Imposter/Abyss sibling is probably a ploy to have our Traveller stay in this world long enough to have their fate tied to Teyvat. 🤔

Possibly. And maybe that's what Dain meant in the story trailer when he says, "Prove you're more worthy than I to save her." Maybe Celestia or someone is holding the real Lumine hostage as a backup of sorts for the clone, kind of like the Zygons in Doctor Who.
Its possible since Nahida mentioned something about Traveler's sibling having a record in teyvat!
@@Bella-tf9jl That would also explain why their information starts in Khaenri'ah and not earlier. There would've been earlier information about them in Irminsul. The only reason I could fathom as to why it wasn't until then that their information was recorded into Irminsul is that the twins might be so old that when they left Teyvat, if Teyvat is their home world, before Irminsul was even brought into existence.
@@Bella-tf9jl Nahida also mentioned that the heavenly principles (HP), the first descender, doesn't have any info in Irminsl. It's reasonable to assume that if staying in the world a long time will bind you to it then this should have happened to HP who has definitely been in Tayvat since the Archon war, possibly before it too seeing as how breaking a gnosis may anger HP.
After I learned that the abyss sibling is part of Teyvat, my main theory is that when we get to select a twin at the start of the game, we don't affect the fate of either sibling, rather we just decide who of the two we want to follow. And by that I mean, they are literally experiencing the same fate, each in their very own copy of Teyvat. And the Abyss sibling is just a puppet, the same kind that replaced Dunyarzad or Azar in the Sabzeruz festival samsara.
That makes a lot of sense, especially since Rukkhadevata says Kusanali is the her of this samsara.
I think they're repeating a cycle and each time it alternates who is the traveler and abyss twin. The Asmodey is sending them back to break the cycle or continue it, I think somewhere along the line, the Twin is being bound to Teyvat by something and that's why they refuse to leave, they want to fix it and end the cycle.

@@soushawyall1574 Akasha was powered by Dendro Gnosis which in turn is creation of Heavenly Principles. Since Heavenly Principles are behind separation of the siblings they do have the powers needed for that.
What if they actually were our sibling but the unknown god did something to mess with our siblings fate?
It makes Dain's voiceline make so much more sense

Her consciousness is kinda- "trapped" within Teyvats, and traveller, the weaver of fate is the one who will free her

I highly agree with this. The traveler even stated in their mind when confronted with their sibling's ties to Teyvat made no sense, the fact that they have memories of traveling together before arriving to Teyvat proves that their sibling is in fact blood related to them. We all know that Aether represents the light of day persay, and Lumine represents the light of the moon, the night specifically. If we are tying real facts to their identities, in the very beginning of time and space, there is a fact that all humans are aware of, light cannot exist without the dark, to put it in Genshin terms, Aether couldn't truly be the only one of his kind, there has to be a true successor, aka Lumine. I watched a video once on a theory based off how the whole story started, which brings me to explain why I believe that Teyvat would not consider Lumine a descender, and why Irminsul has data on her and not Aether. It's simple, Lumine was in Teyvat for way longer than Aether, giving Teyvat time to gather data on her, now we don't know what "data" they have on her, Nahida never explains that, what's even more strange is that even Nahida says that the only explanation is that Lumine is from Teyvat. The fact the twins aren't from Teyvat, even the gods or as we know them as archons, they wouldn't know much of their whereabouts or history. The amount of people who have stated that the Aether is clearly not from Teyvat proves this. Now I find it hard to believe that the Abyss could have created Lumine, they didn't even know about Aether, though we don't know if they can see "everything" that's going on in the world, but even so, the timing wouldn't make sense. Lumine existed before the cataclysm even started, Lumine clearly didn't know what was going on until it was too late, her main goal was to find her brother, wake him up, and escape together, away from Teyvat. It's well known that the siblings have always been travelers of worlds, many in fact, and Aether states this, how could memories like that be faked? I believe that Lumine is only so attached to the thought of returning Khaner'iah to it's former glory, is because during her time exploring Teyvat, she grew close to the world, mainly that nation, she cared for the people there, much like Aether does for every person he meets as he explores Teyvat to find her. Lumine's entire world view was shattered when she realized how broken the laws of the world were, Celestia could be seen as a betrayer to it's world in Lumine's eyes, hence why she grew hatred for Celestia and it's gods. Her hatred blinded her, and that's why she is so stuck on this goal of restoring the nation she once considered "home". If she wasn't Aether's sibling, Aether wouldn't have those memories of their travels together, Lumine wouldn't have tried to wake up Aether to save them both from the chaos of Teyvat, she wouldnt have even been in the beginning of the game, she wouldn't have even acknowledged him when they first reunited when Aether found out she was in the Abyss Order.
I know this was a long explanation, I just wanted to get it all out there lol.
I think the Lunime that is about to leave with Aether is not his Lumine but rather an imposter which is why the Heavenly Principle stop them. For the crime that she has cause is too great to leaves things be which is why she said this "The arrogation of mankind's ends now" preventing the imposter from leaving. This could also explain why she hasn't done anything to us when we are exploring Teyvet 500 years later. I also think that the time they were trying to leave Teyvet is also around the time when Khaenri'ah is being destroyed.

