  • Moonshine has a few intricate tasks that need done before we can start racing again. Welding the slip joints was probably the most important and pressing task that we needed to complete. It went a lot smoother than we thought it would and that's all we could ask for.

The dragsters looking good, I love nostalgia drag racing! I don't care for slip joint chassis much, Think they flex a little to much sometimes. I enjoy the videos you post keep them coming.

Thank you! Yeah after our first experience with these kind of animals we agree that they flex too much and start breaking other stuff. Thanks for watching!

The un-triangulated section in front of the driver cage is very flexible by design and prone to fatigue and stress cracking. Top Fuel and Alcohol classes don’t allow painting the chassis so tech can inspect for cracks. Most either cold blue their frames or clear coat. I presume the class you’re running allows painted frames? The hammer tone paint does look good though.

Yeah we haven't done a whole lot of racing yet. It's a new car last year and still being figured out. We didn't want it to flex too much and/or cause a crack or fracture near the slip joints so we welded them. Of course some flex is good as well

Im so jealous. Me and my fiance want to build a dragster for our second Pontiac 400 and trans. Its at the machine shop to get checked out and bored out if it gets the green light from the magna fluxing (sp)

I'm curious why you didn't use cool packs on the lower rails to insure there would be no warpage during welding?
