I own this bike (2007 BMW K1200LT, Ballistic Blue). I bought it as a new 2007 BMW K1200LT. After a couple years I became disabled and lost my core strength, so I could no longer handle the heavyweight of the bike. I gave my bike to a friend with the agreement if he was not riding it and wanted to get ride of it I get first right to get it back. So he has little kids (mine are grown) and I got the bike back as a two wheel. I knew I would need to convert to a trike if I wanted to be able to ride it for any length of time. After some lengthy research I decided on the Hannigan Motorsports conversion kit. I love the steadiness and comfortable ride. The K1200 LT is loaded, it is BMW’s response to Honda’s Gold-wing. With Cruise control, Heated Seats, adjustable windshield, CD player, Auxiliary. When I converted it to a Trike, I added a second gas tank, and front swing-arm, and tow hitch. I am not a die hard ride or die motorcyclist, but I do like to ride. This conversion gave me the best of both worlds. With all of the extras that are standard for the LT I can’t recommend it highly enough. The biggest obstacle (pun intended) was getting use to the width going from a 2 wheel to 3 wheel I have scratched the fender a time or two. You might say why go through the hassle of converting from 2 wheel to trike? I already owned my motorcycle out right so it made more sense to convert my bike rather than going out and purchasing a bike that is already converted. My biggest complaint is the delay the motorcycle shop that did the conversion caused. They tied my motorcycle up for just short of a year; and I had to ship it back to Hannigan’s to have them fix the issues he caused doing the conversion. If you are going to do a Trike conversion make sure you research the shop that is going to do the conversion. I wound up using the shop I did based on Hannigan’s recommendation. Hopefully after my hiccup Hannigan has examined their certification process for companies they recommend to do the conversion. Great Bike I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND it without reservation. Enjoy your rides and keep your wheels on the pavement.
As an owner and older rider of a 2006 BMW K12000LT/2012 Hannigan trike, I can confirm how beautifully this machine runs and handles. Due to the weight of a 2 wheel KLT, especially fully loaded, a trike became the viable option to giving up tour riding altogether. Converting it over to 3 wheels has been a godsend for us. My wife and I have been to numerous states and put thousands upon thousands of miles on it without any problems. We also occasionally pull a small pop-up camper with it. It will make someone happy to be able to continue riding due to age or physical limitations.
Our Goldwing Trike 1800 cc with the Roadsmith trike is absolutley the best Trike kit with the smoothest ride.
I totally agree with thiis video I bought a Hannigan trike in June of 2022 from thier turn key inventory. They built it as a demo trike for rallies. I would not hesitate to do something like that again.. your comment about riding two wheels. Also rings true, after47 years it was not safe for me to ride a motorcycle anymore. I hope you can stay on two wheels for as long as possible. But if you have to go to three wheels and don’t look back
As an employee of Hannigan Motorsports I am glad to see the content, we do have numerous models. My favorite is the Indian trike kit, and the current R&D trike we are developing currently.
I met a guy while taking my motorcycle test that was missing a leg and rode a trike. Awesome to see him still riding despite it.
I worked at a motorcycle salvage and they also did motorcycle service. The mechanic that worked there was missing his leg below the knee. He lost his leg working at a Honda dealership. The were getting ready to unload a shipment of new bikes and when the truck driver released the straps one of the crated 750 Hondas fell on him and crushed his leg. He rode a trike that he hand built using an Opel Cadette frame and drivetrain. The body he made for it looked like an old coach from the horse and buggy days. The front end that he welded onto the Opal's frame was from the front half of a Kawasaki KZ 1000 frame. He would park it in front of the shop and people would come in just to ask if it was for sale.
danny harbour That’s awesome, and crazy at the same time! Glad he could still ride!
I saw a video about a guy without legs going onto a boss boss trike and it had wheelchair storage as he was riding it around lol.
My grandpa actually had that Goldwing Trike Conversion done on his bike before he passed away.. it was very cool, and so smooth!
REALLY LIKE THE WIDTH AND COLOR.
I'd be interested in how you think these compare with the Can Am Spyder. Two wheels on the back or two wheels on the front with all the electronic safety features fitted to the Spyder.