The last part about the war taking place is correct. The heavenly principle is missing currently and i suspect since khanriah was at war with the gods and the twin befriended khanriah'n people while exploring they do not want you leaving and potentially bringing back anyone to help them in the war being cosmic entity themselves they are aware of the risk that brings

What if as a punishment they made the twin get corrupted with abyss powers, maybe got bad influence in their mind too and now to save them you have to win in a mortal fight, sad ending
What if rhinedottor is lumine and khanreiah is her creation , an attempt to replicate her homeland in khanreiah , Dainsleif could be very well her attempt to make people from her homeland Dainsleif just looks too much like aether anyway . She is angry because her creation was destroyed . Sustainer may just binded her to the world by tweaking the settings of irminsul and taking all of her powers away (aether's powers were also taken btw) or she voluntarily chose to be part of this world for revenge . Residents of Khanreiah were turned into abyss because because maybe there were attempts to genetically alter them to the people of lumine's homewold . That's how we can differentiate between lower level monsters to higher level ones as the more genetic intervention the higher order of abyss and more stronger abyss . Those who had her dna at Max level was able to ward of the curse to certain level so that they could retain their form and intellect . She probably was late to save Khanreiah because she went to monstadt to save the dragon when she arrived it was all but done .
Nahida stated that when Lumine was about to finish her journey, someone obscured her. That could have been the reason why Lumine is suddenly a local of Teyvat.
No she was already a local in tevyat. She first appeared in khaenriah which was recorded by irminsuel until to the point someone obscured her fate as she almost complete her journey
But Lumine could also be the main character, so maybe just say "Abyss Sibling" instead 😅
We know that Ei remembers the Sakura Tree never existing as she was in Kh'anreiha at the time. We also know that she placed the seed of the tree into the world time line.
It's possible that during the events of the cataclysm that caused Kh'anreiha to get wrecked, the Irmunsal re wrote time to include the Sakura tree and prevent the world from decending into total chaos as in Inazuma there were rift hound etc during the cataclysm then after they dissappeared once the Sakura tree was implanted and the Irmunsal changed the world memory.
During this time The abyss twin was in Kh'anreiha fighting/travelling and then the world change happened somehow affecting the abyss twin so then they somehow ended up being weaved into the fabric of Teyvat and seen as native.
Where as the second twin was asleep maybe drifting into the current time line. Where the abyss twin is seen as a native by the memory of the Irmunsal, a portion of the previous time line was removed just like Rukkehdevata was.
That makes much more sense than the clone theory very big brain

@@Ituasmi nah the sakura tree planting in the past was done by Ei through the powers of Makoto. It might have had the consequence of everyone remembering that the sakura tree always existed (similar to how everyone forgot the existence of rukkhadevata) but this wasnt done by irminsul (irminsul doesnt have a separate consciousness anyway, the god of wisdom is the irminsul's consciousness which at the time was rukkhadevata who created kusanali at that time). The world change was brought about by ei and makoto.
Now that that's out of the way, the idea that lumine being in tevyat (khaenriah) during such a world memory change caused her to be 'registered' as a native is wrong as well. Why? Because we see another world change. The one in the latest archon quest. This one was brought about through the powers of kusanali and everyone forgot about rukkhadevata while aether was standing right beside kusanali i.e aether was in tevyat during this world change but he still isnt registered in irminsul.
@@Martyn_Wolf Sorry to steal your thunder lol. Again, you missed the most important clone. The one that was actually created by khaenriah i.e. susbedo (albedo's clone). Nahida is less of a clone and more of another representative personality of irminsul. Nahida and rukkhadevata are both originals as in both are representative personalities of irminsul. Scaramouche and shogun puppet are both puppets made by ei and given distinct personalities, memories and not clones. I guess shogun puppet could be called a clone as ei made sure she looked exactly like her. I understand albedo himself is an artificial life form. I just mean that susbedo is another artficial life form that looks just like albedo and was made using khemia.
I still think the sibling nahida found in irminsul is a clone made by khaenriah.

yeah this is also my theory, the story reminds me of anime tsubasa chronicles where syaoran travelled to different worlds to find sakura memories and there was an arc where he finally found sakura but it was her clone created by his enemies, and that the original one was sealed. So i think that the original lumine is still a sleep and the abyss or the heavenly principles created a clone witch have the memories of lumine to travel the seven nations of teyvat. That's why the irmansul have record of her and the fatui not classified her as one of the descender because she was created in this world.

