While Timurid tribes were mostly Turkic, Babur himself was half-mongol as his mother was mongol. Yes in the Baburnama he clearly identified himself as Timurid Turk
Yes, you are right, I am from Andijan where Bobur was born in. Those people were mainly Turks, yes of course they have some mongol minority, but that mongol minority also got turkified already. Today we are colled Uzbeks, Kazaks, Turkmens,Karakalpaks and so on, But we are Turks in fact.
Yes, his mother was Mongol but the thing is in old times people didn't associate their leanage from their mothers and still don't. The culture and religion of the father and his tribe always determined the identity of the child.
@ wow, can’t believe you are from the same place as Babur. I am curious in what ways the Timurids were different from the Ozbeks that Babur mentioned in his Baburnama, who drove him out of Samarkand. Was it just a matter of different tribal allegiance or there were substantial cultural differences

Mughal did not rule till mid 18th century. In fact, their rule practically ended with the death of Aurangzeb in 1707 A.D. 1857 rebels declared Bahadur Shah Zafar as their sultan. Also that the main throne of India was in Delhi, agra. The place of Delhi in indian history is just like that of Constantinople in turkey. That's why the Temurids were last rulers of India.
@aub3365 For your information after the death of Aurangzeb, the Mughals were reduced only to Delhi and its surroundings areas and had become the puppet of the Marathas. And, during the free struggle of 1857 not all rebels declared Bhahadur Shah Zafar as their leader. Many rebels fought under Maratha Peshwa Nana Saheb, Rani of Jhansi, and Raja Kuwar Singh of Jagdishpur. In fact, Bahadur Shah Zafar was the one who betrayed the rebels of Delhi. He was playing on the both sides like a double agent just to be in the safe side.
@@soumyadas6958 It is only you who is saying that Bahadur Shah Zafer played on both sides. He only took pension from brits, which other royals also took. Brits exiled him, where he died in poor condition. Why? because he was the primary organizer of rebellion (rebellion failed because he wasn't experienced enough to lead guerilla wars). With regards to Marathas, they were experiences warriors, and they used mountainous areas to raid their enemies. Had they fought the brits, india would never have become a colony. They sided with Brits in 1799 against Tipu Sultan and most probably, they facilitated british invasion of india.
@aub3365 If your read history then you wouldn't have said that. Maratha fought 3 wars with the brits what is called anglo-maratha wars. And, Marathas were not only mountainous warriors, they also had the best cavalry of that time time that is why Maratha Empire was expanded from Attock (Pakistan) to Cuttack and Delhi to Tanjavur. Peshwa Bajirao I was regarded the best cavalry general of that time. Peshwa Balaji Bajirao, Raghunath Rao, Madhavrao I, Mahadji Scindia and other maratha generals has expanded the Maratha Empire. And, brits exiled Bahadur Shah Zafar because he was double crossing them and they lost trust on him. And, Tipu Sultan was not fighting for India's independence, he was just fighting for his own kingdom. That time Tipu was taking the support of the French and Ottoman Empire to fight against the brits. And, French also wanted to colonize India at that time. If Tipu was fighting for India's independence then he wouldn't took the support of other colonial powers of that time like the French and the Ottomans. Not only Marathas, the Nizam of Hyderabad had also supported the Brits against Tipu. And, for you kind information Tipu and his father Hyder Ali were never the legitimate ruler of Mysore. In fact, his father Hyder Ali deposed the then ruler of Mysore the Wadiyar king from the throne illegally and put him along with his family under house arrest which was continued by Tipu as well. The people of Mysore never expected Tipu and his father as their legitimate ruler. And, after the death of Tipu the Wadiyar dynasty was again restored to the throne by the Brits which was accepted by the Marathas and Nizam.
You have come with an interesting question that is frequently raised regarding Mughals. As a student of History, as far as I know, the Mughals were people of mixed Turko-Mongol origin who came from the Transoxiana region of Central Asia which was earlier ruled by the Chaghtai Khanate. When Central Asia was ruled by Genghiz Khan and later his sons, many Mongol tribes from Mongolia came and settled down in Transoxiana. Before Mongols, Turkic sultanates like the Seljuk and Ghaznavids had ruled over this region and their rule left behind a huge Turkic influence on the culture of this area. Over time, many of the Mongol tribes who settled in Transoxiana adopted Turkic culture and customs and even married with Turks. These also included the Barlas Tribe, from whom Timur is said to have descended. These tribes now started proudly calling themselves Turks and looked down on their Mongol origins ( even considering their Mongol bretheren as barbarians). That is why Timur also prefered to call himself a Turk. However, he idolized Genghiz Khan and followed his footsteps to unite Turks and Mongols of Central Asia to form a large empire like his idol. In order to acquire legitimacy, he married Saray Mulk Khanum, daughter of Qazan Khan, last Mongol ruler of Chaghtai Khan's lineage. From this marriage, he became the Guregen or Gurkan (son-in-law) of Chaghtai Khans and thus tried to trace linkage with Chaghtai and in turn Genghiz, father of Chaghtai. After Timur's death, his empire was divided among his sons and latter grandsons. However, like Timur, they called themselves Turks and disliked being Mongol. This notion was passed on to Babur through his father Umar Shaikh Mirza. Babur's own mother tongue was Chaghtai Turkic a Turko-Mongol language which developed under Chaghtai rule. Even though Babur's own mother was of Mongol origin, he prefered to call himself Timurid. Moreover, he was learned in Persian and thus highly influenced by Persian culture. At the end I would like to appreciate your work. This was an informative video. Keep going and make more of such videos. I would suggest Nanda empire, Kabul Shahi and Hindu Shahi dynasties as topics. Wish you a good day
Barlas tribe originally from Mongolia with lot of military experience and physical strength coupled with artillery gave them superior tactical and strategies against opponents.
Timur called himself Gurkani, meaning son-in-law, because his ancestors married into the line of descendants of Chinggiz Khan, and he wanted to present himself as the inheritor of Chinggiz's / Mongol power.

