Didn't notice most of these. Great vid man. Also noticed that the statue on top of the fountain you showed in the DLC is very similar to the statue behind the lady who gives you the banner before you fight Vordt. The statue in the DLC is much more vibrant as the one in the base game appears more stone-like
@razz5614 yo i really appreciate that. My time to game or make videos is limited, but I definitely plan to keep making them as I can. The vibes will stay the same
Have you considered doing this for Ariandel as well? Seeing as it has a few points of interest that come straight from Ariamis? Did a quick scroll down of your videos page to see if you already had, but didn't see anything, so I figured it was worth suggesting.
@@kajus That would be cool. The painted world of Ariamis is one of my favorite levels in any souls game. It's always had a very unique feel to me. My free time to make videos is extremely limited at the moment, but I'll keep this idea in mind for sure.
The flipped grand archives architecture blew my mind (tho it doesn't really make sense that we fall through and break a window that's supposed to already be broken in the past, guess the scholars must've repaired that lol). I always understood the dreg heap conceptually but never really took the time to map out which locations lined up to where in the base game, so I really appreciate you going through them like this. Great vid!
Fascinating video and comfy length. It's nice to see a more sensibly-timed DS vids, given there are so many 2-hour essays nowadays. FromSoft may be the king of reused assets. Some are a little more obvious (all of Elden Ring's building textures, movesets, etc.), and others disguised in the subtlest way. I still know people to this day who are shocked to learn Darkroot's forest covenant area is the same place as upper Oolacile's forest. I'd never stopped to think about this, but the moment you paused on the Dreg Heap bonfire room and made me consider where we are, I said to myself "Greirat!", wow. Great eye! Side note: please do ASMR, my god. There's a bit of vocal fry here, so maybe relax a little more and don't force this kind of whisper-talking. But you have great potential for a "radio voice".
@ianwilliams2632 top notch comment. I feel the same about DS videos...seems like they have mostly become unnecessarily long essays and almost never feel worth it. Perhaps I'm just jaded, though. I mean how long can one game franchise really be one's main source of entertainment across multiple forms of media. (6 years and counting for me.) Anyway, I truly appreciate your sharing of that moment of revalation, your kind words, and also the advice.
Nice, randomly stumbled over this on the homepage. I knew most, but never paid attention to the "in-game" references to Dark Souls 3 itself. I always loved how the Dreg Heap is a kind of culmination and surprising plot twist after Emma the High Priestess told you about the realms of the Lords *converging* below the High Wall right at the start of the game. It's not just their realms connecting to each other, they're literally converging at one point.
Wow, this is a fantastic video. Great concept, one that I didn't realize was SO prevalent in FromSoft games but really makes me appreciate the games (and wanna boot em up and play again) even more. Also dig your general tone throughout the video and not being overbearing with it. The only problem with this video is the criminally low view count. I learned so much from this
I wouldn't be surprised with FromSoftware either way. I think the main thing they are trying to convey is that multiple worlds are converging. Pieces of Lothric Castle (The High Wall, Grand Archives) are used to represent DS3. Earthen peak is used for DS2. And Firelink for DS1.
@@TheOldMundane And they're collapsing in order of oldest to newest, with Firelink at the bottom and Lothric Castle at the very top; the new coming in later and piling up over the old.
First video of yours that I've seen, and I've got to say I could listen to you talk about anything. You have a very soothing voice! Also Great video, Hope to see you grow!
The commonality between the Lothric dregs and the Earthen Peak dregs is *Angel worship* Baneful Queen Mytha is a twist on "Medusa defeated by a mirror"; she was demented by her vanity into pursuing immortal beauty and was resultantly cursed with undeath. The Desert Sorceresses however used mirrors as tools to commune with angels (like how the crystal sages use their crystal balls) - the Grave Wardens who guard Mytha are also connected to the "Angels of Death" (Fenito/Milfanito) P.S. Nito is an anagram of Not-I, which is why basilisks drop his covenant items in DS1 (not-eye).
@@TheOldMundane Drangleic is taken from Drang-Reich meaning "Empire of Will", but "angleic" is also a simple anagram of Angelic. If you rest at a bonfire in Drangleic Castle after warping, the "Dr" in the location pop-up actually gets cut off by the bonfire menu (which is what led me to notice the anagram). Note also that "Below Drangleic Castle" is the optimal bonfire for challenging the angelic Darklurker. To be clear, the "not-eye" stuff I mentioned refers to the fake eyes of the basilisks as well as the "not-Self" that Nito symbolises. Also sorry about rambling, I liked your video and wanted to share ideas

@@TheOldMundaneTrue that. My love grew and grew as I noticed more and more of the wordplay and symbolism.