Me just a honkai player sharing thougths.. Mihoyo loves to place Easter eggs reffering to other shows.
Genshin came out after honkai, the anchor is honkai right now I think. We have something like a world tree, different branches with its leaves beeing different bubble universes. And way more, like sometimes they are unstable or the sea of quanta beeing the counterpart from the tree where the "universes" are like illusions / a lie and you get lost when entering it.
Mihoyo actually does hard plottwists often, now even "sumeru" showed up in honkai, but it's another kind of realm which can be accessed by (I'm not 100% up to date) only very few people or just 1, Durandal. There is also a big tree shown..
It's all confusing right now but in events people from the genshin universe which is known as the game genshin impact (I honestly think there are probably other genshin worlds) came to honkai main universe, so it is somehow connected. And honkai is crazy with it's multiverses and different timelines sometimes affecting each other. Some characters in genshin & honkai are "the same", like in honkai itself there are some characters beeing like the "original" ones there but different.
So I wait for the day to see, if honkai and genshin someday will somehow connect (even further since they allready did).
I like the storytelling from both games, an open world like genshin just has it differences, is more loose & easy going at least for some time. If someone truly loves the storys, I would recommend that person to try honkai. Just from my experience there, when everything get's connected, it will be totally crazy, no matter if the games get truly connected or just the loose ends from various quests within genshin.
Final word, EVERYTHING is possible.
What if the real abyss sibling is dead, and the current one is a homunculus just like albedo. So saying she's not the twin is valid.
I'd like to think that MC is a descender from a parallel universe and the sibling is the version of MC in the Genshin universe that's why they are "twins".
This sounds plausible and a good twist if Mihoyo decided to have this route in the future.
I like this theory, like either one is really from teyvat prince/princess of the abyss that met his/her parallel version of himself/herself which the traveler that we pick them they both decide to leave teyvat but then the sustainer stopped them and pulled the abyss sibling back to teyvat and the traveler is the only one who can destroy the abyss sibling because their existence is what causes the cataclysm and one is needed to be destroyed as one traveler can only exist in teyvat or in any other world to maintain the balance of all worlds
So in Genshin Impact, there's a Multiverse?
Lumine protected his brother from the corruption of Teyvat. Lumine absorbed the forbiden knowledge that's why somehow she belonged to Teyvat while Ather is still in slumber and when he wokes up, he's still a descender.
The truth of the world is only forbidden knowledge for those that are originally from Teyvat. The traveler was the only one to retain memories that everyone else forgot when some of the data was erased from the hard drive (Irminsul). The laws of Teyvat don't apply to the traveler so it's likely that the forbidden knowledge could be learned by him/her. At the beginning of the game he/she easily acquired elemental powers and Paimon pointed out the reason the traveler was able to attain such powers with ease was due to him/her not being originally from Teyvat suggesting that the laws don't apply to him/her. Anyone else would of had a significantly harder time getting powers. So to clarify, the truth of the world is only forbidden for the original inhabitants of Teyvat including the 7 gods.
dumb thought, but what if the body (lumine) is indeed our sibling.. but the soul held within is someone else, meaning when we tried to escape and were faced by the sustainer of heavenly principles it was not us she had a problem with, but the freeloader within trying to escape their fate?
The only thing that makes one puzzle is that, Nahida mentioned there are 4 Descender~ 1st one is Primordial One, 2nd is The Second Coming, Seelie's Lover, (From Enkanomiya), there was a 3rd but no information and 4th is the Traveler of your choice....what if 3rd Descender is Abyss Twin but their existence/fate had been wipe out/replace by unknown source? Also ever since Scaramouche first appeared and then The Doctor, both kept saying the Star and Sky are fake. What if Teyvat is a Mirror Side of Abyss? So far we know Teyvat had Irminsul but what if Abyss had the original tree hidden? After all it is a part of Honkai Universe.
Ok this makes me remember a theory I had when the whole imposter albedo event came up, where Albedo and the other homunculi were actually potential prototypes to create something like the traveler's sibling. When you talked about Khaenri'ah being ambitious enough to copy a being that isn't a God but can manipulate all elements, I remembered that that was my exact reasoning for my theory. The idea that they may have succeeded with the abyss prince/princess...I like it.
Well Ur theory makes a lot of sense. But its only be true if there is no problem with the "laws" of teyvat. But there are many things that terribly wrong with it. Like "the sky is fake" - then what is beside the fake sky? There are many questions like that. If u remember the "kidnapping" thing by sustainer of heavenly principles in the very first scene, I personally think that our siblings fate is sealed in teyvat by the unknown god , that's why it seems that she belonged to this world. She actually didn't belong from teyvat. That's why irmnsul has a limited memory about her and it suddenly ends when she is concluding her journey. And I think when lumine is concluding her journey, she connects with abyss and by their magic she partially got rid of the sealed fate, but not totally. And why she didn't re-unite with aether, because she knows pretty well that her fate is still sealed in teyvat. So, she tries to battle against celestia to be free her fate. So, she is also waiting to finish aether's journey so, he can find the truth about this world .

