Greetings! I have tried so many Bass teachers online and by far Mr. Brown is the best! Mr. Brown is truly a bass instructor for beginners, I'm so impressed with his teaching style. I am 62 years old, and I am using bass for therapy. Theretofore, I am going to call him Dr. Brown the Bass Doctor. Dr. Brown You're a blessing. Please keep this series going. I am Just starting to learn bass now, and your patience, the tempo, and close-up to the fretboard when explaining is excellent, perfect for me, I really appreciated it. My God continue to bless you with that special talent. Respectfully, Ramon
Same here... even if I am juuuuust a bit younger. A bit stuck with guitar learning so far and I find practicing the bass far more satisfying. Rich is a blessing for us.
I have tried so many Bass teachers online and Mr. Brown is the best! There is something about his voice, pace, demeaner and personality that I totally relate to. if he's selling it, I'm buyin it! Donating now!
There are people who can teach and those who can’t. You have natural ability, patience even perfect voice tone to be a teacher. Thank you so much! Please don’t stop;)
Thks. Appreciate you slowly taking your lessons through. Many bassist seem to just flaunt their skills forgetting their audience can’t play, your lesson is well absorbed.
You, sir, are a godsend to this 59 year old newbie bassist wannabe (and probably as well as everyone else who stops on your channel). Your lessons are awesome and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for them!
Great lessons, basics first always. Retired professional drummer here, after 40+ years of just drums (and percussion) my love for the bass can no longer sit idle, let the funk flow!!hahaha😂
OK, I am new and have been looking at lots of bass videos on UA-cam. Of course, everybody likes something different, I suppose. But these videos (Beginner 1 and 2) have been super helpful for me. I think it is always helpful to say why something is good so here you go. Instead of throwing a lot of notes at me or getting me to memorize the top of the fredboard in one chunk, the three notes at a time thing was great for me. I am amazed at how much it helped. Also, you mixed in the reminders about the fingering techniques for the right and left hand and that was really good too. So, in two short lessons, I feel like I learned a lot. Nice job. The Lord willing, I plan to go through all of these until I play like Jack Bruce. LOL! Just kidding. But hopeful!
Stay hopeful, and keep putting in the work, brother Raymond! Thank you so much for watching. Stay focused and you'll be playing those Cream tunes before you know it!
Excellent lesson.... Sometimes it's hard to keep up, let alone, remember. Rich Brown speaks clearly, and keep it basic and simple! The information is actually being processed... Neuroplasicity! 👊🏾
Rich I am following your program a step at a time. Its better than the teacher I am using. Hes just teaching songs. You're teaching me the correct way. And I appreciate it
Awesome! Like my comment in the previous video. Mr Brown knows how to teach. Without any hurry opposite from many other teachers. Thanks again Mr Brown.
Im so impressed with your teaching style. Im 64 and have been a drummer for 50 years. Just starting to learn bass now, and your patience is appreciated.
Rich, a friend of mine recommended I follow you for my new adventure of beginning to learn to play bass. You are a gifted teacher and thank you so much for your time that you put into making these lessons, and hope to join as a paying member soon!
You just gave me an insight nobody else has on YT. I was buzzing and it drove me mad. Reason? Plucking strings too hard. Solution? Turn the amp up and let that do the work. Marvellous and thank you.
Can’t say thank you enough for taking the time to teach us new bass players. I feel like I’m learning so much and I’m picking up on the lessons faster than expected. Still gonna take my time, but I’m very happy with the progress.
Hey, god has sent me to you. I had bass guitar lessons in 2012 and have not picked up a bass guitar since 2014. I want to continue learning bass. You are so much more patient. Thank you for presenting this pertinent video lesson. 😊
Thank you for going slow and steady. I am 69 and just learning bass. I have been a rhythm guitar player all my life but always wanted to learn bass so I am following your lessons. ❤
I have been playing bass for 17 years in my church’s worship band. I do ok, but I am self-taught and many of my fundamentals (like putting my thumb in the correct place on my fretting hand) are off. And it has limited my playing ability. So I need to learn everything from the ground up. I am amazed that you offer a complete series of lessons like this for free. God bless you, Rich!
I'm here to help. 🙂 I hope at least some of the information in this library of videos resonates with you. All the best to you on your ever-evolving bass journey!
I ENJOYED LESSON 1 LAST NIGHT!!!!!!! SIMPLE .... GREAT PACE.... NOT ALL THAT MUSIC JARGON.... MATTER OF FACT WILL PRACTICE AGAIN TODAY BEFORE I BEGIN LESSON 2..... Thank you Mr. Rich Brown!!! Page L . in JAX FL
Thank you so much Mr. Brown. I don’t know how to play any instrument in my life, I came across lesson for bass beginners and your teaching method made me want and love to learn bass. I’m over 50 and English is my second language also! ❤
What The Flock Of Seagulls - Back To Back Video - Well Done Brother Rich - Also, The Rest Stroke Was New To Me - I Am Familiar With Raking But Not Resting - Way Cool - And Yes, Saying The Notes Out Loud Is Very Beneficial For Sure - Light Touch , Alternating Plucks , And Breaking Up The Routine - Outstanding Go Team Human, Cheers
Unfortunately the back to back uploads was a failed experiment that ended up doing more harm to my analytics than good. I'll try it again with a different approach. I do enjoy adding more content at a faster rate. It's just a matter of figuring out the best way to help the channel's overall growth. Team Human on three... one two three TEAM HUMAN!!!!!📣
60 years old and finaly i bought a bass.I love music but the first i hear is the bass.I am from Holland.I thank you because UA-cam mister Brown geven me the groove to play!! I am still an beginner but thans a lote.greets Denny
I’m a long time guitar player trying to learn how to play bass properly. The note names are remedial for me, but your explanations of how these exercises will benefit down the road are excellent and have me wanting to do them from the mindset of being brand new to any stringed instrument. Thank you.
Today, I wiped my tears and decided to pick up the bass I brought nearly 4 months ago and teach myself never too much but it isn't as easy as I thought especially after 2 stokes this year that has changed my dexterity. I am so glad I found your videos under the Luther tutorial because after the first 6 notes I was lost. After your 1st lesson, I understand the hand positioning better and play those 6 notes so much better and was able to tune the bass too. Thank you ❤ your new student Suga raye 🎉
At 67 I've played a little guitar and just picked up the bass and i must say that you sir offer THE best instruction that I've seen on the internet. So easy to understand and learn proper technique. Thank you so much!!!
Wish I had this incredible resource when I started in 2015. What a master instructor! I will still follow along, I will always learn new things from you..l am a thumb floater though…so I will practice anchoring it
I start learning during Covid and I still a beginner. I’m taking the refresher classes with you. Just like everyone else said you are the best I’ve seen online.
Just picked up a Bass a a few days ago! I found your Intro videos helpful for someone who hadn’t picked up an instrument before. Thank you for your time.
What a patience! What kindness! What Huminity! Respect and thank for your teaching! I started playing piano at the age of 8 and studied for 12 years. I just played the guitar by myself. I always wanted to learn the bass guitar. Now i'm 47 and I bought an acoustic bass guitar 3 months ago, because I want to play blues, and Jazz. I started to learn. I have a bass guitar teacher and he teaches the same way, he calls it "sweep. it's perfect. Thank you
EFG ABC, you made it easy, I will practice this for a few day and then the skips, again you make it easy and I love you no that your taking to Beginners
Absolute beginner here, if you don’t even know the names of the strings yet (me) these are the videos to watch. The only tutorial that’s made me confident in my ability to learn the instrument
i know the notes but learning things like "touch the strings lightly" and other FUN-DA-MENTALS are helping me tremedously...and a brush up on the notes don't hurt ..helps me get a bit faster
On like week 3 now with this lesson. Anxious to move onto the next. Not sure if I’m ready yet though. In any case. Thank you for this. I’ve improved since watching your videos. I’ll be looking forward to sharing updates on my progress throughout the lessons.
Thank you for covering alternating right hand fingers. I was driving myself crazy trying to keep to 1212 plucking but it wasn't feeling natural in some instances, so doubling the middle finger as I change strings, knowing that's normal, makes me feel better. Spent a half hour working on alternating cross fingering, but that'll pay off in the future...
Finally, a bass player who teaches at a pace that a beginner can follow. I truly appreciate you man!
My kid just started lessons, these are so helpful on the side. ❤
Exactly. I try following that Bassbuzz page, and tho dude is super knowledgeable, it’s just a bit much basically most of the time 😅
I was going to comment the same thing!

