    I love this era
    This was what I was introduced to in the 1960’s in the UK
    Don Garlits, Tommy Ivo, Dante Duce, Danny Ongais, George Montgomery, KS Pitman, Dave Strickland, Ronnie Sox. And last but not least Mickey Thomas in the Harvey Aluminium Special.
    Great memories.

    Brings back memories of making plastic kits from Revell and AMT of this style of dragster.
    Modern equivalents make these cars look comparatively slow, but I bet they are just as much a handful and a frightening assault to the senses.
    Great to see this period of the sports development being preserved in racing form.

      Build those Revell plastic kits again! Us baby boomer model builders still do and it's a great way to kill spare time. I still do and nothing is like these old dragster like the oll' days!

    That was REAL drag racing! Sitting in the stands chomping on hot dogs, hamburgers French fries and gulping down Coke! Nothing is like the old school drag racing! 🇨🇦😋🍔🍟👠👙🏁

      As per usual in these comments, some "remember when" has to insult the new school while touting the old school...
      Ok grandpa, I'm game...
      You time these jalopies with a sundial? A modern top fueler would blow this junk off the track with the zoomie flow alone!
      Suck on 339 mph in 1000 ft, snail rails!
      Too much?

      Come on mate , these were the trailblazers of what you witness today and without them, there would be no today. So a little respect please.

    We would run a dry block cause the engine would run for maybe 6 or 7 minutes. And we had to push start the Injected Jr Fueler back in 1969. I would love the push start and lighting it right in front of the spectators at OCIR. Those were the days.

    Wow. How sad is that? My dad and his buddies were building BB/GD's w/a cast iron 392 Hemi that were running in the 7's back in the 60's to early 70's. I remember riding in the push truck push starting it up the track when I was 5. Miss those days.

    As a former FED campaigner, I have a strong opinion on cacklefests. Probably unpopular but nevertheless, it IS my opinion: if you aren't going to race it put it in a museum. You are a racer or you aren't.

    • @tomeighty
      @tomeighty  3 роки тому

      I kind of agree with you on that, but with the state of the way Drag Racing is going I feel it is better to get them out there and show the younger generation what it was like back in the day. Kids just aren't getting that excited about racing newer stuff.

  • @dragsterstransmissions

    Ahhhhhh Yes somebody finally put up a video of real race cars. I've had a bunch of these cars since 97. If I knew how to do link to my channel to show mine

      Thank you! I really enjoyed watching these dragsters. Especially that flame show at the end, made me feel like what it would have been like back in the day.

      @@tomeighty the cackle fest at night is fun. I don't normally do it with mine but I have. I run pump gas or alcohol thru my small blocks. I do have another small block that I run nitro methane thru.
      Did you get close enough to feel it in your chest when they WAP the throttle?

    To have balls big enough to drive one of those and then to risk them by hanging them in front of a differential with 1000+ hp going through it makes you a truly special human being.

    • @johnevans388
      @johnevans388 8 місяців тому

      I did it back in the 70s in the UK, when I reflect back on how close the most importants parts of my body were to it with just 1/4" of mild steel plate protecting them all can think is that I must have been very stupid and very young,

    It takes a special kind of guy to rest his family jewels on a read end that could explode if it wanted to. That's why at 16 I went with gasser door cars.

    I'm looking at it, but, how is he sitting behind the motor, transmission, and differential like that? Does his legs go up over the axle to the pedals? I, uh, am I seeing things? What's the inside look like?

    • @tomeighty
      @tomeighty  4 місяці тому
