Guys...This scene is inspired by real battle / incident happened in July 13, 1660. Yes...In the year 1660.
S.S. Rajamouli Director & K.V. Vijayendra prasad writer (Father Of S.S. Rajamouli) of this movie, as well as Bahubali Movie. This Father Son duo themselves told that they are very inspired by Great Maratha King Shivaji & they also Great Baji Prabhu Deshpande's battle of Ghor Pass.
Great Baji Prabhu Deshpande, one of Commander of Maratha Empire, with mere 300 soldiers fought in Ghor pass against Adilshahi's 10,000 army. Great Baji Prabhu Deshpande was around 50-55 years old, he fought with 2 heavy swords.
The fight was started in morning 5am and last till evening 6pm .This shows that Great Baji Prabhu Deshpande has fought with enemy for 12 hours nonstop.
Total 5000 out of 10000 men of enemy were killed.
Commander of enemy was fed up regarding his failure in breaching the pass, so he brought gunman and shot Great Baji Prabhu Deshande.

The movie isn't perfect but very original and engaging (a part set in the past, a part in the present with the characters' reincarnations), it deserves a watch! :-) It was directed by S.S. Rajamouli (Baahubali, Eega). You should definitely react to the song *Dheera Dheera* from this movie, it's beautiful!
Also the main actor Ram Charan was in *Rangasthalam* last year and it 's a great movie so hopefully you can react to trailer! ☺

Yeah.. Magadheera definitely set the ground for the Baahubali Duology. It showed us how great S.S. Rajamouli's period dramas can be. I didn't like the parts set in present, they are just your typical south movie but the scenes set in past, even with a low budget, are a pleasure to watch.

I've probably watched this movie about 50 times. It's so entertaining.
No offence meant to Rick, but referencing Leonidas or 300 or Greek mythology in every fight scene is kind of a bit offensive.
Indic civilization is much older and is culturally n times richer than Greek civilization.
Please do research Indian epics like Ramayana and the longest poem in all history, Jaya commonly known as Mahabharat.
The Indic culture is much more consisting of Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, etc. Wars were never uncommon in the Sub-continent and stories like 300 are available in plenty here courtesy of Rajputs, Marathas, Sikh Warriors, Jats, Mughals, Revolutionaries, etc. So a comparison is hurtful not only to Indians but also to Greeks as it undermines the value of their achievements.
A billion plus Indians are good for business as they bring in large number of views which translates into revenues, but knowing a bit more about the culture will be helpful in not hurting their feelings and ensuring that the source of revenue grows. ✌️
Karan Saboo he’s just referencing the action in the film. Most likely he’s not talking about the civilizations or anything. Obviously this movie (and tons of other movies like this) has action set pieces heavily inspired from 300. But it’s still extremely well executed and filmed and stands on its own. Just that 300 is the one that started it all so it’s referenced a lot.
Don’t include mughals with our great Indian warriors, they are invaders and destroy our culture
Stop overthinking with Indian culture and history to defend here. It’s not about story or rich Indian heritage. It’s the fighting visual of keeping enemies in a narrow ledge and fighting. That’s obviously 300 inspiration. They are not talking about war story, they are talking about the movie elements like the visuals and the scenes. And it’s ok. So what if it’s an inspiration. Still it’s an entertaining movie. We Indians shouldn’t keep expecting others to understand and praise us and take offense if they don’t.
