It's an amazing band that when you know about it, you really wonder how their music could have fallen out of fashion so much (like many other older stuff) that people nowadays may not know about it at all. So it's funny seeing people saying it's a hidden treasure when this album sold 20 millions copies and was probably huge everywhere. Fortunately, we have so many ways to access all this old but gold music in today's age

Had this song playing in the car while being driven through Colorado Springs on the way to Denver from Santa Fe, New Mexico. I'll never forget it. What a great roadtrip song.
Like a lot of great songs there is more to this than meets the eye. Beneath the jaunty orchestral score is the tale of a man who lusts for a glamorous life in America, before finally coming to look again at what he has at home and coming to value it more than he did. It is about growing up. Have you done that yet?
Just realized why I love this song...watch Heaven Can Wait with Warren Beatty and Julie Christie...also a great supporting cast including Dyan Cannon, Charles Grodin...the always great Buck Henry...also also James Mason...and Jack Warden. Written by Warren and Elaine May...great movie. Soundtrack sounds very similar...especially that horn. Movie was released a year before...coincidence? Movie music was Dave Grusin...worked with Sydney Pollack a lot...which ain't a bad gig. Over a 15-year period from 1979-1994, Grusin won an Academy Award, and received seven more nominations. He has been nominated for 38 Grammy Awards and won 10. He got the Oscar for The Milagro Beanfield War in 89. Nomination, Music (Original Score): Heaven Can Wait (1979), The Champ (1980), On Golden Pond (1982), The Fabulous Baker Boys (1990), Havana (1991), The Firm (1994) Damn...I can see why the boys kind of copied his style.
Absolutely A Masterpiece, a conglomeration of the finest musical instruments, pieced together an orgasmic hearing experience, topped with delicious vocals harmonizing like the sounds of heaven, soft enough for the tenderhearted but heavy enough for the hard rockers! Such emotional power touches deep into the listeners soul, nobody tops this band!
My kids were weened on this music and my daughter took me to see Roger Hodgson in Liverpool...he was brilliant and his music doesn't date....wonderful!
This cut is simply brilliant. It is also very Jewish. The Clarinet and Tuba are telltale markers of Klezmer music. Plus the “trilling” by Hodgson and Davies in the Refrain, a technique in Jewish traditional music known as the “Nigoun.”
I always believed this was one of the weaker songs on this record. The opener Gone Hollywood...and the closer Child of Vision are the standouts. Lord Is It Mine...is beautiful. All in all...a truly great record...but 79 had lots...remember The Wall? The outro on Child of Vision...is sublime.
Eh lepa prelepa srećna vremena srećni ljudi srećan i bezbrižan život Nikad više nažalost Al sve što je lepo kratko traje Biće valjda ponovo u nekom drugom životu Sva sreća i ljubav za sve dobre ljude ovoga sveta
At first, I thought this was just a fazed out painting of NY... but LOVE that the longer you look, the more you see of how its breakfast products.. Total genius band
Sorry for your loss. Cherish the memories. I remember my grandmother always had her camera with her now I really know why. Supertramp is timeless with the great Roger Hodgson.
I was 11 when this came out. At that time I was on a quest to spend every dollar I earned on every single Moody Blues album made up to that point. This album was always staring at me in the record store taunting me.

Not a lot) Take a jumbo across the water Like to see America See the girls in California I'm hoping it's going to come true But there's not a lot I can do, hey Ba da da dum Ba da da dum Ba da da da dum [Instrumental]

I was in Mexico City from a far poor village and a guy I work with had this album. I was 16 and dream to go to USA I m here for 34 years already it’s been a dream and still are
For some reason I thought this was a Streetheart song, I binged all their albums and still couldn't find this. The voice and music style is SO similar to Supertramp's, so I recorded it on the radio first chance I got and put it through a music identifier, and here I am now. It's Supertramp! I love how this song transitions between moods, sounding kinda angry, then getting nostalgic, then back again and so on. I love it when a song's instrumentation matches the lyrics. Like, that drop right when he says "Hoping it's going to come true" is perfect, the song becomes all dreamy right when the lyrics do the same. It kicks ass.
Simply one of the greatest albums ever recorded. From the opening track to the last there is not a throwaway song on this entire album
Completely underrated. I'm glad my parents had good taste, otherwise I wouldn't know about bands like this or Electric Light Orchestra that aren't as well known for whatever reason but have some of the best music you can find.

