My everyday camera setup is the X-Pro2 and the Nikon FA, FA with a 28mm Zeiss and the X-Pro with a manual 23mm lens. I commented on instagram about presets as well haha, I think they’ll do really well and your style and recreation of the film look is spot on! Keep it up Dylan!
Everything you do is beautiful. The colours and composition are so lovely. I'm so impressed with what you do with the footage from the Sony A7S3. Listening to you is like attending a masterclass! There! That wraps up all my compliments! xx
So glad to have come across your channel. Everything is so tastefully done and truly inspiring. All I want to do it take my camera out after watching one of your videos. I have really lacked passion for a while now. Bring on the presets/luts!
Just stumbled upon your channel and loved everything about it. From the calm way you present the premises, to the photos, to the videos, to the music. Everything is just so...I dunno, sterile and vibrant at the same time. Breathtaking!
you are most welcome. I almost never do that but i really am enjoying your stuff. I’ve been shooting digital for many years but am adding film back now and really enjoying it. Brings me back to the “old” day. Best of luck and happy new year.
The photos are wonderful and the subjects, shots and colors are really inspiring- love the warm colors! - but it really has to be said that your video skills are totally off the charts, the shots and grade in the videos you make are incredible. I would love to hear about your process there, are you shooting slog3? How do you grade it? Amazing! Anyway, this is incredible work, Dylan, really enjoy the vibes and videos, keep it up!
Really appreciate the compliments! Yes, I shoot in slog3 and grade in DaVinci Resolve. I'll try to figure out a way to chat about all of that little by little. Everything I know is just from studying color and movies and such along with trial and error for the last 11 years or so working in the industry. Hard to figure out where to start with teaching, etc. I'm working on it, though!
This video took me twice as long to get through because I literally paused it every 3 seconds. Every frame is 🤌🏻 So much talent!!! P.S. The lines of jelly on those PB&J’s are a next level/pro technique 😂
Presets would be cool. But it would also be cool to see a video on your editing process. There’s not enough valuable guides out there on how to achieve film looks on digital.
Hi Dylan, I am super fortunate to have found your channel. It's an excellent exhibition of filmmaking, storytelling and photography done with complete humility. In regard to creating a preset pack, maybe think about creating an online course for editing and colour grading? Whilst presets are great I would love to know more about the tools and find my own "style" (teach a person to fish instead of giving them one). I would be happy to pay for an online course as would many others judging by the comments across your videos. Montana is a wonderful state and we were blessed to have lived there whilst we were in the US before moving to Europe. I miss the open space and awe inspiring landscapes there so much. Thanks for all the great content. Best wishes, Scott
Constantly inspiring me to go outside even after a long day at work! Thank you so much for the rich emotions that your video and colour grading always gives!
My (somewhat) similar duo would be my late dad’s F2 that he bought brand new in 1972 (was the family camera growing up) along with my LOVELY little Fuji X-E4. But if I want to keep things even lighter, instead I’ll substitute the F2 with my little Contax 139Q with pancake 45mm Zeiss lens. Really enjoy your videos!🙏🏼
Hi Dylan, I just discovered you & your work in another of your videos (the X-T5 one, I'll be moving from Canon back to Fuji soon), both that one and this one really hitting me hard in the feels. The beauty of your shots (stills/vids) combined with the music made me really emotional (in a good way!). In all it's just a wonderful vibe that drives inspiration, you make me want to be better, and of course, to travel!! Thanks so much. Keep up the amazing work. You definitely should create some presets! I'm currently mainly using Capture One, the UI is amazing, but I don't like the way it renders colours, for Canon RAWs at least. And LR, although I think the UI sucks (am spoilt by C1), I always see that my fave togs use LR, and I think the colours are generally better for my tastes (I love the film look). I guess the ultimate would be for you to do a 'colour grading for stills' vid! Just to even see if C1 has the tools & capability to achieve what you do in LR. Though I guess that's a lot to ask! :) Anyway, take care, Dylan, and keeping up the amazing work. Cheers Steve
Thank you so much for the comment, Steve! Really appreciate you taking the time to watch and give feedback. I am one of those who uses Lightroom as well, it has sort of become second nature over the years. I’m sure both programs can achieve the same look given all the tools they include. I will likely do some videos surrounding color and my approach to editing in the future, I’ve gotten a handful of asks for that. Anywho - thanks again!
I wanted to let go of my x100v for a x-t5 recently. Glad I chose not to do so. I carry this camera with me everywhere almost daily and it's been such a faithful companion. Your videos are really inspirational and watching the photos you take with the x100v is so inspiring to get better and put more effort into my photography. Thank you my guy! btw, your tattoos are awesome too haha!
Ah man, love to hear that. Thank you so much for the kind words! It really is such an incredible little daily companion. Also, thanks about the tattoos, haha!
I came across your channel last week, and glad I did, I really like your videos! Love the relaxed atmosphere + your pictures look really nice. As a Fuji shooter (GFX + a small XE-3), I'd love to know more about your color editing process! Thanks and keep up the great work.
Thanks! Appreciate the kind words. I just shoot raw and edit in Lightroom to taste as each photo needs, no presets or film recipes or anything like that. Hope that helps!
Great pics! Just subscribed. I also take a minimalist approach. I have a Nikon F6 which I normally use with an old 35-70 af-d (or a small 28mm if I’m gonna be in the city only). For digital I just replaced my x100f with a Nikon z8 with the 24-70 f4. I feel like these two work very well together as they’re pretty much the “same” camera. Limiting the amount of gear I have works amazing for me, before this I owned only the x100f since I got it in 2017.
I am doing a very similar thing myself but Xpro3 with 27MM and Nikon F3 with 50m. When I want to go really small I switch out one of the cameras for the Olympus Pen F (film) or Ricoh R1
Hey Dylan, I just discovered your channel searching for information on the x100v, which I just purchased in March to take to Italy in 2 weeks for vacation. I've been a Nikon shooter since long ago and far away and still have my original FE, which I haven't used in years. Your video introduced me to the possibilities of using it again. Lastly, have you considered using the 28mm WCL lens for the x100v? I'll stop for now.... and will subscribe. Thanks for the inspiring images.