And U can see one thing though it is Fatui or Abyss ,one logic is common - "More knowledge about the true teyvat and celestia = against celestia and teyvat." Also archons are kind of giving up their gnosis to tsarita supporting her indirectly.
Also, there is something about traveler's journey - "we always go to a nation when there is some crisis there". Is it just co-incidence? We have completed four nations. Also, summeru is beside liye right? But though then Inazuma was a locked country, but we decided to go Inazuma after liyue but not summeru? Why?
@@shouvikbasak7882 Because previous archon tell you to which nation you should go next, but yeah its so weird that you always get in the perfect time to help the crisis and reach the weekly bosses, and that not matter what you do they always get the gnosis as it is fate, but you can help the nation and archon to get better, maybe for future war

They always throw in some red-herring bits but they're not full red-herrings (such as Kaeya being "royalty" turns out he's not royal blood but his clan ruled the country just like royalty does). It'd make sense if her fate was sealed literally, or if the world created a copy of Lumine while the other remains asleep like Aether was (or whichever traveler one chooses).
Wouldn't it be Ironic as hell if we found out Paimon was actually the Twin and she was somehow "Shrunk," with her memories messed up.

My theory is that we had already gone across teyvat and reached celestia. But then the sustainer of heavenly principles turned back time and then made the traveler forget everything. Which made the traveler go through all the regions again. I also think that the archons like venti and zhongli actually do know the traveler. I also believe that the sustainer of heavenly principles may have turned back time, but made some archons forget the traveler.
I buy this... Venti's voiceline kinda supports this. It's always been weird how some voicelines imply that this isn't our first time through Teyvat.
But do note that when the Aranaras talk about Nara varuna, its implied that the siblings were not together. Traveler was not with him/her.

What if instead lumine being a clone… she forgot she was a traveller altogether and just remembers that she had a brother? What if she thought Khaenriah was her home all along? Thatd be so sad…

But if it’s not the real twin, how does the traveler at the we will be reunited quest, felt his/her twin’s presence at stormterror’s lair? Supposedly, the twins have a special connection to each other. Further emphasised on the chasm’s interlude chapter, where the traveler saw his/her twin but does not feel the abyss twin presence at all.
What if she got corrupted by the abyss too and the only way to save the world completely its finishing her, would be so sad, imagine if she did the bad things only to give Aether more reasons to do it

Let me cut this theory short - Lumine first woke up to Khanre'ah being destroyed and left to go on a journey to seek answers to who might have done it and someone or something gave her the Idea that her true enemy is the heavenly principles to which she found her goal to take revenge and form the abyss order to fight against celestia after 500 years Lumine fully became the abyss princess while Aether was sleeping through all of this events with a goal to find his sister but he is still on a weak ass state to even help her defeat the heavenly principle and doesn't want to have another mistake when facing the heavenly sustainer again.

Teyvat is cyclical, and time can flow in any direction in any speed. Lumine is our sibling. She is recorded, because she has been here all along, and yet, she arrived with Aether.
I know it may sounds strange, but just after Sumeru's archon quest ended, i thought the same way as you, because for me its sounds strange that our sibling woke up first but he/she only started their joirney just after Khaenri'ah was destroyed, i thought smt like: what he/she been doing this whole time?
As for me it sounds better that our sibling wakes up and start their journey in Teyvat before the distruction, but that's what i think, other People may think about the situation differently(and sorry for all of my mistakes in this commenr, I'm only learning English so... :)
Imagine if when they are alone at the end, Aether/Lumine villain arc begins.
One problem. Nahida can be lying. Literally. All archons have contracts to Celestia. Plus Think about Time Loop theory. Both Lumine in Aether are Canon simply because they are stuck in a time-loop. Whatever happens exactly is unknown but essentionally "I have already travelled your journey" (or whatever the line was, something like that). Basically, Lumine ends up as Abyss Twin only for Aether to end up as Abyss Twin after something happens: for example, death of his twin. And et.cetera. Perhaps, main quest will be to break out of the loop