Seeing one of these get up on two wheels would be impressive.
@vic vapor Either two, but would prob need a prepped surface for the rear two.
I wanna see one doing a stoppie !!
They'll do it easy to!
I think you need to update your rider scale screen. Wrong bike listed.
That's what I was wondering a trike for moderate to advanced I knew I missed something
"Who was treating me for schizophrenia...." 😂😂😂
Thanks for this review on the bike it’s what I was looking into buying since I have back problems :)
I have had 4 trikes in my riding career and love them! They make absolutely no sense, in that you have all the disadvantages of being in a car i.e. you get stuck in traffic, not always easy to find parking and the disadvantages of a bike i,e, you get cold and wet when the weather is bad. However, they are great fun and you don't have to wear full protective clothing, not even a helmet in the UK (although I would choose to most of the time). This one is way higher in spec than any I have ridden but if I ever win the lottery, I would be tempted! I have found that riders either love trikes or hate them, with no middle ground. My first one had an 1100cc car engine and we had it made so that we could go to bike rallies as a family. I also used it for commuting 70 miles per day and we went shopping on it. Thanks to a main tank under the seat and a reserve, normal bike tank it had a range of about 300 miles. It was ugly and slow but it got the three us riding together (my daughter was 5 when she first went on) and we had great fun with it. When I had no use for it and went back to 2 wheels, I gave it to the National Association for Bikers with a Disability (NABD) so someone else could benefit. I never did hear what happened to it.
An old man from my town has one of these and he has a vinyl canopy that completely encloses the bike and passenger. The bike is a Black Cherry Red with the black canopy and it looks sweet, i have seen him riding in the pouring down rain and he says he doesn't get wet at all.
The rider POV makes that thing look HUGE. Nice looking bike. It is alot for 1200CC. Bet that kit on the new Goldwing would be a dragster.
4:25 That's one weird kawasaki versys 1000 ;)
Same thought here lol
4:24 damn I never knew this was actually a versys underneath
In this video you talk about bad trike kits. Could you do a video on what conversion are the better ones to look at, or eat to look for when considering buying a trike.
Hi Sean. Actually this is what I should be Riding, but I like 2 Wheels. I have 4 Fusions in my Neck and 2 in my Lower Back. I was told after my latest MRI I need 3 more Fusions in my lower Back. Plus a old Gunshot Wound that really messed up my insides. My biggest problem is I’ll never be able to afford something like this. It Sucks being a Disabled Veteran! Anyway, I’ll keep riding my 2006 R1200GS. It makes me happy and I know how to work on it. It will be my last Bike probably for as long as it last, I can’t afford to get anything else. Actually I feel lucky I have the GS. It is a great Bike. Thanks for the Laughs and the Words of Wisdom.👍👍
I’ve had two Hannigan conversions, very high quality. The Ford rear end is an excellent platform and on my Goldwing there was room for a sidecar on top of being a trike (a tri-car) and it’s coming up on 200,000 miles, my other is a new Indian Roadmaster with a classic Sidecar
I saw a trike the other day where the whole rear end opened up like a clamshell trunk. It was amazing
That is a very nice trike!
Does stearing a trike feel similar to stearing a bike with a sidecar ? What i mean is there significantly less leaning involved in turning and more just turning the handlebars at a slower speeds like your hugging a barrel ?
When riding solo I have no need for three wheels but it would come in very handy when riding with a passenger. Not having to balance the bike at a stop with the weight of a passenger on the back would be nice.
That's where I could see it. Way less whining from the wife.
What's a cd Changer ?
“ I want to ride my tricycle, I want to ride my trike, i want to ride my tricycle, I want to ride it where I like”
A tricycle, with a single wheel in front and two at the back is an inherently unstable platform. That one doesn't look too bad; but you still cannot escape physics
You must be a spider rider lol
Agreed Kevin. I haven't seen a motor trike in person, but from the videos viewed online, tilting motor works trike seems best.
Sorry, NOT. I've ridden one of these, and have put 25K miles on our '14 Tri Glide including some 4K mile trips. NO instability. That's a hold-over from back in the Honda ATC days which were horrible and dangerous because of the balloon tires and one-piece rear axle. I can easily keep up with any other large touring machine on any road.
