I was at H Mart and saw Vermont Curry, i thought let me give this a try. I was blown away, i truly was. This curry with white rice will be something i eat very often.
Oh It's so good! I always by golden curry blocks at hmart, I like it WAY better than the vermont one, that one tasted a bit sweet to me, I'm more of a savory kinda person!
I have made this kind of curry many, many times, but it never occurred to me to fry each item separately before adding to the pot. Once again, I have learned a new technique by watching your videos. Thank you so very much!
I always fried the beef first then set it aside, caramelized the onions in the pot, then throw the carrots and potatoes in with the onions, fry a little more then add the beef I fried earlier. Turns out great!
I loved it when hiro whispered sweet lovings to his katsu, I find my self doing that while at work to things I cook. I am glad to see it is a universal cooking thing, thank you for another fun video and that this video gave me a bit of a laugh as well.
Some tips: 1. Boil water first. Cover lid. 2. Fry potatoes first then add to boiling water. It takes longest to cook. 3. Do carrots next and even add celery if you like. Not sure if necessary to stir fry. 4. Do onions next in frying pan. 5. Marinate beef with soy sauce and salt and pepper ahead of time. Coat with some flour before searing in frying pan. Flour will lock in beef flavors. Cook with some onions leftover from 4 and add some garlic. Don’t add to boiling pot. Cook a bit longer where inside beef is not raw. 6. Add curry into boiling pot. Mix and stir. 7. Add in beef with just 5-10 minutes left to cook curry. The beef will have much more flavor. Entire cooking and prep time reduced too. 👍
@@lukejposadas when you add the beef and it’s sauce into the curry you’re getting the beef flavor also. If you do it your way the beef you bite into is bland.
I was initially disappointed he used Curry blocks, but then I thought I would give it a try. Honestly the best curry I have had in years. We don't order Katsu any more because we eat it once weekly. Just make a not of the brand of curry blocks he uses, and you can make a cheap tasty meal regularly. Thank you Terada San!
Excellent food and presentation. This is your sushi lover's fan from Mililani, Hawaii enjoying your recipes and sharing it with friends and family... Mahalo and Aloha!
Awesome videos as always. Hey. Pls don't fast forward the cutting scenes. It's so satisfying to see Hiro's (or should I say Hero's) fast cutting skills
Now that's a meal. You are lucky Camera Guy, getting to eat all Hiro's great cooking all the time. I bet wild rice and shiitake mushrooms added to that would be good too. Take care. :-)
Katsu and curry one of the best comfort foods. Easy to make at home, though I do love going to a local curry place here in Las Vegas. Hamburg steak goes well with curry, too, as well as a little cheese to take it to the next level.
I really enjoy watching these DIY at home series (I hope you can make more!). It really helps for people like me who need to make something pretty simple and in big batches that will last a while! Thank you for this awesome video ^_^
Hey guys. Hope you're all doing well. I actually came back to this channel after finding it some time ago. It was strange to see it converted to all things Hiro! It's a great change and all I can say is thank you for continuing to create wonderful content. Now that it's based more on personal content could both you and Hiro have a relaxed video explaining how you guys first met and what antics you have been a part of over the years? Thanks!
i was at the supermarket yesterday wondering which curry paste i should get and just couldnt decide so this video came at perfect timing ill go get some today great video
Another amazing video. Have wanted to try and make curry but never knew what type of curry to buy. now I know and can move away from the already prepared types... Thanks again for educating me and giving me another amazing recipe (2) to try.
Hiro is just so nice. Back then he was super duper polite. In his mind he wanted to say nothing! Absolutely nothing!!!! But he wouldn't dare. So....I agree with you. We will say it for him!!!! There is no gosh darn substitute! Make it right or don't make it at all. Go eat your shake and bake!!!!
@@mississippiqueen2u Some people may feel that the choice of breading for a dish is a trivial matter. Well, they fail to understand the concept of authentic mouthfeel and texture. Personally, I would always use _panko_ for _tonkatsu_ , but western-style breading for _cotoletta alla milanese_ and _Wiener Schnitzel_ .
Hiro needs his own t-shirt line. A picture of him in black and white, holding his famous knife and cross-armed, with text that reads "Good Afternoon" right above his head.

how long did you have to fry the pork for?
Til it gets to flavor town

after a hard days work outside in the cold. can't imagine nothing better to come home to than that meal.

That knife is incredibly sharp, just tapping the pork cuts it. A friend is cooking this recipe for me tonight, cheers Hiro!
***** It was amazing! :)
My mouth was watering at the end of this thing. I love curry and love pork or chicken Katsu. That looks delicious!
That looks like comfort food. Great for cold winter days.
ah, these videos are very fun to watch, the subtle background music is also enjoyable.

No you are totally wrong about the beef, you want the beef cooking with everything else to impart its flavor. Do you know what curry is lol?

I use panko for everything. It’s just crispier
was going to say it but you did, tonkatsu with anything else but panko isn't tonkatsu anymore.
Hiro always does a great job
