  • Testing the haulage of the new Hornby TT Duchess it happily pulls 27 coaches. As the controller was just over half I guess I could have put more on but did not want to overload her.
    Truly a magnificent model.

    That is an impressive sight. Those locos are well sorted. Your axle bearing modifications help make the coaches freer running too perhaps?

      The 27 coaches on the outer track are 23 Mk1's which did not need any mods like the Staniers. The 4 parcels at the rear were all done using the grinding method.
      With the BR Staniers, all but one were fine and run smoothly out of the box unlike the LMS versions. The one that did scrape was very minimal and just got the odd grinding done.

      @JohnThomas-lc3hr thank you.
      I have no record of running time for any of my locos and so far not had any issues. The 3 locos that did have a motor change were all running perfectly to start with.
      I have been told that the wiper contacts are prone to wear quickly with higher current consumption so any used on dcc as well as sound will wear out a lot, lot quicker than ones used on standard dc analogue. Hornby were unaware of this and have since been looking and testing a new motor. Fingers crossed it is successful.
