014 Live) Eng/Esp/Ita Subs Babymetal - Headbanger (Moa Version / Legend M) Eng Subs Babymetal - Akatsuki (Budokan 2021 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Road Of Resistance (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Light And Darkness (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Metal Kingdom (PIA Arena 2023 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Megitsune (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Headbanger (Momoko ver.) (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Subs Babymetal - Syncopation (Legend MM 2024 Live) Eng Sub The videos I mentioned can be found on the channel: For The Fox God
The For the Fox God channel is amazing! Thanks for sharing, I actually JUST released my reaction to Megitsune. I did 3 versions, the MV, the 1997 show, and the Pia Arena... ironically not the Legend MM show. But you should check it out if you enjoy watching me lose my mind to how good these girls are.
Great video! Looking forward to future reactions as you make your way through BM's discography! I envy your position being able to hear all 60+ bangers and see the various performances and special versions of songs for the first time! I am sure you have tons of great suggestions, I know THE ONE won't steer you wrong. I love watching reactors experience different versions of songs or see multiple performances from different eras, it makes for a more thorough experience. 🦊🦊🦊 My personal request/recommendation for when you get around to Headbanger!! is to do a mega-reaction where you get to see four special versions of the song - I promise it will be worth your time and will allow you tee see all four girls shine through the years: Version #1 - Legend 1997 (from 2013 - hear the original version in all it's glory): ua-cam.com/video/nhGOY46On8c/v-deo.htmlsi=rWpkGCOvPrOKzRm7 Version #2 - Legend M (from 2019 - Moa's version for her 20th birthday): ua-cam.com/video/s-oK5KdjSQ4/v-deo.htmlsi=vAfGAhulEycRiOcU Version #3 - Legend MM (from 2024 - Momo's version for her 20th birthday): ua-cam.com/video/19nntDDbYdg/v-deo.htmlsi=D8AjwdFb8Jdno2Zx Version #4 - Legend 1997 (from 2013 - theatrical opening to a show and remix version that will make you smile for sure): ua-cam.com/video/OWggmY2BDhE/v-deo.htmlsi=Cfh0lc69ItyjTKyw ***Bonus Versions if you're interested for reactions or on your own*** #1 - BABYMETAL Returns (from 2023 - my personal favorite version, but a standard version): ua-cam.com/video/4Xbt9l0WdJg/v-deo.htmlsi=MkDLm-L_SngEOiCZ #2 - Yui's version for her 15th birthday (2014) - unfortunately no proper footage exists, so the quality is not good for reactons): ua-cam.com/video/dALBl50wH1w/v-deo.htmlsi=YNrBKriIWj9iGs7k
At the time Su and Moa recorded this performance, they were still a duo. Momo performed on live shows with them, but wasn't an official member of BabyMetal yet. The 3rd original member, Yui, had to leave the band in 2018 due to health reasons. Su and Moa continued on as a duo for awhile and then 3 new girls were brought in just to perform the choreography during live shows. The 3 rotated in and out each doing various songs. The Avengers didn't sing, just did the choreography. The were called The Avengers. Momo performed the most number of shows and was eventually made a permanent member in April, 2023.
