I lived on campus of OHIO STATE as a kid when this song came out in 1967. Loved it . Playing on the am transistor radio. Strapped to my stingray bicycle. Riding up down those old brick streets. Truly the wonder yrs. CTA was the best album of all of them. Love the 2nd album also 25 6 24 make me smile. 😊 great times
Yes i forgot so maby it was 69 i heard it while rideing the bike questions 67 68. Got some radio play at that time. And beginnings. I still lived up there to jan 1970
What an extraordinary band ❤ never heard something like this since… what a beat and those horns we don’t hear music like this anymore, I don’t care if it’s ❤
Yes, he did so quite a lot. Since this is an overdubbed recording that sort of matches the live performance, Pete's bass playing stands out as fake. He was good, but like many musicians, never did it the same way twice.
All of the older Chicago videos are overdubbed with studio version which I think is disgusting. Love Chicago....stop the overdubbing and let us hear the real thing live. Geez.
Yea, I noticed that right away. It's not quite as bad as when like on tv they used to lip sync to their record, but you can tell the action doesn't match the music. Luckily Chicago was such excellent professional players that they could match their recording almost exactly live. Still, the video only matches this audio by about 80%. The real dead giveaway is at the end when they clumsily fade out the recording and give you about 3 seconds of the live sound. Don't get me wrong, it still sounds good. Nothing is more disappointing than finding a rare video and finding the audio was recorded on a cheap, handheld recorder in the back of the audience. Sounds like an old transistor radio playing in a metal bucket.
@@snidelywhiplash6889 One of these Paris recordings of 67 & 68 is live and the other one is overdubbed. You are right, the Tanglewoods are live and pretty well recorded. They are precious gems.
No, this was a live performance with the original audio removed and replaced by the studio recording. A little better than what they did on American Bandstand, but still noticeable as fake.
Is this the version in which someone "pasted" the studio recording? I think we can enjoy the original sound in this version: ua-cam.com/video/whMZ0Th9-4M/v-deo.htmlsi=KPaoESeT0njI8Fno In any case, thanks for sharing!
Gotta love lip-sync. Still love this song and back when the band was this lineup. When the great Terry Kath died... Chicago was not Chicago, any longer. Surely, they put out some great tunes. But, its not Chicago.
This is when Chicago was who they where. No lip sync here !! This was in the early 60s before we were able to find a way to make this like they could nowadays. I can't believe you said that Missy!!
Broken jaw and teeth knocked out in Spring of '69. I am pretty sure when this video was shot, he was probably wearing some braces. Look you can see his mouth looks a little puffy.
I could listen to this every day.
Never seen Peter Cetera so young before 😮
Terry Kath was beyond cool and so good on guitar🎉
Pete has one of the best voices in rock n roll
Omg I adore Peter Cetera
Thank you!! I was so young when this beautiful old was released. I am 60yrs old this was my life!!
2023 Chi Town Girl native here. I agree.
I’ve always liked the way Terry Kath always gravitated to the drummer.
watching in May 2024 !!

The best American music band.
What an extraordinary band ❤ never heard something like this since… what a beat and those horns we don’t hear music like this anymore, I don’t care if it’s ❤
If it’s lip-sink… come on people, they recorded it at some point and they are super 🎉
Brilliant song... Loved hearing it when I was young ☺️❤️🎶🎤🎸
yes. It took THIS SONG for me to fall in love with Chicago. This one sealed the deal. Peter's best rendition is in 1972 at the Budokan. Sublime.
These young boys were very talented 👏👏👏
Beautiful!!!
シカゴの中でも傑作な曲。初めて高校1年に聞いたが、今でも最高!!
I wish it was 1970 again!!!!!
Great Show..Have Complete Concert On CD.

Jamin on a Bass Guitar like a lead Guitar .
Awesom!!!
Not complaints, I was 2 & 3 in 67 & 68, was just wondering… love you guys Chicago, though born Indianapolis, IN
Keep the music going!
Music has no borders. You could be from Taiwan and like them as much as you do being from Indiana.
Chicago at their early best
This may be sacrilegious, but isPETE CETERA playing Fender Bass with a pick?
Yes, he did so quite a lot. Since this is an overdubbed recording that sort of matches the live performance, Pete's bass playing stands out as fake. He was good, but like many musicians, never did it the same way twice.
They actually make a bass pick for this. It is oversized and felt covered so that it doesn't make that metallic high-pitched click on the strings.

The Tanglewood recordings were well done, no overdubbing.
That's not true. Not ALL older videos are overdubbed. Tanglewood is live!

@@3503michaelpdo you have a link to those two Paris ones?
Shame they never played WOODSTOCK…. but rock historians say they had a gig that weekend at FILMORE EAST?
DE MIS PREFERIDAS PARA ESCUCHAR Y PARA INTERPRETAR...."BANDA MACHO" 1969.........
Was this before or after Cetera’s fight and jaw injury?
Чикаго очень охуенная группа , мать ее!)))
Mimed to actual song. The days when they were good.

Is it just me, or did Pankow look like Robert Culp back then?
great song! not one to dance to I m afraid

This is not a live performance 🙄
Cetera at his very best!
Gotta love lip-sync. Still love this song and back when the band was this lineup. When the great Terry Kath died... Chicago was not Chicago, any longer. Surely, they put out some great tunes. But, its not Chicago.

Is this before he got his teeth knocked out in a fight?
No, this was December 1969
Who got teeth knocked out?
Broken jaw and teeth knocked out in Spring of '69. I am pretty sure when this video was shot, he was probably wearing some braces. Look you can see his mouth looks a little puffy.
Are you taking about Peter?
Alli care about is Terry at this concert 😍🥰
The overdubbing on this is obvious. Don’t like it.
Lip synch over the studio recording. Pretty obvious.
One big fat fake performance.
Lip synch. 😢
