Tom so psyched Wilson was there, and he kept up wow. Man, new found respect for Tom. At the end you see how happy Wilson was he grabbed Tom. It's funny cuz Tom admitted he doesn't write or play instruments he's just an entertainer. But man when he links up with these soul singers... AMAZING. It's no wonder Tom is a Legend. He earned it, he's on the UK voice and now I see why, he knows that the industry still looks for entertainers. He has a good eye and great ear fantastic voice... still.
no, it's a mistake in choosing songs for the duet ... Otis is a nuisance for the Duet, they should have sung Sittin 'on a Dock and similar songs (that's like Hey Jude)
Before Spotify and UA-cam allowed us to listen all the music we want, when LPs were expensive and most people could only afford some tenths as a whole-life collection, I can't imagine how exciting would be waiting on TV for this show and eventually watching this performance.
What a great performance in musical brotherhood and soul from men with all-powerful vocals and similar style! Oh, how my skin grew at the magnificence of this duet's artistry! WP:RIP!
The stage is just dripping with soul, oh my they match each other every step of the way, there's no dead weight, every single note counts and then some. They're having a ball and the band is tight and awesome too. We just don't have big hitters like this anymore. This performance was musical magic.
In the 60s I worked with a friend of Wilson picket. I listen to his music my coworker talked a lot on the phone with him.. When Pickett was in town I asked my co worker to ask him to come to lunch. I took them both to lunch at a famous place called Sloppy Louie’s a famous seas food place when the Fulton fish market was still under the east river drive. So that is how I met Wilson Pickett.
When I was little me and my mother used to wash the Tom Jones show in the 60s and she told me that Tom Jones dance so good did he had to have some black in him then you put Wilson Pickett beside him what a great combination great music to great singers
Interesting observation. You are quite right, indeed, the story I heard was that they met by chance on a plane once and Otis told Tom Jones that initially he thought Jones was black. Remarkable!! An perfect example of what might have been.
Two of My Favorite Rhythm and Soul Singers; TOM JONES & WILSON PICKETTE r.i.p. Covering A 60s' Hit and DanceCraze BAREFOOTIN by New Orleans Own ROBERT(BAREFOOTIN)PARKER r.i.p.luv ya byo eJ😁😎🤘🖤💙✌
Tom could hold his own for sure - pity he went down the MOR cabaret route, he's a mean soul singer (fantastic clip on YT of him & Janis Joplin doing Raise Your Hand)
Bambi ya got a be kiddin' they are both equal....Wilson more like James Brown in the voice and Tom Jones smooth like Sam Cooke....no need to compare they are both great .....just open ya ears
Tom was from Wales, as far as you can get from deep southern, R&B, soul. He had a great voice and learned well from the singers he admired and patterned himself after.
Wilson got to drinking later on talking smack about Tom Jones, meant nothing as Wilson finally met his match when he least expected it and with whom he least expected. I'd a loved to see David Ruffin and Tom together on Motown covers of Tempts songs. Wilson, Bobby Womack, Solomon Burke, Ruffin, Jonny Taylor, Rance Alllen, all elite vocalists who slayed anything they got their vocals on, Tom Jones holds his own with any of them.
Jackie Wilson was THE BEST EVER! Sam Cooke was too! But always remember....there is NO COLOR TO SOUL!! ( Daryl Hall for one & Tom and ME TOO!!.....NICKYDEPAOLA.COM
DeeNice681 Tom has smooth soul - European Soul vs American Soul in warmth and brotherhood. If human beings can only coalesce thus, irrespective of natural and man-made variables, the world will be a better living shelter for ALL of us.
This performance generated enough energy to power the entire state of Minnesota for 6 months.
Minnesota must Love June 7th, Prince, Tom Jones, Dean Martin, Dave Navarro, Chuck Negron and ME

Tom Jones sang with Everybody and did a damn good job. Wonderful entertainer, superb male voice & so pleasing to the eye. 😉
Tom Jones vocals stand up pretty well here duetting with the peerless ‘wicked Pickett’... and they both seem to be having a whole lot of fun!
two of the best voices on the planet ever!
They put ALL the soul and funk into this performance - love it!
MR JONES can hold his own with anyone. My God what an amazing performer x
The Wicked Pickett, my favorite soul singer of the era.
Those two together really make a team Wilson Pickett and Tom Jones really killed those songs out there on that stage.
no, it's a mistake in choosing songs for the duet ... Otis is a nuisance for the Duet, they should have sung Sittin 'on a Dock and similar songs (that's like Hey Jude)
Tom Jones, what a voice. His tone, and power is 2nd to none. His scream have so much energy to it that it sounded scary sometimes.
The Tiger and The Wicked One-what a duet! Awesome!
Two peas in a pod with nearly identical voices.
Props to Tom Jones for jumpin in the Lion's Den.....a true gentleman and GREAT artist!
Class respect harmony power Joy. what a duet!