BMTH kingslayer ft Babymetal live in tokyo Megitsune music video (older song shows their beginning plus its there 2 best song imo Rondo of Nightmare with mischiefs of God intro (best song showcasing the vand members). And ill throw in a new group for you since your already doing Japaneae music XG - Howling Music video (They are all girl group from japan, based in Korea, songs are 100% english. Oh! The music video alone is worth watching without the audio, best edited video production for 2024!) New mini album dropped last month
Yui appeared the last time in 2017. Koba left hervtimr till 2018 to determine if she wanted to return or not.and in 2018 she confirmed that she would not come back.
To be precise this is one of thecreasons why there songs are often exzremly difficult to translate. They like to play with themes that are not really translateable.
For Sue this is the city she grew up in, but at the same time this the city that first learned what atomic weapons are.. in Japanese it is possible zo transfer both meanings at the same time. And they like to play with these themes.
I don't agree with the standard interpretation usually given to this song. To me, the first time I heard it, it struck me as as a longing to be with the one you want, and the frustration and sadness because you can't. To my knowledge, no member of BM has ever said it's about the nuclear bomb, and it never struck me as such. It's about loss, yes, but I hear it as a lost or unrequited love Just my 2¢. Nice Reaction Edit: You mentioned Karate in your wrap up. There are many excellent versions out there, but I think you should watch the Live at UK Download 2016 for your first reaction. The interaction between the girls and the crowd is second to none, and a master class in stage presence and crowd control. again, my 2¢ 🦊🦊🦊
The lyric video suggesting it's about the bombing of Hiroshima is just one interpretation of the song: the videographer's. Babymetal tend to leave their songs open to interpretation (Koba has even said so in interviews) and this one is no exception.
@ShadeReactsLive Just wait until you react to Akatsuki Unfinished, tears might be shed lol
Thank you 🦊🤘 I was self conscious about the longer video. I’m glad everyone seemed to like it!
🤘🦊 thank you! I noticed that as soon as they start performing I have a consistent smile
great double reaction - thank you ---
🤘🦊
Dude your Babymetal reactions are awesome! 2021 Budokan Akatsuki please. An amazing SuMetal solo.
Thanks! YES! Apparently this needs to be done asap. Been getting a lot of comments about this particular performance. 🤘🦊
@@ShadeReactsLive 2014 Budokan Akatsuki as well and if you can do legend 97 Akatsuki unfinished first 😉
Road of resistance
Great double reaction - any and every version is so good, the piano version could almost be a different song. I won't go into the deeper meaning of the song this time, that is open to our own interpretations, but it is a song full of hope taking us from our darkest hour when everything seems to be lost and there is nothing, not even the brightest stars can shine through to imagining colour in the black sky, then imagining the sky in rainbow colours and eventually believing we can illuminate the whole world in rainbow colours.🌈
PIA MM Arena is in Yokohama, Momometal's home town - it was also chosen as the place for her to be revealed as the third member (the MM was a clue nobody seemed to pick up on as we still didn't know for sure it would be her until the reveal), so this was her very first concert as an official member - even though she had been performing with them as an Avenger since 2019.
Please continue Grington's commentary on BABYMETAL in 2025!🦊😉 Merry Christmas🎄

