    Found this channel 2 years late but enjoyed this so much. I'm a new Hoya owner (Mathilde) and love her. Thanks

    when I first got into hoyas I had always assumed they didn't need humidity cuz they're so succulent-like! I only have basic hoyas like the pubicalyx splash, krimson queen+princess and they seem to be doing ok with no humidity...for now at least!

      those do perfect without high humidity but here i'm mainly talking about slightly less common hoyas which can get a little tricky with certain growing conditions!

    There are so many. I have 59 different species and don't own either a green house or humidifier and they do wonderfully.

      glad yours are doing so well! unfortunately without a humidifer, canadian winters are just too dry...even for me and I'm not a tropical plant LOL

    my hoya Matilde wants more humidity to be growing in my area in Texas and is in my rudsta cabinet at the moment and scared to take it out of there because it begins to dry up

    Ahh love them, Gloria! Every time I see your rotundiflora I'm reminded I need one 😆 I'm also struggling with mealies. They seem to be very stubborn pests. How do you treat yours?

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  3 роки тому

      i treat mine with alcohol and a cotton swab so just spot treatment. if i get really fed up i eventually spray it with safers end all! hopefully you get rid of yours!

    Perfect timing before the dry summer arrives here. I want to get a few more plants but don't want to have to worry about needing another humidifier. Looks like I'll be shopping for hoyas!

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  3 роки тому

      yah we have a lot of dry heat in the summer here in toronto but still much more humidity in the air compared to winter when humidity drops to like 10% without my humidifer running full blast at all hours of the day!

    I like Hoyas because they don't need high humidity and will thrive in warm and bright room. You got nice collection of Hoyas. Thanks for sharing.

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  3 роки тому +1

      i wouldnt consider sigilatis as an easy hoya. it rots quite easily. but yes the australis lisa is quite easy!

    How do you know when to water the rotundiflora? Do the leaves get soft? I killed mine but I’d like to try again.

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  2 роки тому +1

      the leaves do get a bit softer but for the most part when it was in soil, i hardly had to water it.

    I got a not very good looking Obovata a few months ago and it isn’t growing. (The roots are in good shape). Do you think I should take it out of the glass cabinet green house? Or is it just a super slow grower?

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  3 роки тому

      i think once the obovate roots well it will grow new leaves for you!!!

    Why did you pick to sell on etsy and not shopify?

    • @GloriasPlants
      @GloriasPlants  3 роки тому +2

      both are good platforms to sell but i find more artists are on etsy as it is catered to more handmade items. however, might swtich over to shopify at some point but just didn't want to deal with the learning curve for that site! etsy seems to be more user friendly at the moment