There is nothing called as Turko-Mongol btw my overwhelmingly confused bhai i have told you many times, The term "Turko-Mongol" was not used contemporaneously by the people in question. It is a modern historiographical construct developed by scholars to describe the political, military, and cultural amalgamation between Turkic and Mongol societies during the medieval period. The Mongols, under Genghis Khan and his successors, brought together various nomadic groups, including Turkic tribes, and their conquests spread across lands traditionally inhabited by Turkic peoples, This term was introduced by morden historians and scholars, According to them Turko-Mongol refers to the cultural, linguistic, and military fusion that resulted from the interaction of Turkic and Mongol peoples, especially after the rise of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. But it was not a term used during the medieval period, The peoples of the Mongol Empire or their Turkic counterparts did not identify themselves under a collective “Turko-Mongol” identity. Rather, they saw themselves as Mongols, Turks, or by specific tribal affiliations like Kipchak oghuz karluk etc. Timurids were totally different from the borderly Mongols of Chagatai Khanate, Cuz the Turkic population within the Khanate was generally referred as Chagatai Turks cuz of their ethno linguistics factor, While the Mongols within the Khanate and from borders retain there identity as Moughal, At the time of Timur the Barlas tribe which is enlisted in the initial mongol conquests, Was totally Turkic in nature culture language traditions music art dance festival cuisine custom, So they weren't looking themselves as Mongols but the Turks, But at the time of Timur and other Timurids, Timurid/Chagatai Turk Tribes were one of the largest Turkic tribes in the region, And every Timurid ruler used to have some serious hatred towards Mughals or Mongols as they mentioned them as robbers thief and uncivilized people in central Asian in their own writings, So the Timurids were paternaly Turks had nothing to do with Mughals or Mongols, So, these groups did not consider themselves to be a fusion in the way modern historians use the term Turko-Mongol. They saw themselves as either Mongols or Turks, depending on their ruling class, language, and cultural practices, So the best way to identify them according to their own perspective will be just Turks and not Turko-Mongols, You pakzis are totally absurd, with your identity, That's make my day special pakzi 😂🤭😁✌️.

So, what I want to say is that every empire, whether Maurya, gupta, Delhi sultanate or mughals or Marathas has commited atrocities and wars. there literally no freedom, equality, democracy or any modern values which makes us humans back then. Stop glorying old empires and be happy of the modern constitutional Democratic republic which guarantees(At least they guarantees!) us human Rights, freedom, equality and justice. If the current government has faults, it's our duty to correct them as citizens. Be modern. Embrace modern values. Stop living in 'good old days' daydream.
You are right. Babur and his descendants before him were Turks and disassociated themselves from Mongols. People in India didn't differentiate much between Mongols and Turks from that region maybe because Taimoor was also a descendent of Chughtai khan from his meternal side. So yes they were Turks and had mongol wives time to time because Babar inherited an empire from Taimoor and Taimoor's grand father married grand daughter of Ghengis Khan and had an alliance with one of the Mongol forces. It's natural that their cultures would have been mixed also by living together especially as an empire but they were not Mongols so it's obvious they would have never called themselves "Mughals".
Whether it is north indian, bangladeshi or pakistani they are indo aryans and should have formed a hindustani country. It’s funny when they display Mughals like Babar, Akbar as Indo aryans like Heithik Roshan or Prithvi Raj Kapoor etc in Bollywood movies. the fact is, these Iriginal Mughals looked Asian. AKA Chinese. Mughals were ashamed of their own lineage. They kept marrying either Persian or Rajput women and finally by the time Aurangzeb came, they looked Indo Aryan too. Mughals adopted Persian culture and gave away their Turk culture. The original Turks were Shamans. They worshipped nature. So they hated their own heritage.
While Timurid tribes were mostly Turkic, Babur himself was half-mongol as his mother was mongol. Yes in the Baburnama he clearly identified himself as Timurid Turk

After his death the Marathas ruled India. 18th century India belongs to the Maratha history. And they rule India till the third anglo-maratha war when they got defeated to British in 1818 A.D. 🙏🙏🙏
100% right. British took India from Maratha not from Mughals. It is unfortunate we Indians do not know the History.

