I’ve seen this many times over the years, so strange and unnecessary. If they want to add color, make the pots different instead. I rarely buy any plants at Home Depot anyways; I live in a city so there’s no outdoor nursery area and so many of the plants look like they’re going to die within days. So sad and wasteful.
I live in central Indiana and it's kinda difficult to but cactus and succulents and the supplies you need compared to the southwest part of the U.S. (unfortunately).
My local Home Depot and Lowes both hot glue fake plastic flowers all over every single cactus they sell. When you take them off it leaves a tear or dent or whatever into the cactus. It's so sad. I have one that is still healing from it. (I normally dont support buying those but my husband brought it home as a surprise little treat for me one day)
I find that at Walmart too I saw HUGE ric rac last yr on clearance I went back the next day too get it was gone, everything! I asked manager he said the three it all way! Why? Give it away
Again, I have no experience on when it comes to growing plants and it like that I’m just a beginner or just starting and I think this is so cute lol 😅😬
First, I'm happy you are getting into plants! Thank you for asking, and I hope your sunny spots are soon filled with plants you love! These cacti are painted with a 'harmless' paint but it's not really harmless. It hinders plant growth and honestly isn't attractive to people who have kept plants for a while and appreciate them more in their natural state. You'll see ☺ A coating of paint over plants blocks light needed for photosynthesis. Succulents and cacti (these in the video are probably 4-5 years old) breath through pores called stomata, and they also need to intake Co2 from the air to photosynthesis. Paint makes this very difficult to impossible.

It's like injecting gold fish or other animals with neon colors. Cacti are beautiful enough without altering their natural appearance!!!!!

I saw those - Lowe's had them too 🙄🤦♀️
So I’ve never grew plants. I got them because I thought they were cute myself. Why is it such a big deal? I still like it.😅
This should NOT be done. Every time I see this I have the same reaction
Tragic, home Depot and Lowe's could care less if their plants die!

What the heck?! Why is that even an idea much less one that approved for retail?!

💔 😢 I emailed Home Depot and the company on the plastic pot.
This should be illegal 🤬😡

What destructive chemicals are used to create these hideous fake colors. If you know or can even say???
