Ulanzi fixed all the problems with switching camera gear. I now have one plate mounted on my camera and that goes onto everything: Backpack, Tripod, Gimbal and even the Tripod from my Gimbal has a Ulanzi quick release plate so I can take that off without screwing and it also fits on the camera plate. If you are looking for a all in one solution - this is it.
Yeah i love the F38 /F22 system it’s crazy that peak design dropped the ball and didn’t build out a eco system they just stopped making products either way even if they did it would be outrageously priced
my thumbs were always hurting from the thumb screws of PD, i ended up using the hex screws instead with the allen key be it wearing in my belt or in a back-pack clip. Will also be testing the falcam v2 backpack clip if it's also comfy enough using with the belt 👍
I'm deep in the Falcam system but didn't know about this product. I was literally on the same boat as you were when it came to the backpack mount - preferred the peak design over the old falcam mount. Now selling my Peak Deisgn stuff ASAP and getting this thing. So stoked.
Ulanzi released it couple of weeks ago. I discovered the clip couple of days ago while browsing their web store. I tried to search for UA-cam reviews and there was literally one. So happy to fully leverage Falcam now as I was considering PD which is too overpriced.
You forgot to mention two of the biggest upgrades to the V2: 1. The plates are infinitely smoother to clip in and remove compared to V1 2. The V2 is compatible with almost all square QR plates from most major companies (PD, PGY, Arca, etc) My only concern for the V2 is how durable to little locking cable is on it. It looks like a similar cable used by the PD attachment points, but we all know how the V1 and V3s could actually fail at a decent rate.
The locking cable doesn't carry much of a load, though. It's just there to keep the metal bar attached and help you gauge which slot to put it into for that particular strap. Hopefully that means it won't be a problem. Very clever system.
Just got a mirrorless and have been trying to figure out which system to go with. People initially recommended PD to me but I discovered F38 thanks to your videos and this system makes more sense in every way. Cheaper, lighter, sleeker design, the F38 has a more efficient mechanism that's also easier to use both in terms of moving the clip to/from backpacks and belts, as well as everyday usage when clipping and unclipping the camera from the base. Great video, thanks for showing us every aspect of what you were talking about in practice. Now to figure out which strap system to go with...
my only concern about his tripod recommendation is the customer service seems horrendous from other people's videos. Thats why I want to go full PD. I am still undecided
i got the tripod when it was first announce, i abuse tf outa it. never had an issue other than the fact that it comes with a screw in ball head instead of the f38 ball, the only recently came out with the f38 head and it is not included with the carbon fiber tripod for whatevr reason @@floof_ball2588
ive used both. the firmness of the f38 alone is worth the investment. all the pd stuff feels loose and janky , like it works and its meant to be not so firm , but it feels expensively cheap, the f38 stuff legit feels welded on when you use it. like im sure my camera or lens would break way before the mount would fail. thats how tough the lock feels on my rs3 stabiliser
I’m glad I came across this video, I wanted something like this a year ago and stopped looking! Gonna grab one of these now. Now I just need an F38 attachment that’s compatible with Peak Design’s new Camera Clutch and I’m set. Unless Falcam’s since made one of those too? I’m off to check.
The Heipi 3in1 Travel Tripod has become my most beloved tripod. It's just so lightweight and compact while super stable at the same time. It's also cheaper than the PD tripod and beats it in pretty much every way. Its QR head also works great with everything F38. I like that the V2 of the backpack strip is non-proprietary, and I will upgrade from the V1 after watching your video. I like the V1 but it could be better. Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the video. Have been wanting to try this out but my last attempt to order I mistakenly ordered the unit to put on a tripod and not the strap clip. Now I understand what I need to order. Also, what camera bag were you demonstrating with in your video. Can you please share that info. Take care.
I have the f38 quick release system and just got the v2 backpack shoulder strap attachment as well. Thing is amazing!! Only minor complaint. Each falcon f38 base plate that I have came with different screws. One was just a flat head, one was a flat head and Allen that matches the f38 tripod Allen wrench(3mm I believe) with is awesome! Finally the new V2 backpack base plate screw came with a flat head and Allen but a 4mm Allen. Again, I’m nit picking, but would love to get one matching screw to that matches all of them. Wrote to Falcam and they said they can’t sell me 1 or 2 matching base plate screws. Looking for the flat head + 4mm Allen that is small enough to fit in Falcam base plates that not too long. If anyone knows where I can get a couple please share. David, thanks for all the great vids!!