@Jikkumaster china was, china is and china will always be a copy cat country. China used to copy India and now copying Amerika. We India always focus on amendments, correction. Whenever a terrible battle happen,,, dangerous weapons are left or destroyed. We Indians Hindu kings fought with rules. Death is acceptable rather than breaking rules of war. What ever novels, scriptures, are available now. Only less than 1 % of total are available. More than 99% Hindu scriptures are destroyed by Anti Hindu rulers like musalman rulers buring Nalanda University and Christian rulers like Portuguese, Dutch. Some Christians like German, French utilised our Hindu scriptures. But Britishers disconnected the connection between Hindu and Hindu scriptures. By fake, false propaganda.by imposing English education,by destroying Gurukul system.

Hello! from India (south india) Nice short video explaining origins of mughals. I had literally so much confusion regarding babars lineage. In south india, we had great native kingdom states seperate from those of north indian sultanates, south indian kingdoms were strong and successful in fending off invasion unlike conqured north rajput kindgoms. One intresting ancedote i want to mention is in 'Baburnama' babur himself mentioned answer to the question pondering that who was the most powerful king in india in his era? He answered it was a south indian emperor 'Shri Krishna devaraya' Emperor of Vijayanagara Empire ( lord ruling all of south india) with 1 million strong Imperial army in whole of sub continent and babur admited outrightly in his autobiography in an event, if at all he were to wage a war against hime he would be toast!!
NICE ONE:
Pakistanis till 1960s - considered Mughals as their ancestors
Pakistanis till 2000s - considered Persians as their ancestors
Pakistanis till 2020s - considered Arabs as their ancestors
Pakistanis in 2050 - will consider Chinese as their ancestors
dosent matter they are still indo aryans similiar to india and bangladesh
Bhai here is one channel that celebrates their Panjabi identity and regional identity phir bhi yeh joke.
Yeah the average Pakistani is Jewish in religion, lives in stolen land and appropriates our culture. But that doesn't mean they consider them their father.
Make better more nuanced jokes instead of copy/paste jokes.
Why do all BJP supporters love Pakistan
@sktarequehussain8620 why do you follow a Jewish religion and live on stolen land? The same reason bruh.

Mughals were efficient rulers. Those days conquest was considered honorable and thing that warriors did for their people. Comparing people of those days with today's standards is nonsensical. Now we rin democracy. Those days it was putting ur life on line and winning land

Maybe I missed it but then how did the name Mughals got stuck? Even in non-Indian history books, they call it the Mughal Empire.
Great work Misha. Thank you for informative videos
The glorification of "conquerors!" in this video is so sad! These invaders came in and caused utter mayhem, yes they became the victors and therefore wrote the history. One should reflect upon the notion of being the victor and what utter chaos is left in the path to conquering, it seems that this is all mixed in with ideological supremacy and none if it is questioned in certain sections of society, perhaps because the self reflection will reveal the lies and echo chambers that certain people live in.

wow..finally ...an interesting channel.
Trust me Babur would not be shocked or anything if he saw it today and after learning about his past and Timur’s past also Genghis Khans past. Once he learns about those of his past he will be even more proud because what the Turks and Mongols/mughals accomplished in total would shock him.
Most kingdoms plundered nations and oppressed people. Within each kingdom, there were a few just rules. So, we Indians must stop associating the barbaric acts of just handpicked regimes and conflating it with muslims altogether. The truth is any ruler who is not just only serves his self interests and not God.
Hi Mesha. You have explained it beautifully.
Make video on safavids❤
Wow great point! Well explained! It is a partly a misnomer based on what outsiders called the empire.