Do not see that in my 2016 champion trike. You must be a Harley rider
Good luck with the channel bro
Does it have cruise control?❤
Wait, where is Rokform? 🤔
Make a video on the 04 cvo street glide please
Did you mention the phone holder ?
What's the typical range of one of these with the additional tank? That's a neat tank, and the better question is, can you ride long enough to not get off to bother with a fill up? I can see it being a benefit out west were stations are more scarce, but how long can you stay on before needing a break or is the tank just for when stations are hard to find?
I had a buddy who broke his leg and instead of loosing a whole riding season he got the training wheels and put his Heritage on it. At least he got his broken legs / knees in the breeze....Then he sold the kit after he healed up..
Would like to have known the specs such as wheel trave,l weight and turning radius.
Hey srKcycles! I got my first motorcycle last year on my 19th birthday it's a Yamaha v star classic 650cc, how many miles can a v star 650cc last? Or what miles is considered high miles for it? I just passed 10,000 miles
ask google bro
IMO 10k is pretty low, just keep the regular oil changes up and it'll last for years, but you'll sell it and probably get something bigger in a few years hey lol
It’s just getting broken in at 10K Miles. Just keep up the Maintenance and don’t Race it everywhere, and it will last a Long Time. It’s not about Speed, it’s enjoying the Ride.
Is that front fork bowed out? Look around 3:35 - 3:40
Love your videos man! Thank you for sharing your faith! God has blessed you with a awesome job riding all those Rad Rides dude so cool!!
Wow, quite the ride, nice when it all looks factory! God bless and stay safe.
I would never buy one of these, but I love the channel so much I watched the whole video.
Well yah its ugly as hell and I wouldn't get one but I wanna see how it rides and stuff. I would give it a test ride though.
The BMW trike seems interesting, mostly because it's a BMW with a very goo, I thnk, trike conversion kit. I hae a 2016 cam Am Spyder RT-S. I bought it new. Looks like imine has all the same features as the BMW. I think the reverse is better on mine. Mine has a windshield that goes up and down. I like the idea of 2 wheels up front though. It's my belief it is more stable in an emergency maneuver. In addition the can Am has one pedal (right foot) that handles all three wheels, Mine is semi automatic which means no clutch. You have to manually upshift with a paddle shifter. It will automatically downshift or you can do it manually. The Can Am has traction control, stability control adn anti lock brakes. The last thing about the Can Am that sets it apart, at least in my eyes, it was designed to be a 3 wheel vehicle from the frame on up. Teh biggest difference is how to steer it. It does take a while. Steering is more like a snowmobile or jet ski.
You should hang onto this one. Would be a safe way to take ur little ones on a ride etc.
at 4:26, your rate the "2015 Kawasaki Versys 1000" as intermediate to advance riding.........Kawasaki?
Beautiful trike. Wish I had the ability to find one.
Big ass bike
Bet it would be nice on long long rides
Ok, but that Indian FTR 1200 S is amazing!
Take a Honda dct...any day....can’t ride due to no right limb...no one could get controls for me...can’t wait to get a Honda...this bike looks cool...gold wings seem like a gift from god....gets my heart going to see these rides....and goosebumps....heeee
Looks about as good as it gets for a wrong way round trike. For stability, I prefer two steering wheels at the front and one driven at the rear, like my S&S engined Morgan M3W.
No argument from me!
But they look so weird. And the single front is more stable than many people say it is. A holdover from the old Honda ATC days, those things were just horrible.
@@nathanwahl9224 You have obviously never driven a Reliant Robin. They will tip over at the first sign of a side load. My Three Wheeler Morgan can do a three wheel drift and never feels remotely like tipping over.
I would like to see a Honda Rune trike
Picture a Honda Rune with one of those "training wheel" trike kits! Now I'd luv to see Sean demo one of those bad boys!
We're dying of smoke in Colorado. Wish we had fresh air to be in our faces.
Hi
I m Mr bhili in cape I got k12000LT bike and I need to make nice convert can you please send me more information
4:07 amen 😁🙏
Is not dangerous steering this trike at high speed?
No. Very stable.