Her voice is highlighted in the piano version for sure! Just incredible
Su was born in Hiroshima, and the song is about living with hope and a better life in post-WW2 Hiroshima.
That's only one valid interpretation of it. The song is open to multiple interpretations and doesn't have a definite known meaning.
Babymetal fans are known as “THE ONE” and once you get addicted you are a part of it 🤘🏼🦊👍🏼
Queen SU! Enjoy your BABYMETAL journey!
Super unfortunate timing for the app to crash man 😂
Thanks for the tip! I’ll try and be better about that! Still getting the hang of it lol
This comment is great, it’s like getting a “behind the scenes” experience learning about the drone work. Haha. Thank you!
Her singing voice melts me.😊
Great reaction! This is one of my absolute favorites from Babymetal! And you guessed correctly, the 1st take happened right before Momo became official 3rd member, so at the time, Babymetal was still technically a duo of Su and Moa.
The song is about finding hope in the face of a tragedy _(Monochrome fireworks)._
The loss of hope _(Star that fades)._
The loss of loved one _(Warmth that vanishes)._
What will we see at the end of days _(Dusk of Ragnorak)._
_“No matter how dark the night, the morning will come, so just smile!”_
Beautiful song! Look forward to more!

Thanks for this reaction, glad you liked it.
The piano version was a few days before Momometal joined. 🙂
12:11 it almost looks like leadsinger Su-metal is about to cry but keeps singing.
The 3 in white in the piano version video probably represent the past of Babymetal.
Before you do the guide, I would recommend reacting to some of the songs from Legend 1997, which is a much earlier show (1997 is Su-metal's birth year, this is the birthday show for her turning 16) like the 3 songs it ended with:
Headbanger, Akatsuki, Babymetal Death.
This is an automated translation of one the top Japanese comment on the piano version, I think it's part of what makes Su-metal such a great vocalist:
I was born with binaural sensorineural hearing loss.
Most BM people won´t roast you for not knowing certain things. They will try to explain it to you instead. So, don´t worry 😉

I'm looking forward to surprising you with the best song in BABYMETAL, Road of Resistance😊
Good luck!
Glad to be enjoying this along side you and so many others! 🦊🤘 thank you for following along!
Nice reaction! This song is so emotional, and this piano version always makes me cry.
looks like my brothers have filled in the details, so I will add this little tidbit: don't sleep on fan cams dude, lol they are a treasure trove of the ladies goofing around while performing and pulling pranks on each other and trying to get each other to break character, it's heart warming and hilarious as well, there is a channel called "Omajination" that has some great compilation videos of fan cams up close, the security guards falling in love and of course the ladies interacting with the crowd at the expense of the choreography sometimes, it's hilarious.

I agree! Absolutely amazing
There are actually 3 versions of Monochrome that feel like 3 different songs.
This live version you watched (full of hope)
The F1rst Take version which you saw (really see Su-Metal's vocals)
The official lyric video which the visuals give a different interpretation ( think about the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki)
I know you are going to get flooded with many requests eventually reaching all their songs and collaborations but I will add my one choice...
@@ShadeReactsLive Su comes from Hiroshima and one of her Grandparents is a surviver of the bomb 🤘🏼🦊
@@ShadeReactsLive It hits even harder when you realize that SuMetal was born in Hiroshima..
Queen Suzuka, she is amazing, incredible!

Don't worry about the video length. The Babymetal guide is about 50 minutes long, and I'll tell you that most of us will sit through all of it. At least I will. 🤣
You did pronounce "Megitsune" correct.

Nice reaction! The song "Monochrome" is one of my favorite songs with beautiful melody, very positive lyrics, SU's great voice, and MOA&MOMO's choreography, all perfect!🦊⭐️🎸
If you like beautiful music, I recommend "From Dusk Till Dawn"⭐️
I've been a fan for 10 years, and every time they release new music I worry that it'll finally be the album where they just lean into the gimmick and start to copy their earlier stuff...and they never have. Monochrome is such a unique, hooky, bizzare, and beautiful banger.
It's looking like they're ramping up for a new record in the summer, nothing officially announced, but they're hinting at something new coming. So you've got a few months to catch up before getting to experice a non-historic BABYMETAL song :)
Don't sweat the lyrics on a first listen...you're getting it.

And rondo of nightmare
please 🥺
The 3 in the white was a hint to their soon to be trio again!
Suzuka is from Hiroshima. Her grandma surviwed "the bomb". Maybe that will give you some insight on lyrics.
Their first song was iine as a MV. 🤘🏼

The PIA is a stadium is 17k seated stadium , though not all was used due to occluded view. There was an additional 10-12k standing.
There are several possible meanings:
I love all three possible meanings to be honest.
Bro, do you want to see Babymetal in a movie? They feature in several scenes in and are pivotal to the plot of Heavier Trip (2024), the sequel to the Finnish comedy Heavy Trip (2018) about the trials and tribulations of a fictional heavy metal band.
Umm YES. 🙌
The PIA is 17k seating stadium, as defined in the stadium information. There were additional 10k standing.
I'm laughing even here😂
nooooo dont do the guide spoilers lol at least not until you have done Headbanger,Akatsuki unfinished and Babymetal Death from 2013 Legend 97 a pivotal point in the story of Babymetal in fact just watch the whole legend 97 its totally awesome 😜🦊
@@jwa725 That is the general sentiment of the song, yes. It uses the backdrop of the most extreme hardship as an allegory for this.
btw - Babymetal fans are super nice (both in person at concerts, and in comment sections) because Moa-Metal will glare at mean people. Their crowd control is legendary across all platforms.
ive been so happy with the fanbase so far. Everyone has been super welcoming and taught me so much already!
The time has come,!
please take a look at the BABYMETAL Guide!(40min)😁
The 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘰 Extensive Guide to BABYMETAL (April 1st 2024)
Megitsune's music video is worth a look too. Then you can get a glimpse into their early years.
Doing this today! Stay tuned 🦊🤘
How cool!

