Homemade Non-toxic Liquid Laundry Detergent || Frugal Recipe

This quick, frugal non-toxic laundry detergent will save you so much money!! Only 4 ingredients and super easy.
1/2 cup washing soda
1/2 cup baking soda
1/4 cup borax
1 bar of laundry bar soap (shredded)
Makes 5 gallons of laundry soap.
Melt shredded bar soap in a half gallon of water on the stove and add all other ingredients.
Fill a 5 gallon bucket almost to the top leaving room for the half gallon concentrate.
Mix the concentrate into the 5 gallon bucket with the water and allow it to sit at room temperature until the whole bucket gels.
Stir and use
If you have trouble finding the ingredients here they are online but its cheaper in store.

You could put the laundry detergent in your food processor or blender to mix it up good
I would leave any bar of soap out as it’s only a pretreatment for getting wet and scrubbing on stains, the only reason our grandmother’s used soap is all the friction, this isn’t laundry detergent, it’s laundry soap, I agree with everything else, but the baking soda, the super washing soda’s PH level cancel’s it out, I would use Dr. Bronner’s liquid not a bar of soap.
Soon the oils in the bar of soap attracts dirt like from our hands when we wash, it will stop getting your towels white and fluffy, everything will buildup get dingy and if your washer is under warranty it will void your warranty, because it will start clogging all the hoses and pipes and pull the inside of the plastic door apart.Just a tip, my friend has owned a dry cleaning business for over 20 years with his younger kids starting to take over, and they post experiment’s daily, 2 table spoons of commercial laundry detergent or powder will clean much better, Tide wins every time, but it also makes my family itch, so we use Persil and for bad or stinky laundry, soak in oxiclean in HOT water for an hour or two before wash, that stuff is a miracle for dirty grass stains, mud stains on kids clothes and the toughest oil and stuck of DH’s clothes. Just buy detergent because these DIY soap’s aren’t meant for modern washing machines, it’s an investment! 💙

It is meant to remove stains from your clothing as well as it is used for when you are hand washing your clothing only.🤔
I have a DIY laundry detergent recipe that works for me.🤔
Two or three cups of Down dishwashing liquid detergent the blue one with the duck on it.🤔
1/2 cup of Borax.🤔
1/2 cup of laundry baking soda.🤔
1/2 cup of Regular baking soda.🤔
1/3 cup of OxiClean.🤔
1/3 cup of kosher salt.🤔
One 5 gallon bucket.🤔
Mix all dry ingredients.🤔
Add one gallon of hot water.
Add the Down dishwashing detergent.🤔
Mix it.🤔
You can use one teaspoon or one tablespoon for each load of laundry.🤔
And you some white vinegar as your fabric softener.🤔
And a wooly ball with some pure essential oils for your dryer.🤔
One glass spray bottle.🤔
Some witch hazel.🤔
Some pure essential oils.🤔
Some bottled water.🤔
Spray once or twice onto the wooly ball and place it into the dryer with your laundry.🤔
I like to hand wash the majority of my clothing and hang dry my laundry outside even in winter time as long as it does not rain or snow.🤔

looking for something more natural
I’ve found this separates and is not suitable to put in a jug.. I found if you put one cup of regular laundry detergent in it it has enough chemicals and in it to keep it from separating. Then you can just put it in your old laundry detergent jugs.

is zote the same as fels naptha the same as zote? you m ention fels naptha at the end of video so Im confused. also why not just use the flakes ?
They are both soap bars and can work interchangeably. My local store is always swapping them. If I could buy flakes, that would be even better, but I don't have anything like that available near me.

What are your tricks to saving money?
Good tutorial. I’ve never made this although I have the ingredients to do so. I’m very interested. Questions: does this ever sour in the 5-gallon bucket, for example, in months of temps 90° to 100° or more? Or change texture?
Thats a great question 🤔 I have never had mine longer than 5 months and it hasn't changed it that time at all. I keep it in my laundry room. If you had the choice of a cooler room like cellar to keep the 5 gallon bucket that may be best but I haven't seen any need.
I have made this, the laundry butter version, and a dry version. All using the same basic ingredients. I have been using the dry version for a long time but I think I will go back and try this one again. It is definitely cheaper to use this wet version, I just did not like the egg flower soup chunkyness of it. LOL I think I would like it better if I got the paint stirring drill attachment and used it before I put it in the smaller container. Thanks for the reminder of this one!!😁
