Three of those four brands are on my top 3 tequila brands of all time. Fortaleza, G4, and Ocho! Let's goooooooooo! Cascahuin is definitely a solid brand too and better than most.
Thanks for this. I have probably watched it a couple times already, but thought I'd respond. I sip Blancos quite often (probably too often!), and have a decent selection. Your four choices are truly standouts, but as you know, there are many more that are additive free and are very good. They may not be of the heritage and quality of these four, but they are excellent sippers. My taste buds seem to prefer El Tesoro, Siete Leguas, and LALO, the latter of which is quite available in north Arkansas, where not much variety can be a problem. Yes, the Fortaleza still strength is one of my favorites, and I was very excited to find 3 bottles last fall in southern Missouri. I also have the Cascahuin Plata 48 and the G4 108 plus a Gran Dovejo 98, and all are very tasty. I am a fan of Ocho and would love to find the Puntas and the Cerro De Luz. Great show, Doug!
Love the content! As a “good” tequila newbie your content is priceless! Still have yet to see any Fortaleza in my area but do see a decent amount of Ocho. Thanks buddy
Great options for a Blanco Tequila that’s good for sipping. I haven’t tried Cascahuin yet but I have heard a lot of good things. Personally the Ocho Puntas is something I stay away from because it’s too high proof for my liking but it’s definitely a good special release. Another new product that’s also very good is Mijenta’s Maestra Blanco. It’s made from a special selection of agave grown from seeds. It comes in at 100 proof and it’s just as good quality as their regular Blanco.
Hey Doug, great show and vids. Love the Fortaleza and G4! have both those lotes. Glad you are a realist about the Puntas and CdL because those things are super scarce. I even when to Cascahuin and asked about it and toured and wasn’t able to try it so.. I gave up. For puntas I’ve called, visited, and follow up emailed every store I know of in Bay Area (no luck yet). I have to believe the people that were able to get in via sip new about it exclusively in advance. Apologies if I sound bitter. I am a little, sometimes feels like if one is not an influencer, you are in the dust.
Hi TK, thanks for watching. Did you get a chance to enter your email with Sip? They had Puntas on their site before they had it in stock with a “email me when it’s available? I think they reached out to all of those people once it went live. They had a 2 bottle max order for it but it still sold out pretty quickly. I’m not sure if they are getting any more but it wouldn’t hurt for you to make sure you’re on their email list for it. Have a great weekend.
@@iamdougprice Hi Doug. That’s helpful. Ive ordered few times in the past and thought I was on the mailing list from that hmm, I’ll look into that now you mention it, I did not see a notice. Ive done the notify me with them before and searched for that after I saw word on the st. was that they had it but didnt see that. I’ll be keeping my eye out! [Thanks a lot for the reply that helps me feel less bitter!]. You enjoy as well, 🥃
Doug - wonderful list. I have the G4 (Lot 12b is amazing), Cascahuin Tahona, and Fortaleza Still Strengh on my shelf. I'm waiting for Sip Tequila to get the Ocho Puntas back in stock. All of these are must haves.
We would be incredible friends brother, im a wine and spirits Sommelier/Mixologist in Las Vegas (Bellagio) i am constantly educating and preventing all of the bartender to stop disrespecting exceptional artesanal expressions
Doug, I wonder how G4 Lot 12B would fare against their latest blanco batch? A tasting of the Madera would be interesting as well. I think it would show the progression to what we have now.
Great video! I have 2 of the 4 you mentioned 😊Fortaleza Still Lote20 and G4 B . Love em both! Visited Fortaleza back in March and what an experience. Can’t wait to go back again 😊
Thanks for watching Abel. Both great options you have. Fortaleza is a special place. I just got back from there last night. Be on the lookout for more content from this trip.
Hi, doug. Not knowing i stumble across your podcast which is excellent. Im a newbie 6months into tequila. But man im learning fast, and already pick up on those 3 of 4. Still missing cerro de luz.😅
I just got done listening to your podcast with Luis Torres, the owner of Tequila General Gorostieta. Very interesting and compelling stuff. Unfortunately, there wasn't enough time to cover how he ended up getting killed. Someone from Mexico City who was on the side of the government learned to speak in the Alteño accent. He had blond hair and blue eyes and that allowed him to penetrate Gorostieta's inner circle. From there he gave the information on where Gorostieta was hiding, in Atotonilco, which was a place called "Hacienda El Valle" and is now called "Nuevo Valle." My grandfather purchased that very hacienda a few years later along with a man named Chato Fonseca, who is a relative of mine on my dad's side and who is the father of Enrique Fonseca. My grandfather and Chato were business partners for a time. They were the two big dogs of Atotonilco and my paternal grandfather, Cruz Fonseca (my namesake) was the one who kept the books for my other grandfather as well as being a Cristero himself. My grandfather Cruz was a captain in the Cristero movement and was a compatriot of not only Enrique Gorostieta but of El Catorce as well. I, too, now have 90k plants in Rancho Santa Rosa, south of Arandas and just north of Atotonilco. The plants have been in the ground for only one year but I hope to turn them into agave nectar after harvest.
all 4 amazing! I would make it a top 10 list and add Primo, Terrlata, el tesoro, Lagrimas plata, Volcan, and siete leguas DECADAS. may be the best blanco ever :)
Love your channel already. Also loving the podcast. I’ve only been collecting tequila for 1 year but have learned a lot. I recently bought G4 blanco that is 14B and it is fantastic, best G4 I’ve had. Anyone else have thoughts on 14B?
Excellent! A Maryland resident since ‘73. Was heartbroken when Irsay took them away. Now a rabid Raven fan. Thanks for the informative review. I’m enjoying the G4 and Fortaleza in a very informal taste test tonight.
I can’t find any of these tequila in nyc liquor stores. I purchase yesterday for the first time a new tequila called JAJA the worst newest tequila on the market what’s your opinion on JAJA tequila.
Hi there. JAJA has been out for a while. I’m not sure if it’s still there but it was coming out of NOM1137 I believe. It’s rated well but I personally wasn’t a fan. Most of those brands from that distillery have a weird musty taste that I don’t enjoy. Thanks for watching
I'm new to the sipping game. I bought a few mini bottles. Casamigos carmel color (meh) Patron Silver (smooth and nice) 375ml of 1800 Blanco (harsh finish and peppery (meh) and Lunazul Blanco (smooth, not as good as Patron. Influenced by that magazine in supermarket Ultimate Guide to Tequila. Geared to the Hipster's.Did my own research so not to go down the Celeb drink hole. I tried the Casamigos w/o knowing it was George C product and Patron as mentioned. I'll go with clear and 100%, no mixto for me.
Fortaleza Still Strength is a Quality Product but the flavor profile is not what my palate craves and for this reason it is a Hard PASS but Contrarely---The OCHO PUNTAS 2021 "101" is the Finest Expression of Tequila that I have EVER tasted---Absolutely AMAZING!
You missed the King and Queen of all Blanco's....Calle Criollo 23 and Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018 - Huerta "Las Antenas" G4 does not belong in top 4 Blanco's nor does the tequila OCHO Plata Puntas.
Absolutely. Walked into a neighborhood store last night and found 12b sitting on the shelf. Cerro is about impossible to find in the market but the other three are out there
Three of those four brands are on my top 3 tequila brands of all time. Fortaleza, G4, and Ocho! Let's goooooooooo! Cascahuin is definitely a solid brand too and better than most.
Cascahuin is still my favorite for sipping. Own all 4 of these too!
Absolutely can’t find any of those in my market. My go to right now is the Tapatío 110. Super delicious!
Thanks for this. I have probably watched it a couple times already, but thought I'd respond.

