There's an irony between you being relieved that you're back on your carbon bike and me busily researching Ti bikes to get away from carbon. Still not sure if I'll make the jump or not... Endurance rides are all about "head down, get it done" sometimes. I did a 100km sportive up here in Yorkshire yesterday in the tail of Storm Katherine - it was grim at times TBH but the feeling of achievement - well you already know how that is! I'm not sure how advanced your travel planning is, but two tools I find indispensable are Ride with GPS for route planning (you'll never go back to Goole Maps which is flaky at best) and The Man In Seat 61 for getting to and from the start by public transport. Hope that helps.
A friend recently bought a Planet X Ti gravel bike and I was astounded at how light it was, so it’s definitely something I’d consider in the future, Rob. As for the travel plans, we’re pretty much using the exact same route that Jimmy and I took a couple of years ago, which o planned on Komoot. I’ve heard good things about Ride with GPS though. Never heard of the man in seat 62 though, but sounds really useful. I’ll give it a look. 👌🏻
@@petertreadway I don't use Komoot myself (I felt tricked in to an unwanted subscription once) but I believe it to be very similar to RwGPS which I really like. By all means check out The Man in Seat 62, but you'll find Seat 61 better😉.
We've been lucky to have sunny weekends like that for the last few so made the most of it. Sadly, this weekend we also had 40+ mph winds so had to cancel group rides. Hopefully getting out tomorrow to make up for it though.
Yes, I do! 🤦. I always seem to find time for other jobs but that one though! I think I'm just dreading having to remove the bar tape and re-apply it! 😂 I promise it'll be done before the Paris ride though... maybe just the night before it, but it'll be done!
Hey Aidan, it starts in Newmarket and goes south to Finchingfield and back up. You can find the full route here: www.ukcyclingevents.co.uk/products/the-suffolk-spring-classic-sportive-2024
The show didn’t finish until 5pm on the last day, so I didn’t fancy getting back home at 3am 😂 so I got the train back to London. I did have to ride the few miles between Euston and Liverpool Street though and I HATE riding in London!
Ooooohhh!! Not a 13kg gravel bike! Nice! Any chance you can pop over and make these f***ing RS505 levers work before I take a stihl saw to them? It's only about 110 miles... :D
@@alistairmacfadyen9365 Ouch! 😬 The wind took mine over while it was propped up the other day too though, so it's easily done at the moment. Luckily no major damage though (or so it seems! 🙈).
@@petertreadway I have the chain set off as I was just about to change the BB… gutted… can’t afford a new frame so going to crack on and do a repair myself… cheers Pete
Great to see the sun for sure. Good luck with the training for Paris.
Cheers Lincoln and yes, long may it continue! ☀️👌🏻
Good to see you all out!. Great vid
Cheers Steven. 👌🏻
Mates having fun in the sun, winner!
Damn straight. 😉👌🏻
Thank you again Mr Treadway
And thanks, as ever, to you Richard.
How are your cross channel adventure plans coming along? Have your family come to terms with it yet? 😉
No luck yet, they think 66 is to old. Its never to old for a new adventure. Perhaps in the autumn.
You should tell them ‘you don’t stop cycling when you get old, you get old when you stop cycling’ 😉

Summer's on the way 👍

Yeh, I’ve been out both days this weekend and my deep section wheels have not been friendly in the wide!
Good luck getting out tomorrow. 👌🏻
@@petertreadway thanks. Also, always good to get a bit of profundity from Jimmy, or is it profanity? 🤔😁
@@alexhadfield657 I’d say it’s profundity from him and then we girl profanities at him when the cameras are off! 😂

Every great ride has a list of caveats, lol. It goes without saying. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Whereabouts in Suffolk will you be riding?

I forgot to ask if you cycled back or got the train from the photography show?
I had considered cycling but didn’t fancy getting gone at 3am! 😂
Had to cycle from Euston to Liverpool Street though. That was… fun! 😬
You saw it too 😂
It's been so long, Reece, I was concerned it was an alien invasion at first! 😂
Long may it continue though!
You rode up to Brum so how did you get back??

No riding for me at the moment, carbon frame is cracked… she’s stripped down awaiting a refurb
Oh damn! Sorry to hear that, Alistair! Where’s the crack? Will it be a difficult repair?
Hope you’re back up and running soon