Wow hyper nationalist hindus seething in the comments over an empure that doesnt even exist anymore lol
I'm pretty amazed at barbarians being glorified as civilized people myself. It's crazy how people evolve to almost have this strange Stockholm Syndrome.
It's not hyper nationalist but rather radical in Pakistan use reclaiming Mughal empire in their Gazwa doesn't know that Mughals were never Pakistani in the first place. We have to tell them to stop this gzwa dream and live peacefully in India instead of trying to reinvade us to form moghuls
Good video! Presenter is beautiful and charming. Well scripted, subscribed.
just a little mistake - they are not 'TURKISH" they are 'TURKIC'
My guess: They hated it because they were not Mongols
Babur cannot be considered a jenghis descendant because he is from the female line..
Whether you call them Timurids or Mughals, fact is they were great rulers and accepted India as their home and enhanced the culture of this country…
I wouldn't say "great" rulers. Yes by power, they had power but cruel... Babur like Aurangzeb, his father, etc... destroyed many temples and infact he even wrote that in his journal.. I would say he distorted the culture of this country rather than enhancing it
Only for muslims...hindus don't consider them them kings..they were invaders.....
no, they persianised india
😂😂😂
Never seen a tapeworm ever debate leaving a hosts intestine alone...
So is the Mughal and the Islamist...😂😂😂
They were foreign invaders who occupied India amd enforced their culture and language on native Indians.
Only the converted people of subcontinent who were forced to accept their culture sees them as Indians.
Babur was related to Emir Temur from his father's side and to Genghis Khan from his mother's side
У узбеков национальности считается по линиям отца не так как к евреев по линии мама.
Baburnama talks in detail about Babur's exploration of his sexuality and his love for one of his foot soldier!! This is a fascinating thing- to know that Mughals did not see homosexuality as taboo and eunuchs held various ministers in the Mughal court- atleast until Aurangzeb.
its a taboo in islam?
Это то время противоречит закону Ясак военной трибунал.
@@Dheeraj-y4f actually those eunuchs were kids or young boys villagers and farmers who gets captured during battles and raids 😢😢😢
thats complete bullshit being homosexual literally had death penalties...
Because of their nomadic central asian culture
They were muslim but their root culture was central asian barbarians ( muslim barbarianism with ultra pro central asia barbarism )
Central asian culture has common homosexuality even forced homosexuality
Like among pastun bachabazi is common ( male teenagers abused of forced homosexuality)
Doesn't matter by what name they're being called, this empire gave birth to one the most based sultan of the subcontinent, Muhi al-Din Muhammad.

Later they adopted Turkic Persian Culture

You have a wonderful voice for this line of work. I have a suggestion for content - tell people about Babarnama. I don’t mean read it to them, but you can tell what he writes in your words adding any related context and history from that time. I have read babanama myself and found it riveting.
Good luck to your channel!
Thank you, and yes I do plan on making more videos about that
My question to the video maker silly girl is, “Prove that Indians would have tourists without the creatures of the Mughals and other Muslim”.
Have a little bit shame at least although, I don’t expect that.
Dying of shock is a horrible thing to do and what Islam advocates is humane. I know people will start lying in response but suck it up.
There is a specific paragraph mentioned about this that i read in NCERT class 7 history textbook, detailing how the "mughals" who claimed to be decendants of chinggis xhaan (genghis khan) hated being called "mughal", i think it is still probably there but after NEP maybe removed? anyways it was something interesting to delve into.
So, the correct pronunciation is Babr, not Babar. It's the same as Babr Shir which many in South Asia mispronounce as Babar Sher. Too many things and names are pronounced very wrongly in South Asia.
Thanks for explaining this clearly, Tareekhi Tales
Hi Misha, well researched and well presented. Nice to find a history buff😊 You are the first young person who has impressed me in this subject. Well-done 🎉
The only reason why lots of people hating mughals nowadays is because their religion. Now, somebody will come against this saying that the British were Christian, but they are hated. But, apart from other dynasties which settled here British empire was obviously a foreign nation coming from far away by sea and conquered the land.
Imagine this Babur guy converted to Hinduism and made this empire. You will see 90% of hindutva channels supporting that hindu mughal empire. There is an opposite side for this. The hindu Maratha empire is often glorified, even though they've committed atrocities and done brutal conquests in indian subcontinent. Only because they are hindu.
Please don't bark anything here.
We south indians are diffrent having diffrent culture, language, appearance, ethinicity 'Dravida nadu' should be formed. We are dravidians.
Dravida nadu and hindustani is rightful partition of india not pakistan.
India was a large area referred as Al Hind in ancient times .
World scenario during the Babar era was different than today , so I wouldn't bother now , today the whole country is the hands of politicians, that is the sad reality
'hind' is litrelly arabic term , 'bharatvarsha' is native term

Indians haven’t really learnt their lessons. Another future empire could still conquer India.
Mughals ruled almost south Asia India till Kanyakumari Tamil Nadu under Hazrat Aurangzeb in 1694 madurai Nayak dynasty queen Rani mangammal accepted Mughal suzerainty under Hazrat Aurangzeb that time Aurangzeb's Empire expanded up to Kanyakumari in 4 million KM
This was super interesting. So where did the name mogol came from?