Nahida is A Newly born god after cataclysm, and she was found and Sealed in Sumeru.. so I don't think she's bound to heavenly principals
she's not lying but since she obtained her information from irminsul where someone could just be deleted in history means the information from irminsul cannot be 100% trusted
Well, the thing is, Nahida has been locked up all her life. Even in the new timeline with Rukkhadevata erased, her memories only go so far as 500 years, when she was locked up.
Out of all the Archons, she's the least likely to lie about this because she's also the least likely to have talked to Celestia. She's connected to Irmnsul, sure; but it's more like something she can access than a direct brain connection, so it's very much possible that either she, specifically, doesn't have a contract with Celestia, doesn't know/isn't aware she has one, or is vaguely aware and doesn't know the full extent of it and it's implications. (I mean, if you look at her track record, it makes sense, she's been casually dropping lore bombs every other quest, that one was just the fatality of lore bombs)
Though, her spilling the tea might as well be part of the plan of Celestia or whoever is the powerful entity obscuring the Irmnsul records. Nothing guarantees the info wasn't planted (I mean, it's clear the records can be altered), and that something bigger than Nahida can make changes to Irmnsul in ways she herself is incapable of, despite being the avatar of Irmnsul.
I don't think she's lying, but I guess her being fed deceitful info is possible though...

the i have 3 crazy theori:
1. lumine is the one who teach the people of kaenriah the alchemy she bring that knowledge to teyvat.
2. lumine make a clone of herself inserting the part of her memories to it to deceive the heavenly principle. ( mihoyo is no stranger with the clone theme, the MC in their previous game is a Clone after all)
3. lumine is the one who broke the taboo angering the heavenly principle, this the reason why heavenly principle try to stop her from leaving teyvat.
I have the same theory. That our traveller is a clone or maybe with even better abilities than the abyssal twin. I think its also part of the abyssal twin's plan that the traveler walk the lands of teyvat after him/her.

We are at the point where everything seems to be mind blowing! Nothing seems logical or illogical to me atleast that’s why I have stopped pondering about this things.. it’s better to uncover and be awed with surprise later!
Sounds like a good theory. Khaenri’ah is part of Teyvat but the Abyss is not.

I loved this! I have never considered this possibility. But it also opens up so many new ideas... What's to say that both twins aren't synthetic? Perhaps one twin (the MC) was more of a success than the other, being more alike to an otherworldly nature, hence why Irminsul remembers our twin but not us? In Albedo's story quest he mentions "You and I are both alike". He could have meant that another way.... But now I wonder!
I wonder how Irminsul works. What constitutes "from this world" or not?
Both the twins being synthetic could also explain how they can control all elements and purify abyssal powers( maybe this is why they were made since khanriah dealt with corruption a lot)

Random thought. The Inteyvat flower has five petals, one of them being light blue. What if the white ones represent the four Descenders who arrived "in Teyvat" and the blue one represents the Abyss Sibling, who isn't counted as a Descender for some reason.
Furthermore, what if all Descenders are from the same world Aether and Lumine are from? And the first Descender was the one to found Khaenri'ah, modelling it after their own world, hence the Abyss Sibling referring to it as her "homeland". Which would also explain why they had no Archon, since the concept would be foreign to the Descenders.

if you look into the battle pass gnostic hymn, you will see the genesis pearl with the black serpent, prolly ouroboros, guarding it. the genesis pearl translates to "origin of truth". dainsleif is captain of the black serpents knight, the captain of the royal guards, twilight sword, to be precise. he is also the bough keeper, the bough associated with the irminsul (tree of leylines), the tree that records things from teyvat. why did abyss sibling lumine, chose to travel with dain.. maybe because dain was to babysit khaenriah's new summon.
My theory is that the original twin we saw at the beginning died when Asmodays (unknown god)absorbed them and then the unknown god made a copy of the twin in teyvat

