Amitabh Bachchan is the best ever actor I have ever seen. I have watched many movies, actors since last 30 years, many have acted very well but no one can match Amitabh Bachchan. And Kishore Kumar is a legend, gem in the Music world.
Kishore Kumar is known for his comic roles & upbeat songs! He started as an actor & a singer! He left acting to become a full-time singer! This song, however, proves that acting never left him!
Another gem is the song with Rekha from same film: salame ishq meri jaan. Mukaddar means destiny and Sikandar is Alexander. I.e conqueror. Also his classic bike title song. Good translation BTW

Old movie songs are treasure of Bollywood. You may react more kishor kumar, Md rafi, Mukesh, Lata mangeshkar, Asha bhonsle, Mahendra Kapoor. One of my favorite music director is Madan Mohan. His music is very soulful.
You should definitely watch this film. It is the biggest Indian blockbuster ever in a single run. The highest number of footfalls for a film on its release. Even during its golden jubilee week, crowd used to sleep in front of theatres the entire night waiting for the box office to open in the morning. It ran for over 2 years in many cities and towns across India.

He will be disappointed just like I was, having seen original Gadar movie, though I am huge fan of it. It is sad, that its not good to level that I sometimes felt its pocking fun at original movie, intentionally or unintentionally out of their lazy film making effort with deliberate cliques.
The inspiration of this movie comes from the life of a real gangster in the 70's . The greatness is the emoting and conveyance of emotions of all actors concerned especially Amitabh Bachchan. Standing at one spot and stimulating a heart warming response from the audience.

Some backstory.. he was an orphan, and the girls dad let him stay, the girl was kind to him and treated him like a human, the song was the girl's song for her mom, which he remembered when he heard it from outside as he was not allowed inside the birthday party. That girl is the woman in this video and at this time she hates him which is why she was sarcastic when inviting him for singing. and at the end he pretends it was fake emotions as he does not want people to know he still loves her.
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. is probably *the* most emotional movies of all time.. I would highly recommend to watch complete movie and post its reaction. I for one cant wait for it and would watch it.

No ,that also doesn't happen in India as well. Someone is called for felicitation, all of a sudden that guy starts to sing. It's exaggeration of Indian commercial cinema in 60s,70s,80s,90s . From 2000 there was a turning point for Indian commercial cinema .With the release of film Dil Chahta hai Indian cinema started change . Even commercial films started become more realistic .In terms script ,direction, acting over all screenplay everything started become more realistic n gap between Indian commercial films n parallel film(art films)started get narrower .Nowadays u get to see more realistic approach even songs r most of the times played on the background.
I don't know whether you people will like this movie overall, given its typical 70's Bollywood film with clishes associated with it, even if well made from many other angles. This movie is too good as well. And what a monologue, imagine an actor doing a lip sync as if he is singing in real with the same pain. And ultimate composition by LP I guess. And Kishore Da was simply awesome here.
