- The day has finally arrived! We put the sc14 supercharged m50b20 T18 TE72 Corolla on the dyno and see what numbers she makes! It's been a long time coming but i'm SO stoked on this car. Now we just have to wait for a track day to pop up so we can stretch her legs! Or do we....😝. Enjoy!

FYI: These engines make 110kw (150hp) at the CRANK from stock. That’s about 88kw at the wheels (118hp). Then you have to add in the loss of power over 30years of running, it probably had about 80kw N/A at the wheels. So 32kw (42hp) gain from 3psi of boost is fricken awesome. Not to mention the torque gains. Now let’s put 10psi up her and see how she goes 😝.

That's a tiny blower for a 2l kinda wonder why not just start with an m90? Not sure how hard they are to come by there but in the USA I can go to the junkyard any day of the year and pull one off a 3800scII for 35 out the door and I know those are happy making 3-400hp don't know kw well lol.

Sounds sick bro. As for power though wouldnt you be better with an m50b25 or m52 2.8? they make like 140kw stock
The aim was to not spend $$ on this build but use what I had lying round. All of those numbers are at the crank so they don't actually make that much power. The T18 feels crazy to drive now it's actually a little scary haha. 10psi will see an easy 140kw and she'll rip!
is your maf plugged in? i tried a positive displacment supercharger like that, maf->SC->throttle, and it didnt run very well. seemed like the supercharger was pulling more than the engine wanted, threw everything off, alpha n worked pretty good, before i blew the charger up

Would you need a bonnet vent with pod filter because it's facing backwards or would it get enough air through the grill?

These motors make 110kw at the crank from factory. Calculating a 20% drivetrain loss is 88kw at the wheels not to mention power lost over time being a 30 or so year old engine. So 110kw at the wheels with just 3psi boost is actually super impressive. 10psi and she'll be perfect I reckon.

My Last m50b20 got Stock 114kw on the dyno , hmm . Without changing Something.

pretty close to what i guessed at 165hp but i assumed the sc would be running 5psi. looks like it has heaps of low end torque though, normal b20's are as bad as rb20's before 4,500rpm lol
Haha you're spot on! Feels like a completely different car at 3psi. New pulley is on the way that should make 10-12psi. Should be fun 🤓.

He didn’t need an intercooler because the Sc is so close to the intake right? If it was on the other side he’d wanna run the outlet through intercooler pipe and the other end of the intercooler pipe would go to the throttle body? I’m looking at buying this SC for my Camry
My 2azfe long block is remanufactured with upgraded internals cost me 1670$ for the whole thing shipping 1995$
Might be an exhaust leak still. After you tightened and started to put on trailer, exhaust still blew out by the front wheel

Hello again bro,i sent you also msg at IG but propably didnt see it.. Dont use diverter valve,it makes it noisy and also has surge! Use an idle bypass valve from mini cooper! There are plenty of them at ebay,they arent pricey. With a valve like that,it drives much better,better throttle response,better fuel economy,supercharger is cooler and has linear torque output. Mine currently is running only at 1 PSI because of the small pulley on supercharger and because of the huge intake from M50. Although ruuning so little boost, it has MUCH torque from 2k rpms until 7k. After lockdown ill make a huge pulley for spinning the supercharger 18k rpms (now it spins only 11k)... Hey George! that's cool, thanks for the info. Remember you need a SMALLER pulley on the supercharger to make more boost, not bigger. A bigger pulley will spin the supercharger slower. 🤓
Indeed mate! But i use the AC pulley to spin the charger,so its simpler to make a bigger crank pulley, than buy or make a smaller for charger...It is 122mm,I'll make a 180mm one. Your gain at the wheels is definitely mad from only 3 psi of boost, we wait another dyno with a smaller pulley!
Why didn’t you go with a m50b25 or something a bit bigger like the 328i engine? They aren’t overly expensive
This build is made from spare parts I had lying around. The aim was to spend little to no $$. I have my e36 for big power fun 🤓

Ok we are spoiled in the US 😂 when I read M50 I immediately thought B25 cause that's the only M50 we have. I was so lost on how low the power was until I read it was a B20 😂
How did u gap the spark plugs ?? And can you do it if it has 3 point tip
Denushka De Joodt I run Bkr7e spark plugs in all of my M5x engines. They’re a single point tip and easy to gap!

Very similar! I'd say the powerband is better than the b25 because of how the SC is on from the get go. 10psi and she'll be a little animal!

Do you know how many kilometers are on the engine? I want to do this to my e46 m52tub25 but she has 295xxx kms dont know if its worth cause she might blow awesome content mike stay safe!
Hey Nolan! Not quite sure but she definitely has a lot of k's on her haha. Easily over 200k that's for sure. Do a comp test, if it's all good, go nuts!

Makes less than 88kw NA. I should have done an NA dyno and an SC dyno for you guys haha. Remember 110kw stock is at the CRANK. Not wheels. 20% power loss through the driveline = 88kw. When driving it, the SC makes a HUGE difference.