I couldn't get both units on my newer camera bags the straps are to thick or two wide (using nomadic/lowepro/and think tank) the v1 pd works on an old Dakine camera bag
I had the peak design clip and it kept coming loose. So much so that it went in the bin as i couldn't trust it. Instead I also bought the ulanzi system, f38 and haven't looked back. Its brilliant.
1:06 I saw a review where the guy compared the construction of both tripods, he went really in depth. Conclusion was Peak design has a better construction, as the centre part the centre column goes trough is plastic on the Ulanzi, but it's metal on the Peak Design, but has a plastic part in there too, but just a bushing, so still metal for the main part. So I'm not regretting getting the Peak Design Alu on sale I think I got it for 40% off or something. Got to love sales. But Peak design offers a universal head, so you can mount any head you want. I will eventually do that.
Love my Peak Design stuff! I am not thr biggest fan of Ulanzi but I am happy there is new innovations and competition. More cool stuff for everyone!! But ya not switching, QR is great but i prefer arca swiss compatibility. 👍
Question regarding functionality? Does it work better than PD Capture Clip when fastening/unfastening the camera to the clip? I've always thought that PD's version is hit or miss if you don't get the plates aligned perfectly flat relative to one another when guiding the plate into the clip. Thoughts?
Can you please do a review on the “Ulanzi Falcam F22 & F38 & F50 Quick Release Foldable Half Cage For Camera C00B3809” also if your able to put a hdmi clamp on it 😊 , thank you
I have F38 plates attached to everything, but have used the two-way plates because the Peak Design clip fits over my Shimoda backpack strap, and F38 version 1 clip does not. I wonder if the version 2 is compatible with the Shimoda Explorer strap? I know, I know their new urban bag has solved that, but I can’t justify a new bag just for that!
7:11I was always weary about those strap clips coming loose, and camera smashing to the ground. But good to see it has a lock 10:02. But he thumb screws could be replaced with regular hex bolts I guess, you just have to match the thread pitch and head. Add some Loctite 243 to keep it secure for longer. 10:05 I guess it's made to be tricky to unlock so it won't happen by accidentally bumping it.
Peak design Arca Swiss on everything but I like this better. On question though, can the F22 plates work on the F38 backpack brackets. It would be nice to be able to put my full size camera for carrying, or my Action Or Insta360 on there for POV shots and still keep the plate size small on the action cams.
its actually really nice, but i dont know if i trust that lanyard to keep the clip in place on my backpack as i use mu PD clip with a camera while hiking, maybe i'll use it for my urban kit but not for outdoors
Love Ulanzi stuff also. I still need to figure out all the quick release parts toorder for my set-up. Just curious if you've also adapted your gopro stuff onto it also. Would be interesting to see that.
My new Falcam Backpack clip arrives tomorrow. You and Mark Bennett are costing me a fortune. 😂 Seriously, great video. Thanks for this. I was looking for a solution to carrying my camera. All the best!
Do you have to use their plate? I'm trying to find a clip that works with Arca Swiss rail. I have a Smallrig cage, that has an Arca Swiss rail at the bottom, would love to use that, since I also have a Smallrig tripod that has a removable leg, to use as a monopole, if my 3/8" hole on the bottom isn't covered. I almost think I'm going to need to get a cheese board to mount on the bottom, since every plate I've had, whether it is Cotton Carrier or Peak Design, their plate covers the 3/8" hole.

Dang it man I just bought more F38 / Peak design plates for this reason!! lol 😂 Now I want the new backpack strap and go back to using just the normal F38 plates! My F38 tripod comes in soon!! Excited! Great video as always! #loveyourcreators
I’m obsessed with the F38 system and absolutely everything I have uses it from tripod to the Ulanzi tree system etc etc and I’ll never swap. Bit like Apple I’m deep in the ecosystem !! Lol
Among other things from them, I got their F38 Quick Release For Camera Shoulder Strap V2 as, unlike the V1 one, it takes other quick release things like the Ellie PD Universal L-Bracket by 3 Legged Things.
Wrong, see 8:40 The clip is snapped shut making that hold all the weight. The cables tighten the clip to the strap of your backpack which would probably break before those cables… the cables are protected by the clip.