Damn...I can see why the boys kind of copied his style.
Supertramp you will never be forgotten,at least not into my heart 💕
👌🎼😉💜🕡🕡🕡🕡
子供の頃、外人も歌を歌ってるんだと認識したのはBEEGEES、その次がSUPERTRAMPでしたが、この曲をとても好きになり、一時期邦楽から離れるきっかけになりました。
Eine der besten Bands überhaupt.🇩🇪
I honestly didn't realize this was an old song! 😳 ❤️
Cada dia mais sinto que meu coração está sempre mais apaixonado por ritmos de músicas internacionais maiorias
Musical history and folklore will be kind to Supertramp...
Very interesting👍
Enormes, grandiosos,inolvidables, exquisitos,elegantes,imprescindibles.SUPERTRAMP.
I love this song from italy 🇮🇹
小学生の頃、おこずかいを貯めてレコード店でシングルEP盤を買ったのを思い出します、今から45年くらい前ですかね。
Bought this 8 track since 1979 and still have it. Have listened to it over 10000 times, I am sure.
Can’t believe the 8-track survived that many plays - nothing wrong with analog !
This music got me threw many days on the assembly line .great music .fun when you can get everyone to sing this song .thanks for your music.....
Eh lepa prelepa srećna vremena srećni ljudi srećan i bezbrižan život
Nikad više nažalost
Al sve što je lepo kratko traje
Biće valjda ponovo u nekom drugom životu
Sva sreća i ljubav za sve dobre ljude ovoga sveta
Man, I’ve forgotten how much I love this song!
Primo album LP acquistato; frequentavo la quarta ginnasio, le loro melodie mi aiutarono tantissimo per lo studio del greco e latino ❤
At first, I thought this was just a fazed out painting of NY... but LOVE that the longer you look, the more you see of how its breakfast products.. Total genius band
9-11 predictive programming.
Look at it in a mirror
and the lady holing the orange juice represents the Statue of Liberty!
@@radadadadee Yeah, its an absolute Brilliant art work
@@radadadadee great eye, didn't even notice it
Uwielbiam wstęp utworu i jego tonację. Jescze ta okładka albumu... Świetnie 👌👌👌
Supertramp, one of the greatest bands in music history. I love it. And this is my favorite song.
My sister. Four yrs older than ....turned me on to the best music. I am 52. Early 80s late 70s. The best musical era , mu opinion in last 75 yrs
The album that is an indication that the 1980’s are coming rapidly!!!
Sorry for your loss. Cherish the memories. I remember my grandmother always had her camera with her now I really know why. Supertramp is timeless with the great Roger Hodgson.
I had this album years ago and it's still great!!!
I heard that song for the first time, 44 years ago and I still remember my amazment as if it had just happened yesterday.
I was 11 when this came out. At that time I was on a quest to spend every dollar I earned on every single Moody Blues album made up to that point. This album was always staring at me in the record store taunting me.
11 meditating, dreaming on the Moody Blues? I bet you're an alright soul. Supertramp was cool but lost their morals when they had too many breakfasts in America. Ha!
This will forever remind me of my Dad and my childhood this album ❤
Beautiful tunes..saw them on their last tour in Vancouver
One of my favourite memories is of doing a puzzle with my dad while listening to this album and singing along… sounds silly, but it was great
[Verse 1]
Take a look at my girlfriend
She's the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend
I never seem to get a lot
Take a jumbo across the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I'm hoping it's going to come true
But there's not a lot I can do
[Verse 2]
Could we have kippers for breakfast
Mummy dear, Mummy dear?
They gotta have 'em in Texas
'Cause everyone's a millionaire
I'm a winner, I'm a sinner
Do you want my autograph?
I'm a loser, what a joker
I'm playing my jokes upon you
While there's nothing better to do, hey
[Instrumental]
[Verse 3]
Don't you look at my girlfriend (Girlfriend)
She's the only one I got
Not much of a girlfriend (Girlfriend)
I never seem to get a lot (What she's got? Not a lot)
Take a jumbo across the water
Like to see America
See the girls in California
I'm hoping it's going to come true
But there's not a lot I can do, hey
Ba da da dum
Ba da da dum
Ba da da da dum
[Instrumental]
Mommy* 😎

You have the fortune by your side. That decision change your life 360° definitely. You have soo much Lucky.
He gave you a tremendous gift 😊 bet you didn't realize it until he was gone unfortunately. Rock on and enjoy the memories! 😊
Mon enfant remonte à la surface incroyablement que de souvenirs super music
Man, I must've listened to this album a hundred times as a kid.
Nostalgia, man.
Non ci sono parole!!! The best!!! L' illuminato fabio Petrucci!!!❤❤❤
De mais musica linda de mais e ainda mais apaixonante está música de mais revela sonhos❤❤❤
I love the clarinet. It gives it a little twist.
It's the tuba for me
For some reason I thought this was a Streetheart song, I binged all their albums and still couldn't find this.
Nothing says 1979 than this album.
Меня тоже с этой прекрасной работой альбома ,, завтрак в Америке ‘’ познакомил старший брат ! Спасибо
