It's definitely arguable but personally I feel Kamal Hassan is a bit better than Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh is rightfully the angry young man of India while Kamal Hassan has variety and has done different types of roles, some of which were impossible to pull off for an ordinary actors.

Nayagan is a great movie ... i have seen around 5 times, songs are in my playlist. But it is Tamil version of God father. So Hollywood guys might not realize Kamal's potential in Nayagan. There are better movies from Kamal which will give kicks to a international viewer.

It's definitely arguable but personally I feel Kamal Hassan is a bit better than Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh is rightfully the angry young man of India while Kamal Hassan has variety and has done different types of roles, some of which were impossible to pull off for an ordinary actors.

Kamal Hassan is probably the most awarded actor in Indian cinema and many films he acted were sent to Oscars from India. He has been acting from childhood for more than 40 years. If you are interested, he made/directed commercial film(thenali, pamal k sambadam, panchatandiram etc..) and also "author" and socially based films: mahanadi, virumathi, heyram, devar magan,gunaa, nayagan etc... Personnaly i think he is an acting encyclopedy. He Can Do any role. Unfortunetaly, he was not recognized at the level he merits. He is also an excellent dancer and singer, an excellent screenplay / dialogues writer. His private life is often criticized. He is now a politician, a role where he did not yet succeed.
He is equivalent in terms of acting probably to Robert de Niro or Al Pacino. His acting skills are comparable or complementery to the late iconic figure in tamil cinema and why not Indian cinema: Sivaji Ganesan.