Wow. They could both leave their hats on!!! They're fantastic!!!!!!
fantastic performance, fantastic voices
Two Fine looking Men!!❤
One word: WOW!
What a great performance in musical brotherhood and soul from men with all-powerful vocals and similar style!
Oh, how my skin grew at the magnificence of this duet's artistry!
WP:RIP!
two of the best voices ever ...
If anybody ever doubted Tom's genetic diversity!.................
Tom Jones has a lot of soul
He certainly was one very white soul brother!!
he sure worked at it with the black artists 🎨

Man, glad I found this one !! 😎
I once saw Tom Jones in concert in Vegas, he put on a hell of a great show , I never had the opportunity to see Wilson Pickett in concert.
In the 60s I worked with a friend of Wilson picket. I listen to his music my coworker talked a lot on the phone with him.. When Pickett was in town I asked my co worker to ask him to come to lunch. Lucky you!!

Happy days !!!!!!!!
Such an chill dude!! Tom Jones! Long live Tom Jones
This is such a great clip. Just think if Otis Redding had lived, no doubt he would have been a guest on this show.
I can just imagine Tom & Otis joining forces on Try a Little Tenderness-they would have brought the house down with that one!
Interesting observation. You are quite right, indeed, the story I heard was that they met by chance on a plane once and Otis told Tom Jones that initially he thought Jones was black. Remarkable!! An perfect example of what might have been.
This is good stuff. Legends both.
Holy shit I am sooooooo IN L💗VE with this I can not handle it!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love it love it love it

Wilson putting that real shit in there
Best song McCartney ever wrote. Who's with me?
Tom could hold his own for sure - pity he went down the MOR cabaret route, he's a mean soul singer (fantastic clip on YT of him & Janis Joplin doing Raise Your Hand)
FACTS! The Soul that oozes from his sweat and blood. Sure would've been a powerhouse blues/Jazz/Soul/r&b artist.
Oh yessss, the clip of he & Janis is the bomb!
Yes, if only he'd have recorded in Memphis like Dusty Springfield did. It would have been an all time classic with the right songs.
I absolutely love Wilson Picketts voice and what a little screamer... Tom you're a lucky man to have had a duet with this soul brother.
Bambi9753 HONESTLY, I CANNOT STAND PICKETT. ITS LIKE NAILS ON A CHALKBOARD.
THe Wicked Picket was also lucky to sing with TJ they complimented each other so well what a duo
Bambi ya got a be kiddin' they are both equal....Wilson more like James Brown in the voice and Tom Jones smooth like Sam Cooke....no need to compare they are both great .....just open ya ears
Nicely done , Bambi9753!
@Bambi, neither as good as Sam Cooke but Tom is equal to Wilson and most definitly is a soul singer and it is natural to him.
Tom Jones could be a good blue eyed soul singer when he put his mind to it !
Ah... ya think?
Tom didn't have to "put his mind to it", it came naturally.
Brothers, separated at birth. Reunited again.
Soul Music
The best of the best!
that's good stuff
Wilson the king of soul screamin !!! NOBODY DID IT BETTER not even James Brown !!
I didn't think that anyone could out sing Tom .
That is Wilson Pickett! But Tom Jones knows how to appreciate what amazing duet they make.
GOOD-GOOD OLDY, 2/2/17
Tom,
What baptist church did you go to!
You are the koolest white man!
ESPECIALLY GREY....MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
Tom was from Wales, as far as you can get from deep southern, R&B, soul. He had a great voice and learned well from the singers he admired and patterned himself after.
Great.
no one sang R and B better than Wilson, no one
wlson wicked pickett just is in the zone
Looking at his eyes, he's out of his face on something...
Joder!! Q bueno.
Thought this was mustang sally
WOWWWW
OMG... Tom is only there to keep Wilson on cue.
fantastic job.
👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
SHOWW
TOO much soul! Just kidding.. no such thing!

What is the title of this song?
What is this? Man!!
Funny to find out that Wilson didn't really like Jones.
+Bens_97 irregardless, this was a smokin' duet from 2 of the best power voices of all time
+Mike Evans Definitely a great duet! Wish they included Mustang Sally in this duet.
that would've been sweet
Neither did Lennon and McCartney. Your point is pointless.
and you have a point?
Jones wins!
Earl Grey JONES ALWAYS WINS. HE MADE PAVAROTTI SWEAT.
Surely you jest? No way in hell Jone's vocals even come close to Wilson's.
@@sglov25 Las vocales? Querrás decir los gritos y pujidos! Bah!
Bobby Womack, James Brown, Johnnie Taylor, Jackie Wilson would have got Tom too!
Jackie Wilson was THE BEST EVER! Sam Cooke was too! But always remember....there is NO COLOR TO SOUL!! ( Daryl Hall for one & Tom and ME TOO!!.....NICKYDEPAOLA.COM
I agree with you. There a number of black singers Tom would out sing too, like most of the ones singing today!

I am going take a wild guess, you are not American!
Pickett is in perfect tune
