Well, about the ergonomics of dislodging the rod from the body; in T2 Schwarzenegger was at the edge of the steel structure and only about an inch away from grabbing the M79 grenade launcher so his arm could twist downwards and pull the rod from below, add to it that he didn't even have another arm. In the case of Sunny Deol, he is not at the edge of the steel structure but even way behind the boundary, so he has no other way to pull the rod out but to pull it from the back.
Yes but it's a movie, the director could have easily made Sunny Deol die near the edge. Usually in movies every thing that happens on screen is carefully considered. But may b u r right.. not sure about this movie.

Andrei Tarkovski's 1962 film "Ivan's Childhood" had a scene in which the lead character runs on water, although that was a dream sequence.

I would point out few correction from ur video which i too saw only when u discussed it
1)For that bullet dodging scene ...i think he is actually deflecting it with his palm.......if u lool closely.....u can see the deflected movement of bullet after his hand movement.......the problem was we were used to matrix dodging scene.......and the deflected bullet was also not clearly visible.
2)for that sunny deol pulling rod out from back is because in TERMINATOR 2 the floor's edge was below his chest height so to pull it from front using his hand was easier.......but in sunny deol's case the floor lenght was higher than his head, for this he had to approach from back.
A small running on water was shown in the movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon" in 2000, only for few seconds tho.