They did a song with Rage against the Machine?! Thats awesome! Added to my list immediately!
Just Tom Morello, not the full band but yeah. The influence is definitely there.
@@Thefoxgod9 That's pretty cool, ill check it out. Thanks!
During the show, on many occasions, in the middle break, SU begins saying: "Please😅, help me bring some light into this dark, dark world."
🤘🦊⚡️
Don’t think…. Feel. Momo was still only a back up dancer, so there were no vocals from her in the first take version.
There always seems to be a 90% chance new reactors will immediately notice how pretty Moa is, lol
The quality of this performance really highlighted how pretty they all are! But Moa stood out to me haha.
She’s drop dead gorgeous ❤
Hey Bro, there's a band that I think would be right up your alley. They're called The Warning, they're 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico who are the fastest rising hard rock band on the planet. You should check them out, I guarantee you won't regret it 🤘
Hell yeah 🤘 thank you!
*MOA* is unreasonably attractive.
Oh that’s cool, I’ll check it out!
This is all recent stuff. You should do some of their older stuff. Yui Mizuno is great too. She left in 2018. Doki Doki Morning MV was recorded in Oct 2011. They're super young.
Thanks! I plan on it 🦊🤘
#notacult
@@rah2287 seems like they made the right move! Everyone seems to love Momo from what I’ve seen

As you do not shy away from doing multiple reactions in one video, may we request something like:
- Megitsune Official Music Video (to see from where they started) followed by one of the live performance 2023 PIA or newer
- Headbanger: As somebody already mentioned, there are at least 6 different (special) versions out; so my recommendation Headbanger Legend 1997 (from 2013) followed by Headbanger Legend MM (from 2024; called Momobanger) and Headbanger Legend M (from 2019; called Moabanger);
The other three (that I know of) would be:
- Headbanger (Live in Cologne 2014, very rarely reacted to)
- Headbanger (Live in Paris 2014, very rarely reacted to; hard to find a good quality video)
- Official Music Video
Yes! I will do more double reactions! This was fun and seems like a lot of people enjoy this format as well 🦊🤘
Its theme is Hiroshi.a and they use a japanese Trick. It is a Language of Homophones .
Seeing them live would be incredible! I’m jealous!
So thrilled she's official now.)
As far as the meaning of the song, like most of their songs, it's super open to interpretation, and that's on purpose. It's supposed to mean whatever you need it to mean. That said, there are theories, and the imagery in the official video hints at a possible connection to the WWII bombings, but the gist, as with so many of their songs, is about perseverance and hope. 🤘🦊🤘
Each performance I’ve watched, all three girls look like they are just having the best time ever. It’s amazing!
Good reaction! I really like Babymetal!

Two hints about the meaning of this song.
-She's born in Hiroshima
-the year 1945
At the time Su and Moa recorded this performance, they were still a duo.

Funny enough, Kingslayer live in Tokyo was the first video I reacted to! I also just did Megitsune. You should check them out on my channel!
That’s completely fair - I can appreciate that though. Especially when the music speaks regardless of lyrics
Nice Reaction
Edit: You mentioned Karate in your wrap up. There are many excellent versions out there, but I think you should watch the Live at UK Download 2016 for your first reaction. The interaction between the girls and the crowd is second to none, and a master class in stage presence and crowd control. again, my 2¢ 🦊🦊🦊
please please react to Rondo of Nightmare 🥺🥺🥹🥹🙏🏻🙏🏻🦊🦊💜💜
I should add, Monochrome is Sus Song. She is from Hiroshima and this is the theme of the Song.
The lyric video suggesting it's about the bombing of Hiroshima is just one interpretation of the song: the videographer's. Babymetal tend to leave their songs open to interpretation (Koba has even said so in interviews) and this one is no exception.
