I have been shaving my head for about 7 years, I went through using a classic double edge razor, a modern 4 blade Gillett, and recently a 4 blade Schick. Both are actually really good shaves with a fresh new blade, but after the second or third time its all downhill and honestly I would cringe to shave. I have had my Leaf for about 2 months and I can confirm that its absolutely a fantastic shave and equal to the name brand multi-blade. I always use fresh blades, but I use Darco brand so it costs me 15¢ each shave, I reload it after I use it so its ready to go for the next time. I shave in the shower and use Level 3 shaving gel which is great because it doesn't just run off and get in your eyes. So yah Leaf is definitely what I'm going to be using for the foreseeable future.
Thanks for putting the time and effort into this video. Guys like me who hate wasting money appreciate it. I can tell we have similar hair and skin complexion, and we also shave very similar, so I truly trust your opinion brother. Will be checking the 3 blade out. Thanks again homie. God bless.
Just used the leaf on my head for the first time. I’ve been looking for a better razor than cartridge razors. I finally found it. It’s the best and easiest razor I’ve ever used.
@@microddjj it absolutely is, but definitely sharper than cartridges, I just got into the safety razor world to shave my head and have less irritation, never looking back. I even bought the twig for my face. As long as you don’t go side to side, you’ll be fine.
My Leaf (3 blade) and Twig doesn't seem to make the cut The Leaf (3 blade) is a very very close shave, but the pivoting head can scalp any bumps or imperfections on the head (usually end up cut everywhere). I found the Leaf to be hard to pivot well on top of my head (oval shaped; feels like it drags), but worked exceptionally well and fast around the back of my head. The Leaf Twig doesn't seem aggressive enough and I usually just end up using a disposal razor to finish off the job. The angle of most fixed razors are the biggest problem for me.
bought my leaf + twig a couple of years ago, never used the twig coz i just shave my head. today my leaf broke, something in the pivoting head doesn't work anymore and it became floppy so i'm ready to give the twig a try. i only ever used the leaf for my head so im kinda nervous becase i've never tried a fixed head.
Have you ever tried Artius Man's shaving cream? How about the shave gel from Beard Octane? I'm running out of my current tub of shaving cream, and need to order some soon. Haven't found many reviews online of either of those products. Figured I'd ask since I know you have used both companies for your beard products. Also, I have both the Leaf Twig and Razor. And I agree, the Razor helps get the head done fast, but the Twig is better for around the ears and hard-to-get-into spaces.
I tried Artius Man a long time ago, I’ll see if I still have it and use it again to give you an up to date opinion. My go-to is Beardbrand’s Utility Bar. One bar lasts me several months.
I have both of them. I use only the Twig for head shaving. The pivoting on the Leaf is very aggressive and confusing for me as if i don't control my shaving and never know how much pressure to put on. The Twig is a very straightforward razor. I much prefer it.
@@NoBSBeardReviews I gave up on it . If it doesn't come naturally and easily, I don't fight for it. The Twig felt perfect for me the moment I held it and tried it. My next tool is the Leaf Thorn.
I'd give the thorn a try, it's more aggressive than the twig, but that's not saying much with how gentle the twig is. I'd say it's still way less aggressive than the leaf, just gets you a much quicker/closer shave than the twig assuming you're confident in not chopping up your head with a single blade. The twig is kinda like training wheels for single blade shaving in my opinion.
I just got the supply razor. I’m not new to safety razors but I am new to the single side variant as in the supply razor. I’m thinking of switching to the Leaf for head shaving.. can you also shave your neck with the leaf or is that best to use something else. Looks like it would be hard to edge your beard with a leaf, right?
@@luhdacrismoto3388 I haven't used leaf. The supply is hard to get in behind the ear nooks. Works great for the neck as most multi blades leave my neck irritated. I would also recommend the night watch soap company for a good shave soap.
great comparison !! Have you ever fully loaded the Leaf? I am relatively new to head shaving and trying to learn as much as I can. Have a great day and smooth shaves
The best headshaves ive had with the leaf i used the most narrow angle possible and not count on the spring to correct the glide. Just help out the razor that way and youll have the best head shave ever👍
Hello friend. What blades do you use for your head shave with leaf? I got my leaf+twig set yesterday. Waited couple months for my friend from US to deliver it. And i tried it for the first time with 3 feather blades. It was not good Disappointed. Cuts everywhere. I had to try it with leaf blades for the first time I guess. My head will rest after this bloodbath for couple days and I will try it with astra blades. Some recommendations? Big shoutout from Russia. Peace.
Thanks for watching and commenting! I use Gillette Nacet blades, but I only load two in the Leaf on the bottom and middle slots. It took me about two weeks of trial and error before I could shave without cutting myself.
Its crazy how most Caucasian men can shave against the grain in the back. For African-American men that's not possible ha. Itll be a nestle crunch bar if we went against the grain in the back. We can shave acrossed the grain just fine though without irritation.
I'm Caucasian and find with the grain and then across the grain is good enough for me. Against the grain can sometimes cause irritation, razor bumps and worst of all; ingrown hairs. I shave with straight razors, safety razors, SE, and the odd time electric razors...it's totally fine with electric but they don't get so close. I found going against the grain simply wasn't worth the extra hassle, plus the blades last longer.
No disrespect, I'm a black man and I shave against the grain in the back of my head. I used to get razor bumps really bad when I used a cartridge razor. But since I've been wet shaving especially with a Rockwell 6s. I get no razor bumps in it close close shave. Just a suggestion of something that you may want to try.
Just bought my leaf using your code. Should be here today. You always use the leaf for head shaving using just 2 blades? One in the bottom and one in the middle?
Yes, that’s the setup I prefer. Every time I use all three blades I seem to cut myself. One in the middle and bottom slots are best for me, but you should experiment to see what is best for you.

I have the Thorn and the Leaf. Also, a bearded head shaver. The Thorn is great for lining up the beard and the leaf just mows it down. Great review!

Is it actually easy to use as a common cartridge razor? I'm on the clumsy side :D then i need to be careful...

Great points, they have another option, the Thorn which is supposed to be more aggressive than the twig

Just go slow the first few times. You’ve got this.

Another test is to let your hair grow out for the same time again but next time switch sides. Some people shave better with one hand vs the other.
Great idea!
I have used a Van Der Hagen safety razor and a King C Gilette safety razor. The King C Gilette safety razor works good.
Love a good safety razor on the head, just takes me a while longer to shave with.

Nice, good call.
The leaf razor or the Rockwell 6c for head shaved/closeness?
Rockwell gets slightly closer, but takes me twice as long to shave with. I’d go Leaf for ease of use and almost as close of a shave.

The Leaf looks like you're "erasing" the hair off your head 😅 gotta give this a try
It’s a great option for sure!
Even you can change the aggressiveness with the leaf ill find a way to cut my side of my head. Personally i like the Gillette Skinguard Sensitive
I find I can adjust the aggressiveness depending on the blade I use.