Same. My state doesn’t get Fortaleza.
Does your state allow ship in spirits? A few online resources. Or you might find a few shops around the state that will ship in state.

I’ve picked up the G4, we don’t get Fortaleza in my state and I haven’t seen the other two but we do get those brands so I’ll keep my eye out.
Now I haven’t drank all of these but am a tad surprised El Tesoro isn’t on the list. First time having their blanco I was amazed.
El Tesoro is my favorite anejo!! All their stuff is amazing!!
Haven’t tried but heard great things

Doug,

CDL will be very hard to find at this point. Welcome to the wonderful world of Tequila. You’re off to a great start.
Is there any place where I can still find Cascahuin Cerro de Luz?
I doubt it sadly. They went fast.

I knew that bottle seemed too perfect.
Love the Baltimore Colts reference

I watched the move, "For Greater Glory" and it gave me more appreciation for what was going on at the time.
Great Vid Doug
all 4 amazing! I would make it a top 10 list and add Primo, Terrlata, el tesoro, Lagrimas plata, Volcan, and siete leguas DECADAS. may be the best blanco ever :)
Tapatio and Arette are excellent and a bargain to boot.
Hell yes!!!!
ok... yea these are definitely my top 4 right now after trying more Cascahuin! 😅
Just got a few Pasote SS. Stunningly amazing. Tastes like chocolate
Just bought 2 ocho blancos and a 7 leguas that I just drank and was great
Where are the best places to buy tequila in the inland emipire California?
Not sure but Old Town is out there and has good options.
Is lot 12b any different from their blanco de medera? Which was supposedly el pandillo’s first time using wood fermentation?
Wild Common must be in this group, trust me!
Wild common is great. The SS is one of the best I’ve had
@@iamdougprice Super silky and complex at the same time!
Leaving out Siete Leguas once again...
Just drank a bottle and it was great
Whats a good place to order bottles?

I haven’t had 14b but you can’t go wrong with Felipe Camarena and G4. Thanks for watching and listening.
You need to get 12b according to the video.
I lucked out and found 2 bottles of Ocho Puntas at my local liquor store in Texas.
What store? I’m still searching in TX
I’m also in Texas and still haven’t been able to find puntas.
didn't know about the lote 12b!
BLANCOS⁉️ Bring them on‼️Great lineup.😋🤤🤩
G4 Madera is a special blanco as well brothaaa
Yes it is. It wasn’t out when I did that video.
Wait! Why do you know about the Colts leaving in the middle of the night in Mayflower moving vans?
Because I grew up in Baltimore. 😂

@@swimbikerunmud GO RAVENS!!! enjoy those two great brands.
Doug is Wild Common worth the $70 price? Is it worthy period. Ty
I think it is but I would rather spend $15 more in buy their still strength. It’s creamy cascahuin goodness.
@@iamdougprice Indeed, it's so smooth and creamy.. just stunning!