He doesn't show the back of the strap. It is only those 2 cables behind the strap. The first plate is in front of the strap where the 2 cables hook onto. The 2nd plate closes on that 1st plate.
That's cool. I bought PGY Tech one and I used it a few times.. Got tired of forgetting the Allen key to get the plate off the camera. I have a Few f. 38 plates though. Maybe... Hmmmm.. Maybe...
I've been using the V1 Falcam clip for 2 years now and my issue was the same with the rubbing/uncomfortable build of the backpack clip but the ecosystem is so good, this updated version looks way better and I'll have to get my hands on that!
Dang it, i gotta buy this now. I bought two of the V1's when they first came out but didn't work well for me so i just unscrewed the quickrelease portion and used that in other applications instead. But like you, i've swapped most of my peak design to Ulanzi's stuff except I still use Peak's anchor hooks and backpacks. Those are still superior in design over Ulanzi. Their anchor hooks snapped on me when carrying my 600mm.
Depends. If you have the older version of the cage that just has f38 on the bottom, yes. If you have the newer version that has a dual f38 and f50 plate, then no it won't work
I started with Arca but tried the F38 and fell in love (well, not really). Then I found out the F38 base fits the Arca plate. Now I have several F38 and F22 systems. It *DOES* get expensive.
I ordered this product but was very unimpressed with how wobbly and insecure the plate is when attached to the base. When I walk, the camera rattles around and feels very loose even though it's clipped on. It's just not a tight fit. I already own the V1 version of the Falcam backpack clip and I never had this problem.
So it's an odd conundrum. The Peak Design has the same issue, which is a bit of play side to side. The F38 V1 has no play in the system at all, but a totally different locking system. Personally, I'm okay with the bit of play in the F38 V2 system because it makes the slide in and out so smooth. I'm rarely running with my camera on and just while walking I don't notice it
Also bought a bunch of a F38 when I watched your first video about it and then got the mt-68 mini tripod as well. Loving it! But then I recently purchased the Peakdesign micro clutch which sadly doesn’t work with the F38 plate 😢 The clip looks great and definitely looks much easier to attach 😅
Hey David great video as usual, would love to make the switch to this system but I recently added the ATOL by silence corner into my setup and I love it as it slides right into my PD capture clips. Do you know if it would work on this new falcam clip. Many thanks keep up the great work 👍🏻
Was deep even before they reached out! And they've never sponsored a video on the channel, just affiliate links. Try a few pieces of their gear and you'll understand why I switched my entire system👍
I've also gone nuts and got everything F38 and F22. The only gripe I have with the V2 is.... The GoPro ball head that could fit F38 and F22 doesn't work with V2! Had anybody seen an attachment that makes this possible? I have this for my GoPro and Insta360
I ordered my mom an Aura frame for X-mas. I think that’s the first time I’ve I have acted on a video sponsor :) Also new plate looks great, the older one is a bit of a clunker.
bought the falcam v2...it's pretty disappointment. The cable used for clamping is so flimsy it made clamping extremely annoying. On top of that, the rubber anti-slip below needs to be positioned properly otherwise the clamping will uneven. So, unfortunately while the peak design's has its flaws, it is still a better clip.
Personally, I haven't been lucky. I bought the F38 travel and the quick plate that came with it wouldn't stay screwed on. Unlanzi sent me another one, and it was the same story. As soon as I put it on the tripod, it was already unscrewing and loose. I received a third one, and it was the same issue. With my Nikon Z8, the collar of my 200-500mm and 70-200mm lenses, the quick plate becomes loose by the time I put it on the tripod. I sent the whole thing back for a refund.
Interesting, I have six plates on six cameras around here and none of them have come loose. Between the Peak Design plate and F38 plate, I've had a much better experience. Especially the new F38 anti-rotation plates. Those are awesome!
The big thing about backpack falcam clip v1 is that v1 is not compatible with the falcam camera cages as v1 has too much bulk. v2 is compatible with the falcam cages ❤️
Interesting looking system. I went to their site. They have multiple connection systems, but they don't compare them and explain what the design purpose of each one is. I despise companies that leave me to figure out why they have multiple product types. They have 7 different systems and no comparison chart, no ad copy on why each one exists. I just get to waste time looking through their site. They don't even have all the same specs listed in the same way for each system. I see the F50 is rated for up to 110lbs. Still digging through F22 and F38 to find out what their load ratings are.