What if Aether and Lumine crash-landed in Teyvat, Lumine wakes up and starts exploring, maybe she ends up cloned through Rhinedottir's Khemia science (now she can be recorded in Irminsul because she was created in Teyvat) and the original is killed, then her remains now become the Third Descender's remains that make up the Gnoses that we just learned about in the 4.2 Archon Quest, and the clone Lumine is the one who wakes up Aether and is stopped by the Sustainer of Heavenly Principles. Because the 7 seats of power held by the 7 Archons are not the same as the Gnoses which they could have received anywhere between the end of the Archon War and the Cataclysm 500 years ago as we don't know how long between the twins arrival and Aether waking up passed.
I think it’s unlikely because she’s straight up call aether brother in the we will be reunited quest and two she’s the bad guy, but what if this is not her real form her real form is the The Alpha Abyss is an organic lifeform like the other abyss but is enclosed in a exosuit which has a drilling weapon. It is possible that the Alpha Abyss is a Stage 3 warrior that the abyss order only deploy on the final phase of an invasion considering its power, rank and importance. Also the sinner that we saw in chapter 3 act 6 is probably a hive mind that controls all the abyss monsters like abyss mages, heralds and lectors as for the stage 3 thing it is to deploy more abyss orders units, new types of them, including grunts, stalkers, devastator pingers and dropships and it’s ground unit is known as the abyss mastermind, which possibly has the consciousness of clothtar alberich. In summary, the abyss sibling is a threat to teyvat and world ending threat because the Fatui are fked because they need the nurses to open a portal to see heavenly principles but but what they ended up doing is the attract attention to the abyss order and invaded snezhnaya meaning the Fatui and harbingers are screwed over
I can tell you exactly why she didn't tell him what she knows: because it might not be something he can believe. I know this because the man in my life asked me this a while ago. We've known each other for years and have had feelings for each other for a while but I didn't know what I was feeling at the time while he did. He asked me that if he had told me what I was feeling back then, would I have believed him? This is sort of the same question here. If Lumine told Aether what she knew, would he believe her? Would he join her side and is that side even the right side for him to be on?
What you mentioned about this not being the Lumine though is fascinating and brings up a theory I've been wanting to write a post about on HoyoLab. That theory is based on two ties to Greek myths. One is one that I heard in a UA-cam video lately about the Greek goddess Nyx, the goddess of the night. It says that with her husband, her first two children were the personifications of daytime and light. These were twins, a boy and a girl, one of them named Aether. That's the first tie I find interesting and the other has to do with the twins' ties to fate. In Greek mythology, fate is divided between three sisters known as . . . the fates. (They each represent the past, present and future respectively.) However, Aether and Lumine are twins, not triplets. Well, they actually would be if this other Lumine is a clone of the real Lumine, then you have three beings residing over fate.
As for which one is the past, present, and future, I turned to Charles Dickinson for that one. In his story "A Christmas Carol," he has three different ghosts that represent Christmases past, present and future. When thinking about it, the past is restricted to anything before Christmas Day. One who represents the past has nothing to look forward to or work towards in the future and nothing in the present either. All they can do is live in and dwell on . . . well, the past. With that characterization, that would go to the OG Lumine as if my guess is correct, she's the one Dain wants us to save. The present, while more restrictive than the past, is able to enjoy and live in the moment. Unlike either of the Lumines, that's what Aether does. He makes friends, goes on wacky adventures, helps everyone he meets, and doesn't speed-run the entire continent just to find answers. He savors every moment because he knows that every detail will help him towards his goal in some way. He learns from the past and works towards his future. Now we get to the future, which is the main reason why I pulled Charles Dickinson off the shelf for this explanation. In his narration, Charles characterizes the ghost of Christmas future as a dark creature in robes and resembles a lot of the Grimm Reaper. You don't know what's going to happen in the future because the future is only moving forward. This is who I believe the Abyss sibling is. However, even I have debated this possibility because if the Abyss sibling really represented the future, she wouldn't be looking back and trying to bring back Khaenri'ah as she has been.
With that, I'd like to suggest an alternative lineup: The past is the Abyss sibling due to their wanting to bring it back, the OG Lumine is the present as she's currently trapped in a single moment, and the Traveler is the future as he learns from the past and keeps moving forward. Of course, I'd also like to suggest that OG Lumine could also be the future. Freeing her could bring about a new age for Teyvat and a dismantling of the Heavenly Principles.
There is so much more I have to this theory, but this is all that's really relevant.
If the honkai/multiverse/bubbleverse theory is true, maybe the sibling is ourself, the version from Teyvat.

