- Here is a digitally remastered audio of 1962 concert, which has been restored for the purpose of posterity.
My esteemed friend, Shri. T K Ramkumar was the first person to listen this remastered version and here is his reflections..

It is a month since Balamuralikrishna left us, but his music continues to haunt and haunt a trifle more.
I chanced to listen once again to the 1962, IFAS Bombay, nagumOmu in AbhEri today. How many times one has heard it and found something new each time! Despite his not being around, yet in every minute of the seventy one minutes presentation he was very much in it. That was new this time. And more, specifically, some tears moistened the eyes after the AlApana.
No critic or connoisseur, worth the salt, would have missed listening to this particular rendition for three reasons--
a. The soul stirring presentation by Balamuralikrishna,
b. A live demonstration that the whole can be greater than the sum of parts, and
c. The unforgettable cadences of melody, hung on the phrase g m p g r s used elegantly as a hook, for a full nine minutes.
Balamuralikrishna's genius in rendition, M S Gopalakrishnan's genius in bowing, and T V Gopalakrishnan's genius in stroking made this, one of the many pieces of the 'magic of Krishna Traya' that they conjured. They were truly a league of their own.
Listen once again to this time worn but ever fresh AbhEri and savour genius.
Heard this some 100 times in the last 2 months. Every time its refreshingly beautiful…Best Abheri, ever heard… Immortal….MSG’s violin is so spontaneous and further embellishes the beauty….Two geniuses at their best. Finally, Hats off to Sri Srinivasa Murthy for his tremendous efforts in sharing this to all music lovers 🙏

Namaskarams to all the devotees of Bala Muralikrishna garu. Every devotee has his own feelings and opinion which are given here and make all of us happy. My father and myself are ardent devotees of Sangeetha Jagadguru Sri Bala Murali garu. When I read the feelings of so many it gives me immense amount of happiness. But always I used to feel there is some thing else to be known about him. Once, in the recent past, when I was in Pooja in the morning I had a vision where I could see Lord Shiva and Jaganmatha and heard a conversation between them where Jaganmatha was asking Shiva whether there is any person who could sing to his dance. Then Shiva asked her to sing in Kailaasam. When Amma was about to start Shiva interrupted her and said if you sing here You are making only me happy. But if you go down to earth and sing you can make chores of human beings happy. Following Lord Shiva's Aagna Jaganmatha (Lalitha Para bhattarika), descended down to earth from Manidweepam and took birth as Sangeetha Jagadguru Sri Mangalampalli Balamurali Krishna garu. When I had this vision I had a doubt whether I am just visualizing on my own being a devotee of Bala Murali garu. But it is not so. Those are the visuals shown by Jaganmatha. So, Amma was here for almost 8 decades mesmerized, enthralled and gave Nectar to us until the end of Kaliyuga. So we are all fortunate to have taken birth when he was alive. Once again my namaskarams to all the devotees of Bala Murali garu.
I was addicted to Balamurali when I was in college. Now I am 45. I dont know what all feelings comes when I just listen his old recordings. He becomes one of my closest blood relatives❤

no doubt about BMK's many masterpieces that were rendered with such authority and poise. I miss him and i write this while i am listening to his Amruthavarshini gem. what a musician that we lost.My desire is to join hands with the like minded rasikas to raise a memorial in memory of that supreme artist. The carnatic music would never see such a brilliance again.
Saranathan Asuri sir! It seems his amrithavarshini had brought rains in Bellary and he had to stop his concert. This happened somewhere in 1979.

What an amazing Abheri by the legends BMK and MSG. During a personal interaction, MSG sir told me that only one among a crore can sing like BMK. BMK sir also spoke very highly of MSG when I asked the former a pointed question about MSG. Both are epitome of mamodharmam.
Sir, could you please share the details. Because it is very interesting to know the opinions of two genius about each other. Please do share sir.

