Always release the fuel pressure at the shredder valve, no matter how long the car has been sitting without starting, even if it wasn't started for weeks. Don't take a chance. I was working at the junkyard on a car that has been sitting for several weeks, and when disconnected a fuel hose, the fuel sprayed a guy right in his eyes - gasoline is carcinogenic. Really take no chance, cover the valve with a piece of paper or plastic and depress it - Also, if the engine is still warm, the gasoline will be warm so it will keep building vapor pressure - even 2 minutes after releasing the pressure it will be pressurized again. Never work on a hot or warm engine on gas lines. If you have no choice, when disconnecting a fuel line or the rail, keep depressed the shredder valve while disconnecting the fuel line.
Great idea for the testing injector especially with using the fuel rail! I have set up a simple fuel rail before but still not easy to use as the car setup one like this! Like!
Thanks for such great tutorial that really helped taking apart following your steps you demonstrated. Since you ruled out the clogged injectors and fuel pressure not being the issue, did you get to the bottom of the problem? I’ve a BMW X3 e83 2.5i 2004, and been having lean code and misfire on cylinder 6 as well. Sometimes the car starts with a rough idle until it warms up and then stabilise, sometimes can just start idling rough while in traffic or while driving around. On two occasions I poured fuel injector cleaner inside the tank it drove for a while without the problem resurfacing, but now it’s intermittent that’s why I decided to do injector cleaning process.
thanks for the vid. im getting some fuel smell in the cabin of my 2000 320. it goes away after i start driving. when i stop the car, i can smell it in the general area of the injectors. could it be the rubber seals are bad on the injectors? should I replace them or should I replace the injectors also? thanks in advance
I have the same issue. Visible leak on no. 3 injector. Im going to try replacing the top oring tomorrow before i think about a whole new injector and see how it goes.
He was a bit rough on popping off metal clip on top of injectors. Not necessary actually; also he forced electrical clips off injectors with screw driver. Breakage Big time l believe
Very good video please make another one. About fuel pump and a crank sensor. An this car have a fuel pressure sensor by the fuel line filter under the car Whit some electrical switch no body talk about that thanks
Very good video but I still have the fuel problem I replace the pump but the car don’t start by he self, I have to put some spray All time to start my car
At 1:07 what are the wires you disconnected and moved to the side? A reply would be greatly appreciated given I think that’s why my car won’t start, thanks so much
No, no need for that, the ecu will adapt automatically. You could erase the adaption manually though, just to help the ecu a bit. But you don't have to code the injectors into the ecu or anything like that, like on some newer diesel models.
If I did that job in a white shirt, I guarantee it wouldnt be white by time I finish, I have P0306 misfire on No.6, guess what I'm doing now that I watched your presentation.!
Best BMW video on UA-cam for injectors yet thank so much
Good turorial to help diagnose possible "cylinder wash down".
Thank you for taking the time to document!

thank you so much for your video! I found dozens of how-to's that showed me everything except for how to remove that electrical rail 🤯

Very educational and much appreciated.
Great video, testing is a plus!!
your video helped me a lot, thank you man!!
Great great video Dr Chill
Great video thanks for putting this together

Good video, thank you for your work! :)
Hai, I just want to know, you just pry the harness? Not release the clips? It won't break?

Best video outthere, congrats bro!!!
at 2:42 what is that part called? I am missing one.
At 1:07 what are the wires you disconnected and moved to the side? A reply would be greatly appreciated given I think that’s why my car won’t start, thanks so much
Those are the o2 sensor wires :)
What are those red and green wires you used? Where can you get them?
What if it drips from the fuel rail? After you take the injectors off ?
Hello, did you ever find out why the cylinder wasn’t firing?
yes, it was the computer with a fried transistor
Ouch that's scary since my 2.5 is showing P0306 misfire at no.6,
Thanks a lot for this video. Does this same process apply to BMW X5 2004 3.0i? I need to test my injectors
is the same engine
Wow, awesome video!
Thanks❤❤❤
Why do people say you have to remove the injet manifold? 👍
god I love working on this car...it's so easy compared to japanese cars!!
So no need to calibrate them after replacing them with ecu ?
No, no need for that, the ecu will adapt automatically. You could erase the adaption manually though, just to help the ecu a bit.

The problem can be a leaky o ring on the injector.
Great video!!!
Can remove the injector connector just like that? Without remove the clips?
Great video thanks👍🏻
Best one thank yoy
I love. You. Video. Thanks.
great video thanks!
Great step by step *****
Is that an engine a direct fuel injection?
no, port injection
If I did that job in a white shirt, I guarantee it wouldnt be white by time I finish, I have P0306 misfire on No.6, guess what I'm doing now that I watched your presentation.!
same here did it work?
Those are called orings
Great video. Good info to know thanks