Its interesting because Lumine says she has "Traveled this world before" and once we reach the end of our journey we will learn the truth as well. I think it might ACTUALLY be Aether's sister but that a record of her and her "belonging" to this world do exist now because she's already been through it in a sense. She has touched this world, completed her journey. Maybe there is some time travel involved here but it could actually be that she is our mirror image. She went through the game just as we did, maybe even in a parrallel universe or the future and is now here to rectify that mistake. Lotta speculation ofc because that's just the point we are at
Personal idea here:
When a theme is prevalent in a story, chances are we will see all shapes and forms it will be affected or put into play through several points in said story.
That said, two things are constantely rotating and seemingly escalating with time.
1) The creation of "Puppet Gods" with Abyss/forbidden knowledge (First was with the Attempt with Boreal/Osial with the first Field Tiller, then it was Scara with his mecha)
2) The Abyss's effects on the mind of all beings
Is it possible that the Abyss twin is simply being "overriden" by someone who did rule over Khaenri'ah in the past? Hence the strange connection to Teyvat and memories of the Traveler? Like a conflict of information?
I assume lumine can’t tell Aether what that “truth” was bc of the same reason nahida couldn’t tell us the truth of the sabzerus samsara, we simply wouldn’t comprehend it. We’d have to experience and come to the truth on our own. Maybe that’s why greater lord rukkhadevata wasn’t able to understand the forbidden knowledge?
I think some of the most important things (and examples) to examine at the moment out of the new lore are
1. the fact that Irminsul (sp?) didn't just erase the previous Sumeru archon: it ALSO completely changed history AND the memories of those not the Traveller, replacing her in their minds and memories with Nahida, and.. here's the REALLY important part! This probably is NOT the first time it's happened either, as we know that the Sumeru Archon has according to history and memory in Teyvat (which has been tampered with in front of us once already as an example) Rukkedevata (sp) underwent a very similar and strange change after dealing with the desert corruption 200ish years prior, that would be very easily explain that too. As in, the previous archon, still might NOT have been the first aged down.
That said, 2. It's possible that, in fact; there have been at least three Sumeru Archons since the days of King Deshret's kingdom's corruption. The thing about that odd mechanic and ability of Irminsul, is that there is no saying or proving that it hasn't happened before.. or that the Abyssal Corruption and maybe destruction of Khaenri'ah might have resulted in a similar effect with other characters for other if not similar reasons, like say, the twin sibling.
Which brings us to 3. The Aranara quests heavily hinting if not telling us outright that the other golden Nara, 'Nara Varuka' is the twin sibling, and that during that time she was travelling the Teyvat as well and did pass through Sumeru & interact with the Aranara .. and likely with the previous (second??) incarnation of the Sumeru Archon. This is important because it gives us a general idea and direct example of what might have happened, and not only why the perspectives and story between Dainslief & the sibling as to time frame don't always match up.. as well as a possibility as to why the twin might be considered part of Teyvat NOW.. but wasn't before Irminsul probably edited history then .. as the previous version of the Archon made it clear that the memory of not just the corruption but also those corrupted were enough to keep that corruption around (very much like seen with the sacred sakura, too): this was why her broken message WAS 'World.. forget me."
It's my thought that, with the twin still alive, that deletion and rewriting of the corrupted time and memories was and would remain incomplete so long as she was still around to basically jog others' memories: like Dainslief. After all.. we don't hear about the twin's journey or any of the Archons like Venti or Morax/Zhong Li ( omg especially him, and I hope we go back and ask him I really do at some point) who were still alive during her journey back; or even during the destruction to have noted her: as we already know that she sought them out too. Even with erosion as an excuse...? It seems VERY strange without taking Irminsul's affects into account, that *absolutely none* of the six (including Makoto and Ruk) we've met; remark on either the MC's likeness to this other person from an unforgettable and horrific age in their history, or the odd match up of this SECOND person who wields elements without a vision trotting from lower god to lower god.. don't you think?
This might also explain with how and with what the Akasha adds to that information, why the Abyss were looking for rare printed books of folk tales and children stories and claiming they held secret and forgotten truths... it definitely WOULD explain WHY and HOW they were otherwise forgotten AS truths, rather than pure fiction.
This may also have something to do with why the sibling is considered part of the world too, having been awake herself during that attempted correction and having to be logged into the system via the varied experiences it was trying to correct out of history and memory.
Basically..? Before she woke and wove herself into history, she would have been cataloged as a descender; but AFTER, the system in it's attempt to delete her would have had to recognize her in some way: and maybe changed her status due to that and her connection with Khaenri'ah and, the Abyss...
Another thing that supports this IS Deshret and the fate of it's people back then: for the most part which shares a LOT of similarities with how the Khaenri'ahn curse is described through the storyline. It may be that, being almost 1500 years older an event; looking at what is going on with the Deshret quest lore might also be looking at the Khaenri'ahn afflicted's future. Which is scary; but looking more probable by the day..
Those are some of my thoughts and observations anyway..
What about the latest world quest (where we fix the hole in the sky in the desert ) ?
Those flying flowery aranaras say that during Cataclysm and abyssal creatures' breakthrough the 2 people were observed there helping to fight off the abyssal incursion alongside the Kharnrian knights, desert dwellers and former Hydro-Archon. Those 2 looked similar to Lumine and Dain by description. It means that they started travelling on or even before the Cataclysm.
When Nahida tells us about our sibling, she tells us that they are recorded in the Irminsul records and according to that, "After the Khaenri'ah disaster, she began her journey through the Seven Nations of Teyvat"
I just want to preface this is that i believe both aether and lumine are valid protagonists
My theory is we all know thaf Lumine is stronger than aether in terms of her charge attack as well as being able to use both hands for sword and elemental skill
While aether is faster than lumine in running and climbing but he seems to strugle when using his elemental skills mostly seen when he uses palm vortex
What if lumine is from teyvat since she is more acustomed to the land of teyvat what if the abyss lumine was carved from lumines metorite also carrying her memories of their travels and given life by the humans of teyvat similar to azdaha and aether seeing their similarities in aura and looks believed she was his sister
So when they left the heavenly principles stopped them because one of them belongs in teyvat but due to them having similar aura the heavenly principle trapped them both

Chapter 3 act 1 is the first quest of Sumeru right? The scene you're talking about is a dream Aether has been forced into, not something that actually happens. I take it to be Aether's biggest fear: a foe he can not defeat and his sibbling "betraying" him.