I just couldn't resist to immerse to this greatest of the great classics of music...it just popped in my screen and lo iam hearing again for the umpteenth time...while I hear I will be ungrateful if I don't thank murthy garu for posting this...I feel many souls might have been enlightened hearing this classic...it is the best way to grow old while innerside still young...DIVINE

I must have listened this classic rendition hundred times.Whenever iam in a subdued state mentally I listen this to get back to my good self.
I have been listening to this almost everyday for the past month now and I feel transported. BTW, has anyone noticed the humor in the interaction between BMK and MSG ?
We all know that BMK's musical genius is not of just this birth but a fruition of possibly many janmas of sadhana. I have heard classical music of many great singers from the time they started recording them; I have not heard any musician who is as complete as BMK. A complete musician is one who has a pleasing voice ( shaareera), clarity of expression (bhaava), knowledge of music (gnaana), and creativity. BMK was gifted with everything. As TVG once said BMK is the only musician who could sing in all the three octaves and what's more even touch the 4th octave with ease, clarity and smoothest voice. I consider myself fortunate that I could hear him through the sixties and seventies when he was at his prime and peak of his faculties. Of course, the power of his great voice never dimmed even in his last concert well into his eighties. This concert, given at the age of 32 (if the date on the video is correct), displays BMK's great musical range. Though many great violinists accompanied him, I always felt that MSG (another genius!) was perhaps the only one who could follow BMK like a shadow bringing out the finest nuances of brigaa that only BMK was capable of. Similarly, TVG was perhaps the best mridangist who could match BMK note for note with his percussion. As for creativity, I consider BMK the greatest vaagheyakaara to have lived in the last 100 years certainly and possibly since the time of the the great Trimurthis. He truly deserves the Bharat Rathna even if given posthumously.
Just thrilled with your accolades on our guruji...It brought goose bumps all over...Always an exhilarating experience to hear guruji or someone speak on guruji...You are a fortunate one to have followed him so long...I happened to hear his purported last concert where despite his illness he went on singing...Such a great soul and a great loss for our music.
, Bharat Ratna would haveen apt if given during his lifetime. He will remain a "ratna" in the music lovers' memories.
As rightly said by Sri Easwaran, MSG and TVG were like shadows of BMK during their accompaniment. To a large extent Lalgudi, whenever he accompanied BMK, was also equally excellent. Abheri at it’s glory. Thanks Sreenivasa Murthy Sir.

Though years have passed since the upload by Sri Sreenivasa Murthy of this masterpiece on the Internet and many rasikas have posted numerous valuable comments hitherto, there’s is always dearth of appreciations to this musical legend. One can’t be silent without offering one’s comment every time he listens to this wonderful rendition, though it is one of the very many such ones. What an invaluable service you are rendering Sreenivasa Murthy sir to the classical music lovers! My words are perhaps insufficient to laud it. I am of the firm belief that the “Krishnadvaya’’ (MSG & TVG) is the perfect one in understanding the style of Sri BMK in the handling of main “Kriti’’ and “Swara Prastaram’’. What a perfect follow up indeed! Very many thanks to Sri Sreenivasa Murthy sir.

Thank you Srinivasa rao garu. Although my comment seems to be 7 years too late 😅. I was recently listening to a different singer duet's version of Nagu momu. I really enjoyed their rendition, but it was so full of vigour and playful banter, that i wondered if it suited the sombre mood of Thyagaraja Swami in this krithi. Then i wondered "how would have BMK dealt with it ? I m sure Srinivasa Rao garu would have uploaded a choicest abheri". And then i found this again ❤
I cant describe in words - ఇంత సౌఖ్యమని నే చెప్పజాల - how and what బాలమురళి does. He somehow paints a vivid painting without it being overtly "music proficiency". Does he zoom in on each piece ? Someone who has good command on words and music, please listen to this and write out what బాలమురళి achieved here.

Though not the Krishna-traya, my first time hearing this song was at the Rama Seva Mandali concert ca. mid-1970s. Much the same leisurely development of the rāga and I remember it was Sri U K S on the mrdangam. The thaniyāvartanam was amazing. I can't remember who played the violin. The crowd was huge!

Superb Abheri and Sri Mangalampalli Varu took it to Himalayan heights . Any number of times I heard this and every time I find something transposing me to another sphere. One feels the presence of Jagamele Paramatma. Sri MS Gopalakrishnan garu was equally great with his bow. My thin words cannot express my happiness.

Yes Sri BMK's concert in Minneapolis was in October. 1979 accompanied by Sri Annavarappu Ramaswamy on the violin and Sri Tanjavore Upendran on the mridangam We were all TRULY MESMERIZED that memorable night His rendering Of AYA KALAIKELLA ARASIYE in praise of Godess Saraswati was sung by GOD who came in the form of Sri BMK I again would be grateful if any of could upload this song I have searched many databases but could not find this masterpiece