Totally agree. His teaching is just perfect. 👌🏾
Hi Rich Brown, thanks for the way you are speaking. Slow speed speaking. Nice for us who are not americans. I'm from Cameroon.
Thank you Rich !
They have the slow and speed feature on UA-cam. I have to 1.5 rich to speed his slow ass up😂
Honestly, it’s nice for us Americans too 😂

Thank you so much! I found my instructor. I’ve had a bass since I was in my 20s. I’m in my 50s now and finally. May you be blessed!
I have been scouring youtube for an in depth bass instructor. You're doing God's work. Please keep this series going!!! I appreciate it, Unk!!!

Hey, Mr brown. Thank you for your content. No comedy filler, just teaching.
Surprisingly the last exercise appeared to be tricky one. That is why I like Rich’s lessons :)
These are awesome bass lessons. Love your style and want to thank you for all the new bass players out there!
You, sir, are a godsend to this 59 year old newbie bassist wannabe (and probably as well as everyone else who stops on your channel). Your lessons are awesome and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for them!

Great vid. Thank you, for posting. I definitely subscribed.

My problem is exactly what you mentioned in lessons 1 and 2. I'm playing with one finger. I think these excersizes should help.
It's been a decade since I played. Keep the "why" to practice something explanations coming. Great teacher, thanks.

Thanks for the lesson, Rich!
More great advice on the essential fundamentals: Light touch. That's where the tone lives.