So I was thinking about false memories, and 'descenders'. What if there are more descenders in this world. A LOT more. Could it be possible that EVERY vision holder is a descender, and the vision ties their fate to Teyvat. Every other individual 'NPC' is a product of the world/heavenly principles, bar vision holding NPCs. Maybe Keqing was right in trying to destroy her vision. It also explains the memory loss after a vision is taken away. The problem with rewriting time and memory, is that we can't be sure of anything anymore being the 'original' course of events. So until we have more info, the story as we know it could go in any direction.
Descender are people who are not from this world there are four descender first one is the unknown god second and third there is no information and the fourth one is traveler

It doesn’t work, we witness Rana in sumeru got her dendro vision after the long Aranana quest, and before that, she’s just a ordinary person unable to wield the elements. Unlike descenders, who are already able to use their own powers by default

The twin is also the fourth descender and our characters twin. We know that Nahida’s knowledge is limited to Irminsal and we also know that you can mess with the Irminsal from the scaramouche quest. So it is possible that the twin or the abyss has messed with Irminsal in a way that they managed to manipulate the knowledge of the world to accept the twin as a citizen of teyvat..

This is a very convincing theory. And while I'm not entirely sold (I am of the belief that data within Irminsul was just straight up rewritten) some really good ideas are brought up here, especially your re-interpretation of the twins' timeline pre-cataclysm. That period of time is so unclear that anything that can build a foundation as to what the hell happened during that time is going to be extremely convincing, and this is one of the best theories in that aspect out there right now.
I think Irminsul being rewritten is a very strong possibility too and you’re so right about the uncertainty of the timelines Pre-Cataclysm, I wish we didn’t have to wait so long to know the truth.

What I'd like to have happened it lumine and aether walking the same path just in different versions of teyvat and the abyss sibling would be a recreation of the twin you didn't pick. Making it so the abyss sibling would be tied to teyvat because they are just a recreation not the actual thing.

Maybe it’s the multiverse theory where the story takes place in two separate universes each one alike in nature ,but serving one purpose to drain both Travelers of their powers. We got to remember before they lost their powers both was capable of Universal Travel and seeing as how the Heavenly Principles were stated not to be from Teyvat. It seems that the beings from Celestia are more like invaders/conquers who probably wish to force there powers on other worlds. The Abyss twin is most likely a red harren meant to throw the Travelers off from the fact that they are both doing the same exact thing and meeting the same people. This is probably what the Cryo archon sees she manages to speak with her other self and is trying to being down Celestia.

This makes me think that maybe the Lumine right now is combined with another person. What if There was an original Abyssal Princess, and that princess fought alongside Lumine during the destruction of Khaenriah? I think maybe The original Abyssal Princess may have given her memories and status to Lumine and have her existence from this world erased, just like Greater Lord Rukkhadevata. And perhaps then Lumine registers as someone who's part of Teyvat with all the memories and knowledge the original princess had?
The wosrt case scenario is that it's a fake sibling amd the real one has been dead all along. I hope not 😭

This is a good theory but I feel like they are in irminsul’s memory is because the Traveler themselves are the ones that made the world of Teyvet.Think about it,Traveler back then used the light element and coincidentally if you fuse all the 7 elements you get light as shown in enkanomiya.Traveler for some reason can gain their powers back by interacting with these elements that they probably never even heard of before and coincidentally it is the main 7 that make up the light element and at the start the unknown goddess took away their powers so we don’t know what she did with the power.She might have made Teyvet with that power and after a while she still had a lot of power so she decided to start the Archon war in order to find those who are fit to gain the immense power.The original 7 gained their core powers of elements by the Gnosis which was basically Travelers power getting split into different elements.

The theory about "Lumine" being created using Khemia makes sense to me since Gold created Albedo and the similarities between the traveler specificaly Aether and Albedo is pretty big so i have a theory what if Rhinedottir witnessed how they created the Abyss Sibling "Lumine" and tried to create one themselves but with the other twin (Aether) and thats how he made Albedo.
I dont know much about lore so i understand if this dont make sense but just my personal theory on this topic aince i find it odd too specially with the sumeru archon quest stating that the abyss twin was not included in the fatui's list of descenders

As we know, he can feel her "traces" which i assume would be some type of energy like how elemental trace works. I think the unknown god will be the final boss of the game when we arrive at khaenriah. A good Happy End could be that the unknown god is about to kill us and in that moment our abyss twin appears and together we defeat the unknown god and the heavenly principles. And I don’t think our Abyss twin is a puppet they spend so much time in the abyss that they’re becomes so heartbroken

The truth the Sister talks about could be the same truth that Gold talks about. Gold might have created the abyss sibling and told her the truth or might have send her a mission to find the truth of this world (like she did to Albedo). That's why the sister might have traveled around the world
