FYI, Brooks actually _could_ keep his attorneys in the last trial; it wasn't like Sarah Boone. He purposely _chose_ to represent himself, after his attorneys had done all the prep work for him... probably because it allowed him kind of a last hurrah. This was indeed a very surprising development. DB isn't allowed to have any contact with EP (that's one of the sentencing rules Judge Dorow gave), and in the last trial, he took great, visible joy in anticipating being able to confront EP. He's still laying on the charm with the judge in this hearing, so I don't think it's that he somehow changed his entire personality in the last year. There are two running theories that I've seen: Theory #1: He found out that if he took this to trial, the State was going to call his mother to the stand, and she'd get in trouble, and he's trying to avoid that (note: I don't have any actual knowledge of the State's planned witness list, one way or the other). Theory #2: The plea deal is related to the black eye he's sporting in this video (LYK cuts the video before the part where we get a good view of the shiner on his left eye). He did act very relieved when the judge said he'd be going back to the max-security prison he'd been in, instead of the county jail that he was in while awaiting the hearing (THAT, actually, is what he seems to have been laughing about... he seemed relieved he wouldn't be going back to that jail). Neither of those two theories seem quite right to me, just because... this was going to be his last opportunity to make EP's life a living hell, which is something he's shown himself to be very keen on doing in the past. I suppose of the two theories, #1 makes more sense (he may actually care about his mother). #2, at least by itself... it seems like being able to confront EP would be worth getting beaten up. Though maybe it's a bit more serious than that? There's also Theory #3: He purposely got himself beaten up in order to create apparent grounds for appeal. Is this a thing? Would that work?
@@windywednesday4166 Thanks. :) I'd briefly forgotten about that part, and I think in the back of my mind I was wondering if that still held true if he was pleading No Contest purely to get away from a jail where he was getting beaten up.
IMO the reason Darrell Brooks took a plea is cause he wants away from there. He got there Fruday, since friday he received a black eye! Its in the left
I think for the Waukesha parade case, he knew he was going down no matter what any attorney that represented him tried to do and he thought fuck it i am just going to fuck with others. He is a self centered person and believes in his own self importance.
I may be wrong, but it sounds more like Darrell is agreeing that he believes the state has enough evidence against him, to prove he comitted these offences, and, not that he's agreeing to being guilty of comitting the offenses? 🤔
Ummmm… in the Waukesha case I believe they had a solid clad case. Videos, witnesses, experts. So that makes no sense. It would make sense. If the parade trial didn’t exist. It’s crazy!
@@Inbetweenthelinesnow Every person has the right to a trial. Simple because the DA has all the evidence against you doesn’t mean you plead guilty! Appreciate the update on Brooks.
He’s been I. A wheelchair since his very first appearance in this courthouse. I heard his first appearance he would not come out and judge was pissed. His bad boy chair
Thank you, Peter! You are the best! 🥸
He’s not rehabilitated, and he’s not a narcissist, he’s a psychopath. It’s power, ego and self-preservation that matters to him, not attention. He’s already lost the game and he knows it. There’s no point in putting on a show like last time bc he’s already in prison for six lifetimes.
well technically he is way too emotional to be a psychopath. He is much closer to a sociopath. But definitely seems to have some kind of ASPD
I am shocked he is pleading no contest!! I thought sure he would want to see Erika Patterson again and put her through another trial.
It appears he was beat up in jail while awaiting this trial and decided to return to prison sooner than later after all.
He wasn’t going to be able to question her himself. I think that may of had a little to do with his decision. 🤔
Pleading guilty would say he was taking responsibility. So he really didn’t change one bit!😡
There are two running theories that I've seen:
Theory #1: He found out that if he took this to trial, the State was going to call his mother to the stand, and she'd get in trouble, and he's trying to avoid that (note: I don't have any actual knowledge of the State's planned witness list, one way or the other).
I think Theory #1 makes the most sense. She's probably the ONLY person he cares about.
#3 nope. Part of his plea deal is that he gives up the ability to appeal.
@@windywednesday4166That’s exactly what the Judge said. People it helps to listen.🤦♀️
@@windywednesday4166 Thanks. :) I'd briefly forgotten about that part, and I think in the back of my mind I was wondering if that still held true if he was pleading No Contest purely to get away from a jail where he was getting beaten up.
His attorney looks like let's just get this sh@$ show over with. I got real cases to handle 😮😅😅😅😊
His attention was obviously lacking. Can’t believe these courts allow attorneys on their phones. It’s not only rude? But disrespectful to the court!!!