Nice, but what do you do when you see road kill!!! Lol. You can’t straddle it... you usually can’t swerve around it either...
I have a Can Am Spyder. You are right about that. No avoiding most road debris or potholes.
Stop and save it.
Good to know that you rate the Versys 1000 a intermediate level bike.
bmw touring bikes are awesome. nice trike.
That trike can't compete with the can am ryker, I've put down a Harley trike goldwing trike, they can't handle curves like the Ryker raced up sandia mountain in NM .beat them both by 45 to 50 sec.not straight line but but very curvy mtn rd up to 10300ft.i only have 600 ace.only $8500 not over 20 grand like the others, they both have since bought one.best design and alot more safer and fun to ride.i am disabled vet and 2 wheels are out of the question for me now.
The flagship BMW is the K1600. In-line six cylinder engine; 160 hp. Rather nice
As someone who rides one. I concur
How much is this trike?
Always wanted a Trike.
how much indian price
My grandfather bought a '71 springer from new he cant ride it anymore as he's not very steady on his feet, I'm currently converting it into a trike for his 72nd birthday as a suprise
I have ridden a 45ci Flathead Harley Servicar it is a strange ride. I never rode one of the new trikes so not sure about it's ride.
Beautiful
I ride a BMW S1000R what u think about this bike?
God created you to make the best dam u tube Chanel around look foreword to seeing the vids Good stuff always
How come every bike you show it’s the best bike?
Ahem, may I present to you, Harley Davidson Street Glide with a Hannigan trike kit.
Ive seen it before on the freeway same thing
Hey, can the handicapped have tied it up?
ahh the BMW 1600 now that would
4000+ rpm at 60mph?
you took all the time to show how beautiful this bike is and yes it is beautiful but you never comment or went into any security test you never tested the emmergency brake with the rear of front or any other specs for the bike itself.....
How can I work for you? I’m 22 very outgoing God lovin! I’m rebuilding my KDX 2 stroke rn but I’m licensed and insured and extremely good driver?🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️🙏🏽✅
Kawasaki Versys 1000???
Increase rake? Add damper? On my sidecar outfits I reduced rake. Otherwise you physically have to lift the weight of the bike as you turn from full lock to straight ahead. The BMW mule is very nice, sophisticated, smooth, powerful. Nicer tha a CanAm. But the CanAm is cheaper and better dynamically.
Who’s scenery is better ? Millyards or the bearded one.
THRKTHYCLETH at it again
Really like the reading of the Word! Also I agree it is an awesome bike... I have one (on two) and really enjoy it.
I’m waiting for the m series trike
why does the pov look like a wave runner
No lane splitting with that.
I can't ride 2 wheels after a few back surgeries.
my friend wife have this red colour strike. but best all world bike honda goldwing trike.
What does Sean look like without a beard?
My brother is looking for a trike toy interested in a trade for older nice car(s).
Why Would anyone pay. $17,900 for a 13-year-old motorcycle
Scott Bordelon I’m with you man. The process to change out the rear main seal on a stock LT takes 8-10 hours. To change it out you have to completely remove the rear end and transmission! At that point you are several thousand dollars in. Just for that one seal.
i often want to buy the bike you are talking about, this is neat but i am not a buyer!
you put kawasaki verasys down for being an intermediate to advanced bike
My biggest issue with trikes has always been.. at that point are you better off in a little convertible? Miata etc. No helmet, more storage, probably not much more weight.
Sure, but Miata's can't run with bikes and clubs.
Yeah but you'd be in a Miata.
I'd love a pair of M1 Moto gloves, but they don't make them in small. =/
Look like a large handy cap scooter
Ya know, I have the motorcycles and I have a Spitfire and an old Miata. "Wind in my face" with all of them. Seems like in between with 3 wheels is the worst of both worlds.
So you haven't put a lot of miles on one. Too bad, we love our '14 Tri Glide, and have ridden it to all four coasts since we got it.
I would never get one of those
If I had money, I would love to buy the little red convertible car you have sitting in your parking lot .
I want to send my bike to you
2015 Kawasaki? haha
I was hoping someone else noticed lol
@@markvanhoy7509 8
Am I detecting a lack of awesome in this video?
rather have a can am spyder more stable
