Linda’s talent was amazing one of the greatest voice of a generation her covers more times than not were better than the original, her music catalog is huge from country, rock, American standards, jazz, opera, to Canciones de Mi Padre the largest non English selling album of all time 11 Grammys, over 100 million albums sold, there’s only one Linda Ronstadt
Linda is one of my favorite singers. I have all of her vinyl record albums in my collection. Her voice is so awesome. She can sing any type of music! ❤❤❤
As a boomer I heard Linda's version and later Whitney's. Listening now I am amazed at how similar they are. Every voice break, every rifle was the same. I am OK with that but they are VERY alike.
Linda's cover of Dolly's original is AWESOME as you can tell. Linda was the QUEEN of singing other people's songs and making them her own. See the Eagles' "Desperado" as an example or Roy Orbison's "Blue Bayou" and Clint Ballard's "You're No Good".
The backstory on this song is that Kevin Costner brought it to the directors attention for the film because he was familiar with Linda's version, not Dolly's original.
Whitney Houston definitely listened to Linda’s version before she did hers. This is my favorite rendition of this beautiful song. Linda Ronstadt is the very best. IMHO she had the most gorgeous voice on the planet. More Linda please. 🌺✌️
Do some of her live songs Desperado, Blue Bayou, Down so Low all just amazing. She's also does some Mexican songs live that will blow your mind unbelievable.
Hi Jarryl, it’s been awhile since I made a request. But first I hadn’t heard this Linda version. I’d heard that Whitney based her performance on it, now I’ve heard it and wow. I don’t know how I missed it but I did. Alison is a fave Linda song of mine. Written by Elvis Costello, Linda just nails it. But that’s not my formal request. I know you like me are Carpenters fan. I’m an OG fan buying Close To You in 1970 at the age of 14. Karen got me through my teen years. Just sayin’ it goes deep. So what I’m going to ask for goes against how many Carpenters fans react. I was one too. No one can sound like Karen did. Well, that’s true but it doesn’t mean someone can come so close you better keep your eyes open. I’ve heard Harriet, Chloe, Ksenia, Toni and Sally. And all can sing beautifully. None are in my wheelhouse for continued listening, especially Carpenters songs. There is someone I’ve been listening to since October that is that person. Recently a man named Jim came upon her and thought, she’s really good but needs more Richard. She was already singing Richard’s parts but Jim felt she needed more. So he took her cover of The Bacharach/David Medley and he put himself into a split screen with her vertical video and provided Richard’s harmonies. I think I asked you about this song months ago. Well it turned out well, she loved it and secretly they recorded another song together. A full length cover/recreation of We’ve Only Just Begun. Tori Holub didn’t have to do the “Richard” part, Jim would take care of that. So she “just” sang the lead vocal. Jim got some friends to play all the instruments with Jim doing a bunch also. Tori is a multi-instrumentalist but just sang on this one. This song dropped on 3/2/24, in honor of Karen’s birthday in heaven. It’s on the move on UA-cam but on Tori’s “I” channel. The short promoting this full song has had 3/4 Million views since Saturday. Now if they’d follow the link to UA-cam we’d have a viral video. In this old Carpenter’s fan’s opinion, this is the single best cover of a Carpenters song ever, even outdoing Tori’s earlier efforts. That’s saying a lot! She has some amazing short covers. This is full length and a beautiful video. Jim produced this video. So I’m asking a big one. Please react to this from your love of Carpenters. I asked last time if your pp was active as I’d like to make a donation to your channel. I appreciate your work. UA-cam unsubscribed me, I resubscribed. I’ve had to do that a lot lately. Argh. I want to ask that you don’t mask the video. It’s an independent don’t shouldn’t have issues. It’s a very intricate video and should be seen as well as heard. It’s in the style of Leonid & Friends. I call it Tori, Jim & Friends. Jim is in my age range, maybe a bit younger but he knows his Carpenters. Tori is 20 and a Carpenters super-fan and collector. 20??? Karen was 20 for the big front end run so synergy on the talent level. Here’s the link and I so hope you do this one. For an old Carp fan that likes your channel. I found you earlier because of Carpenters. So synergy. Joe ua-cam.com/video/J95lfJqo9VY/v-deo.htmlsi=OLGcG-yy7GAAgyP4 .
Dolly's original version is warm and sweet, Linda's version is moving and sentimental, Whitney's version is very powerful, but it doesn't give me the same emotion I get from Linda's interpretation.
"Trio" album!! Have you done "Trio?" Every single track is a total winner. Dolly Parton. Linda Ronstadt. Emmylou Harris. My favorite Linda Ronstadt track on that album is "Telling Me Lies."
She did so many good songs easily one of the most versatile female artists to come along. I've many personal favorites but Dreams to Dream which was for a Animated Film called "The American Tale" is really good and most Ronstadt Fans are not aware of it : ua-cam.com/video/xmQb_yE3eyk/v-deo.html
The summer of 1977
I Followed LINDA RONSTADT to 5 NEW ENGLAND STATES to see 6 LINDA RONSTADT Concert... With friends and by myself great summer.
Sounds amazing! 1977 I was 21 years old. Darn!
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
I’m so glad you will continue to react to Linda! Her live concerts are fantastic. She is incomparable!

Listen to Down So Low. That will blow your hair back.
The live version knocks my socks off!

Linda was dubbed "The Queen of Rock" long ago ...
A cover, Tracks of my tears my first
Linda Ronstadt album
Linda's voice is gorgeous and the difference is in how she coveys very deep emotions through her voice. Sorry Whitney, Linda gets my vote
The backstory on this song is that Kevin Costner brought it to the directors attention for the film because he was familiar with Linda's version, not Dolly's original.
Soo many Linda songs to choose from! Try "I Knew You When," "Easy For You To Say," and "Party Girl" for some early 80s Linda.
Those 3 songs are awesome choices!
Whitney Houston definitely listened to Linda’s version before she did hers. This is my favorite rendition of this beautiful song. Linda Ronstadt is the very best. IMHO she had the most gorgeous voice on the planet. More Linda please. 🌺✌️
Agreed !
You will always think of Whitney when you hear this song, but Linda's version is as powerful and pure
Get Closer live from the Tonight Show 1983 by Linda
Do some of her live songs Desperado, Blue Bayou, Down so Low all just amazing. She's also does some Mexican songs live that will blow your mind unbelievable.
More Linda young fella.
Laura Fabian has a great live version of this song after she talks to the audience for 5 minutes in French.

Whitney Sang this Version not Dolly's Version...People them up....
Try her version of “Adios” with Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys singing backup, written by Jimmy Webb: ua-cam.com/video/LtmQat6nC_o/v-deo.html.

This is a variation of Dollys mellow country version. Very nice, but neither Dolly or Linda could anticipate what Whitney would do with this song!
Baloney!

You are correct ...
To me Linda's is the best version !
Very bad audio quality on the video that this requestor picked
The greatest most versatile female vocalist of her generation.