Just got mine a week ago, after Ulanzi Black Friday Sale. Since watching all your previous f38 vids, I was actually wondering when you’ll review it. Nice job!

I ordered 2 of these a week ago. Was wondering when we would see videos about it. Ulanzi is really knocking it out of the park lately.
Have you tried the Pgytech Snaplock? Love it. Doesn't move even after so much use.
This is awesome, can't wait for it to be available on amazon!
Just ordered this yesterday! I was having the same problem with the pointy things hurting my arm so I’m very happy they fixed it

So my question to this is if you can answer is if the F38 will accept the Peak Design Dual plate?
@@Taudris doesn't the whole thing rely on the cable?
Hi David. Is the Peak Design standard plate fully compatible with the Falcam Backpack Clip V2?
Peak design is solid. This V2 relies on a stretchable material that only lasts 3 years before it needs replacement.

I started with Arca but tried the F38 and fell in love (well, not really). Then I found out the F38 base fits the Arca plate. Now I have several F38 and F22 systems. It *DOES* get expensive.
Arca standard is 38 mm, F38 based on this. NATO rail standard is 22 mm, F22 based on this. Manfrotto standard is 50 mm, F50 based on this.
I'm rarely running with my camera on and just while walking I don't notice it
dang, nice, now I have to buy this new strap holder. I have the tripod and various other mounts for this as well. thanks for the review!
8:47 Interesting mount. I like the locking mechanism. That's simple and secure. But my concern is the strings you wrap behind the straps.
Also bought a bunch of a F38 when I watched your first video about it and then got the mt-68 mini tripod as well. Loving it! But then I recently purchased the Peakdesign micro clutch which sadly doesn’t work with the F38 plate 😢
The clip looks great and definitely looks much easier to attach 😅
Hey David great video as usual, would love to make the switch to this system but I recently added the ATOL by silence corner into my setup and I love it as it slides right into my PD capture clips. Do you know if it would work on this new falcam clip. Many thanks keep up the great work 👍🏻
whats ur vlogging tripod?
Switchpod with an F38 plate on top at the moment
Can you attach the Falcam V2 on a belt?
game changer. I'm sold.
do your peak design plate fit the f38 mounts?
It's crazy how peak design did not complete the ecosystem. Their gear was good but I switched to another one
I just got one yesterday! It's incredible
WOW!
Finally, something better than PD!!
I'd love to see a vid for an item like this and other accessories, for phone photographers
I like the F38 system. My first capture clip was polar pro version. It was awesome but also not compatible with anything.
so deep into this f38 system because they sponsored you lol
The way he placed that camera face down without the lense cap
bought the falcam v2...it's pretty disappointment. The cable used for clamping is so flimsy it made clamping extremely annoying. On top of that, the rubber anti-slip below needs to be positioned properly otherwise the clamping will uneven. So, unfortunately while the peak design's has its flaws, it is still a better clip.
7:35 I've never heard them called that, it's Knipex, not knips. Good choice of tools.
Watching this channel for me is like an alcoholic watching the wine Channel
Personally, I haven't been lucky. I bought the F38 travel and the quick plate that came with it wouldn't stay screwed on. Unlanzi sent me another one, and it was the same story. As soon as I put it on the tripod, it was already unscrewing and loose. I received a third one, and it was the same issue. With my Nikon Z8, the collar of my 200-500mm and 70-200mm lenses, the quick plate becomes loose by the time I put it on the tripod. I sent the whole thing back for a refund.
Try some blue loctite, which can always be undone.
Interesting, I have six plates on six cameras around here and none of them have come loose. Between the Peak Design plate and F38 plate, I've had a much better experience. Especially the new F38 anti-rotation plates. Those are awesome!
@@DavidManningvlog I've done some tests, and the plates with a serial number ending in "J" seem okay, while those ending in "Z" become loose.
Hand downs to Ulanzi, best user experince ever!
I use the pgytech snap lock. They have plates you put in and arca Swiss clap
Waiting for v2 to be available locally here in PH
Lol these endings are the best! Ok love the system and want a frame...bjt they dont ship to MX! 😢
Nice job!
Wow, who knew such a small thing can have a world of difference.
Great Video