Na! He's a public defender. He takes on all the $hit$hows....with no professionalism as you saw!
The Darrell Brooks Cinematic Universe is wild
I am so relieved.that Brooks stopped playing games.
About to finish my law degree here in Scotland . Love this insight and learning loads in term of strategy and Analysis . My guy ❤
Thanks for the update!
I have watched Darrell Brooks court case from Waukesha County two times I spent hundreds of hours. This man deserves no mercy.
IMO the reason Darrell Brooks took a plea is cause he wants away from there. He got there Fruday, since friday he received a black eye! Its in the left
Shave a great night, Peter and everyone
I think for the Waukesha parade case, he knew he was going down no matter what any attorney that represented him tried to do and he thought fuck it i am just going to fuck with others. He is a self centered person and believes in his own self importance.
Wow Peter you really sped it up a lot today! 😂
Oh boy! DB is back!
Glad you covered this. Thanks!
Peter you are the best ❤
Oh my, he's back.
I may be wrong, but it sounds more like Darrell is agreeing that he believes the state has enough evidence against him, to prove he comitted these offences, and, not that he's agreeing to being guilty of comitting the offenses? 🤔
That's basically it.
That’s exactly what. No contest. Means.
DB was offered a plea deal of 60 years in prison if he pled guilty he would not accept that. He knew he had no hope but being such a narcissist he could never accept that he was wrong.
Thank you LYK!
Thanks for following up on this 💙
Love seeing Peter's subscribers number increase!!
Sooo funny you mentioned him possibly being medicated when he was smiling/laughing because that was my thought right away!
The Prosecution was going to ammend charges after pretrial conference on the previous Friday and not having a plea from DB and add charges. He is in wheelchair restrained because it takes less deputies to deal with him. Erika does not have the means to sue or ask for restitution.
She don’t have the means to ask for restitution? What are you talking about. She knows how to set up a cash app and a GoFundMe BS. Whatever! It’s not like she’ll see a penny anyways. 😂😂😂😂
i quickly checked what the referenced location is, that he's housed in:
Wisconsin Secure Program Facility (WSPF) Boscobel
Wisconsin’s version of ADX Florence, CO.
Where's my popcorn 🍿 Im here for this debacle, too.
Fascinating. He’s an entirely different guy behaviorally. I wonder what Judge Dorow thinks of this?
IDK. It doesn't really change my opinion, sociopaths can be charming if it suits their purpose.
@@windywednesday4166Absolutely correct.
@@windywednesday4166 I see your point! I just wonder if he’s properly medicated now and can see his crimes for what they were. Or like you said, it just serves him now. Sometimes I fall asleep watching one thing on UA-cam and wake up to his trial playing again. I need to block it. He was maddening to watch. I know the Judge has been criticized for some things, but her patience was remarkable.
@@Pantoufle1010 IDK if meds would help. I know that was something his mother was on about. ...that 'none of this was his fault, he just needed medication, the system failed him'. But didn't he have an evaluation? I believe they determined he had a personality disorder and didn't need medication. One of the UA-cam lawyers criticized the judge and some people tried to jump on it and make it a thing... it was pretty stupid and the in the end it didn't fly. She was awesome. I think what bugged people is she didn't give even the tiniest clue what was going on in her mind until her closing statement. It was brutal. (I watched the trial with no commentary out of respect) Judge Dorow also presided over the eye- drop murder case. I didn't hear about it until it was over, I'm surprised nobody else picked up on it. It was wild.
@@Pantoufle1010If you listened. He’s not on any. He’s up to something. The 16th sentencing trial, will be interesting. 🤨🤨🤨🤨
Is it standard that a convicted person cannot make any money from the crime the prisoner was convicted of?
I think that depends on the sentencing judgment, and how much restitution is owed. It also probably varies between states and jurisdictions. Though I'm not certain. I'm trying to remember what the attorney in the parade trial said, because i remember her bringing this topic up specifically
Like the Son of Sam law?
I don’t think all states have the law written the same way and some may not have them in place yet, although you’d think they should.
It’s not a national law.
@@sallycinnamon5370 honestly, i think they should have the right to write about it or interview or whatever, but 97% of their profits should go to the victims or their families
I think it has to be specified.
Clearly this was an admiralty court, that is why he was so respectful. Lol
I don't think we'd be lucky enough to live that comedy act of him representing himself again.
I’m so glad he got a lawyer and he keeps his mouth shut. I got so pissed when he tried to be his own lawyer.
