Years ago worked on NH cummins engines with water filters, when replacing sleeves the block water jacket would look shinny clean.

I have a coolant filter housing that is a stand alone unit that I patch into one of the heater core hoses. You would be absolutely amazed at just how clean and clear it will make your coolant. There is so much casting sand and other junk in our systems. I've moved it between a few vehicles to clean them but it stays on the 12 valve when not used elsewhere.
The way I see it is it is not going to hurt one bit but if say if removes a cup of junk and sand and that equals 3% of the coolant capacity well then you just increased your coolant ability and capacity.

Got my filter installed. I used the two places that were used on the heat exchanger for the automatic transmission. Will see how this works out. Thanks for the videos

As usual glad you brought this up . I use to change the coolant filters on equipment at work or where I use to work at . Seems like they were normally fleetguard. They had dca or sca in them. We tested the systems with a test kit , that been a while . I installed one of a old dodge 3/4 ton truck I use to have . Seems I plumbed it into to heater lines . I have some filters in my collection of filters and I thought I might install one on my 5.9 . I need to check my wenck truck that's got a dt466 in it. I probably need to install one on it to ..thanks for the info

👍👍..I've never seen a coolant filter installed at the factory on a B series powered piece of equipment....got a quite a few.. it's definitely not gonna hurt.. generally they're on a larger wet sleeve engine...I believe
For the reason of helping to prevent cavitation erosion because the sleeves vibrate more than a parent engine...the additive adds a coating to sleeve surface...but either way, good stuff man ,..as always 👍👍👊

100% your right , but you do see it in the parent bore as well as they are getting older

Great video and I love watching all of your videos. I am planning on running a coolant filter on my 230k mile 3rd gen, what are the part numbers for the treated and non-treated filters you use?

Thanks for making this video! I need to put a coolant filter in my 1st gen. Last year my heater core was clogged up and not putting out any heat to the cab. I flushed it a few times then it was working great. Now here we are today, my heater core is acting like it's clogged up once again. I would rather change a filter than go through the hassle of flushing the heater core again. That steam line you pointed at is that where it flows out? Could I install it in line with the hose that routes to the heater core, or is it best to use the ports you pointed out so it doesn't restrict coolant flow? Cheers! Tyler.

I’m interested to know also, cooling systems in Canada require being maintained much more than in Texas.
I’m not a fan of ELC- extended life coolants. Right now my preferred coolant for Diesel engines is Peak Fleet Charge with SCA precharged but Rob could change my mind so I’ll be watching for that video.

Mopar concentrate and equal distilled water found in the baby formula department of your grocery store. The distilled water in the baby formula section was way cheaper than the distilled found in the beverage section at my store.

What size tires are on the 1st Gen? Grounding the radiator and Zinc anodes also help the coolant system to live.

What are your thoughts on external transmission filters, and if you were going to install one, which line would you install it on?
