I treat children. Their parents have no self-regulation skills that don't include working out, drinking, starving, and over-working. I teach them Dr. Harvey Karp's techniques, and they learn how young brains can grow. But they really have a hard time changing their own strategies. Some of them even envy their child's new skills and confidence. It is a classic narcissist response.
Too many people are false diagnosing anxiety depression and ADD. Kids and teens and young adults are just saying they have this and that without a professional diagnosis and its a problem. Please just go see a professional ya'll
Because the rates of self harm and suicide is *significantly* higher in young girls. There's many reasons for that which stem from the differences between girls and boys (girls are genetically typically more social, and thus compare themselves way more on "social" media). When it comes to boys, their suicide rates don't become much higher until adulthood. Adult males commit suicide at much more significant rates than adult women. But this video is specifically focused on children age group, so that's why.
There isn't. There are great books on helping boys and young men grow up solid. But this woman is shilling a book, so you really cannot expect her to sell someone else's book, can you?
Valid point. It’s maddening! Over a lifetime, males have a MUCH higher suicide rate than females. I see “girl power” stuff all the time in stores and entertainment and schools, while the boy versions is all about “I hate school” and “I just want to play video games.” We send horrible signals to the current generation of boys and tell them they need medication if they instinctually wiggle and move more than girls do. Until we stop treating maleness as a problem to be solved and instead guide all that energy with appropriate educational strategies, we’re going to continue to see a lot of adult “little boys.”
Well, in the case of this interview it's because Delony explicitly says that his son was much, much easier to raise than his daughter, so he's looking for advice on his daughter specifically.
Curveball at the end there - this generation may be the most resilient. I would be thrilled if that’s the case but I am not seeing this at all. Seems every generation gets less resilient.
Gee, well they’ve been stuck inside their houses and forbidden from having fun for the past year while their parents lost their jobs and/or became alcoholics. But hey, I’m sure the real cause of increased childhood anxiety is “systemic racism.”
@@rainbowpandasays8851 My point was that the main drivers of anxiety are all from the effects of government-imposed lockdown, so discussing other factors is beating around the bush.
“Anxiety is an Overestimation of the problem
and an Underestimation of ourselves” 👏
I'm not a husband or father yet but I feel like I'll be more prepared thanks to John.
Great information! I am an elementary school social worker, and I wish all parents would watch this!

Sadly, that can also be included for some children?

@@BitterComments Children have been getting more anxious way before any lockdown.