I was sure wondering how finding a jury was going to work.
Believe it or not, some ppl don’t pay attention to news or tv- in any fashion. They’re out there. And it’s ok if they have heard of him, it just can’t be enough to form an opinion
@@kateashby3066 I would agree. I meant more on his part because to him everyone knows. One of his main defenses was that the jury wasn’t fair or impartial. But doesn’t matter now! Thanks for the input!!
He is currently in the WI supermax facility for exceptional bad behavior.
I wonder if Judge Dorrow is furious about how well he is treating this judge.
I doubt she thinks of him other than "It was a difficult case."
It was his mom’s car. I was binging this because KR and Young Thung case was off 😢Thank you Peter for all you do. Between EDB and yourself, you have helped me explain all different things regarding the law. ❤
I never thought DB was a real Sov Cit but learned about it in jail and tried it out. It didn’t work out well and I think this attorney did a great job getting him in check and respectful. This charge is what seemed to upset DB the most so I’m glad he took responsibility. I would rather he plead guilty but it doesn’t matter. Maybe DB has settled into jail/prison life. I hope so.
LOL!! He didn’t admit to anything. Therefore, he didn’t accept responsibility. 🤦♀️
Amazing difference
He’s only laughing and trying to flirt with the judge just to see if she will acknowledge him in any way because he’s always trying to get attention from women. Now he can’t hurt any of try to manipulate any sort of here’s his only chance.
Can’t wait for this one!
Please don’t waste an additional minute being exposed to Mr. Brooks 😡😡😡
Thanks for your explanation.
I heard they transport inmates in wheelchairs in that courthouse.
Makes sense. Being strapped to 40 pounds of metal in a seated position makes it hard to bolt.
Hi Peter. More good work thank you. My only problem is the speed of a lot of the videos. I found this one really hard to keep up with. I understand its very time consuming for you too. Love the content & your insight to the non-legal watcher. Cheers. Riciard Kirby. Croydon, UK
He seems calm. And seems the street drugs probably wore off finally.
Yep two and a half years later. For sure.🙄
They will take his lifetime to wear off. I wouldn't trust the guy ever again.
He’s just glad to be out of his four walls.
I couldn’t watch because the court testimony was replayed at such a fast speed (2x ?) that I couldn’t comprehend much of it.
Please reconsider this 2x replay speed, Peter. A lot of us can’t listen at that pace. Thanks!
Click on the wheel that's next to the cc box. That will bring up the speed choices. I switched it to 75X.
@@psiloveyou1964beautiful. Thanks for that advice
Thanks so much, PS ! I will give that a try.
Thanks From Canada Tim,,
DB doesn’t want to be remanded in the Milwaukee prison because he fears for his safety. Hence the black eye. He knows that there is 3 verified murder threats been made against him he is safer in 23/7 lockdown in Boscobel supermax prison.
Oh, do tell. Just general death threats?...or has he done something special?
@@windywednesday4166 I read on another blog that said while he was in Dodge that prison officials were told by the guards that there were prisoners planning to kill him if and when he was put in general population. Dodge has said DB was the worse, of the worse, of the worse prisoners they have housed. There was many reason why he was moved to Boscobel, which is for disobedient & unruly prisoners.
@beverleyferguson8942 Oh my. Thank you for responding. The legal aspects are interesting, but it's interesting to know what else is going on, too.
Laughing and thanking her because she said he doesn’t have to stay at Milwaukee county jail.. he does not want to be down there
Im kinda jaded about this man... i think he has something up his sleeve - or thinks he does.
Wow! DB demeanor is wildly different!
IMO his mom shld be held accountable as well
Replay hear from rock springs WY.................... Wm
Just got thru all the Darrell Brooks cases...........
He is being housed with the worst of the worst here in Wisconsin. He is in Wisconsin Secure Program Facility
Prison in Boscobel. I’m guessing that is one reason he is appearing in a wheelchair with a black eye. I don’t know that for a fact, but it would make sense.
He appeared may 3 in Milwaukee demanded a trial and demanded to be present. The judge said Milwaukee jail could not protect him. This hearing May 6 he appears with half his hair with black eye swollen jaw and his Atty said wearing injury clothes ( compression garment)
Chair is used in Milwaukee for inmates who won't walk
He got his shiner and swollen cheek in Milwaukee!
@@robinminn271 That makes a lot of sense. I didn’t hear the judge say the jail in Milwaukee could not protect him, but it would make total sense that it is true. Thanks for pointing that out to me. ☺️
