HM166: TRS Trains 'REAL STEAM' smoke generator
Вставка

- TRS Trains is a new name in modelling and is offering a custom digital controlled smoke generator and sound installation as part of its range of services. Interestingly, this isn’t using conventional smoke generators such as the oil-filled Seuthe type - the TRS Trains products make steam with bottled water with the exhaust effect synchronised to the sounds of the locomotive for added realism.

Hi Mike, three years later and Hornby bring out the LNER P2, Hornby have seriously researched this requirement and resolved a lot of TRS engineering and application shortcomings.
Still going strong, thanks for all hard work you have afforded this undertaking over the years.
Wonderful! To think that back in the 60's when Triang did their syncrosmoke or whatever it was called, the purists of the day rejected it as a gimmick.
I see Richard has made it to the layout as well... just in a miniaturized form! 😅
I spotted that as well - brilliant!
I had to go back and find him! Great spotting.
1:36- he’s surveying the signal box!
Very impressive, at least if they bring out coach steam heating modules they can be very realistic by providing dummy units, I'll never forget a last train out of Kings Lynn to London.
Kyle is a bloody wizard his stuff is brilliant he’s also done a j94tank locomotive as well
I would have thought distilled water would be better than mineral water, what about limescale buildup?
Wow! A Hornby model train that actually has steam coming out of it.
Certainly the most convincing smoke generators I've seen when stationary or moving slowly. Much better than some of the feeble wispy efforts. However at speed the steam/smoke just goes straight up in the air still instead of trailing back along the top of the train which is all wrong. I guess we have to accept that there are some laws of physics that make it impossible to realistically miniaturise everything. I would also worry if used too much what the humidity would do to scenery.
Ever watched Thomas & friends?
Well done Kyle, smashed it with the smoke now!
Very authentic - I think it will re-vitalize the interest in steam locos
wow...i dont have to make the sounds myself now !
This makes the Hornby Live Steam locomotives obsolete! lol😂
Looks very good plenty of time for a running session.
Can this system be retro fitted to any loco, i have several locos which i would dearly like to have this system instead of the oil type
Brilliant! I love it.
Very effective looks great.
Brilliant, video absolutely loved it.Then,i love all your video,s.Simply,amazing.A,credit to you.💯💯.
wish they had this when i was a kid
Nice could you demonstrate the sounds on the Merchant Navy Class too
Hey. Are the smoke generators going to be available separately and will they work with any dc or dcc locomotives?
The synchronised sound and chuff was beautiful, how damp does everything get with the vapour settling?
Hi mate, trs here.
It doesn't, the smoke is water vapour so 98% just evaporates
@@trstrains9330 I fancy this. Is the steam unit available for purchase & self fit please?
@@trstrains9330 these are truly impressive. I have memories of my dads old GW pannier that smoked with oil, everything was left with residue!
Impressive - need tofind out price.
Can these steam units be purchased as DYI kits? I have a use, not related to trains at all. More of a scenic ground fog effect. I prefer this water system. Looked into those disc ones out out of China. But require an open water dish.
These are only available as an installation by TRS Trains as each one is a bespoke project.
Amazing
Can you switch it off in the fiddle yard, only to start going on again without needing to refill?
I’m sure he said you can turn it on and off with F20?
Perhaps you could put some dye in the water?
I wondered about that too. It m,ight leave some realistic weathering to the top of the loco too.👍👌😁 With the price of the loco, I think I'd be getting some advice 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 trying it out; can't see what damage it would cause though.
I have a Flying Scotsman like that
Dies it heat it to create actual steam or does it just generate vapour?
It uses an ultrasonic atomiser to make the water into mist shock then leaves the exhaust. Purely electronic with no heat.
That is pretty good. Health wise certainly using water is a very good thing. I imagine you need to be careful not to drip water onto the track. If we have any shows this year ... this would be something to look out for. I imagine they can do 0 gauge too.
Correct, we also offer cylinder drains in o gauge
I want denser clouds of smoke like you get from an e-cigarette. And no water.
And black 5 and Hogwarts Express
If it's water that's used, wouldn't that be steam that's coming out instead of smoke then
Barely see any smoke !
show me 'REAL DIESEL'😆
Warning:Smoking is dangerous for your health
That's why steam is better.
It's just mist but mist is a gateway vapour to oil smoke generators.
Sorry , it's just not realistic
Show us what you can do then
Steam at 100C and above plus a plastic body shell sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.
No heat is used. Its a cold water machine.
@@trstrains9330 Still sounds bad, water and electrics don't mix. Plus any iron bits on your railway will rust.
That's not steam, it's a kind of "mist" created by a tiny ultrasonic vaporizer. As long as your keep the loco running I see no risk of a short circuit.
@@davidwatts1871 Well water and electric do mix, and are only dangerous if it happens in a uncontrooled method.
