I owned a very similar car. Every time the garage fixed a leak another one appeared. Only had 40k . Was absolutely mint condition. Fed up with it in the end. Loved your channel. Keep up the good work 👍
Nice vid, I have all the leak spots to do on my r53 and the chain, charger service, plus all the running gear, subframes pipes etc. ... yours looks pretty decent underneath 👍
@RRRCUK I bought mine as a stop gap while I worked on the golf gti my wife uses for work... wish I hadn't bought it now but she really likes it and when she said keep it for her I committed with nearly a grand on parts waiting to get fitted 🤦♂️😂
I would love to find the person going round tightening up these oil filter housings! Mine was stupid tight when I did my R53. I was fortunate that the engine was out (doing all the leaks) when I did mine so I had room for leverage.
Ooh, a Mini! (I did a lot of repair work on the original A-series Mini. You needed really thin wrists to undo the speedo cable at the back of the engine.)
Fantastic news. Very rewarding job. Question. Is it worth doing a sump gasket too? My big rebuild I did this. But the engine was hydro locked prior. So I had stripped it down big time anyway!
Great vlog very interesting and you were quick sorting that knocking noise.... But for me can't stand them hate the shape of them just never liked them and never will.... But that's just my opinion before the snowflakes start 😂
I am a classic mini type of guy. The BMW introduced the new mini and it was pretty insulting. It did however take to my surprise. New they are so old they are pretty much a classic car.

Good work! Thank you for engine flush idea - completely forgot about it.
That stuff I used really did the trick. The oil was nicely thinned. The new oil looks golden after a few days use. Very uncommon.

I would love one to do an in depth refresh on. Brakes, backing plates subframe, drop links etc
I find it very rewarding
Thank you!!

This seems similar to a lot of stories I hear. Love to hate these Minis. But just can't somehow!
Question is, should I buy another? Bigger build?
@@RRRCUK why not 😁
Why not hate? Or buy another? I could easily do the wrong thing here.
Nice job and now it has failed we have the pleasure of some more decent videos. Good luck with it and loving the content and approach 👍🏼
Thank you. If you enjoy it I will keep trying to please!
Those all weather floor mats are worth decent money. They're the early type with no carpeted heel pad 👍
I have seen them at about £70 alone. Crazy money

Some people have talent. It just isn't a talent on cars!!
Ha ha
Thank you

I remember. One of your most recent adventures with the A series was possibly my 1975 mini 850. This BMW is much better to work on.
Great car mate
New video out on Saturday
That massacre of linkin park will haunt me for weeks
So sorry. I use it to brighten the time lapse. It made an impression....
Mini car, massive money pit.
Endless fun...... Deep pockets.
Yep , my starter motor decided to obliterate itself. It also damaged the fly wheel, so my mini is pushed to start until I get new fly wheel.
Get in there and refresh the crank seal too whilst the clutch is out. Common weak spot for oil seepage. These cars do like to keep us busy.
@RRRCUK yh, of course it getting major work done while the gear box is out to save money on labour

Maybe thought it was leaking from there and kept tightening it
Ha ha. Love this.
Simple fix for that noise! I’m guessing the previous owner thought the engine was kaput. MOT failures don’t sound too bad a repair either 🙂
The failures are fine. Nothing structural. Just standard age related repairs. I am looking forward to working on this little gem again.
Ridiculously tight oil filter
Incredibly!! Loctite for sure. I had to use a breaker bar to remove the sump plug too. I can not wait to get the ball joints off in the next episode!!
