This live, in a 15,000 seat arena. She could fill those large venues with her power, and cut through the guitars and bass with ease, which made her perfect for the decade of the 70s.
Grew up in 60’s, going to concerts only expected to hear the singer-sing. No lip syncing, just pure talent. Lucky our generation had true talent to listen too.Linda also did 2 double platinum albums in Spanish. Also, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt made two albums under Trio. Pure, unadulterated talent.
The most beautiful female voice on the planet. She deserved each and every one of the multiple awards and accolades she received. An amazing live performer as is evidenced here. This is my favorite live performance of hers. The passion and the amazing control and use of volume. Just stunning. This was in 1976 in Germany. Please explore more of her forty plus years catalogue. You will never be disappointed. 🌺✌️
@MrZocor That's not true, she has Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, her memory may in time be affected, but it has not yet reached an advanced stage, regrettably there is no cure, nor any effective treatment for the disease at the moment.
Control, Power and Clarity are trademarks of Linda. This song is off Linda's "Hasten Down the Wind" album, her 3rd straight platinum in a row. Linda was the first woman to accomplish that feat and she didn't stop till she had 6 in a row, 8 if you count her 2 greatest hits albums.
I saw this concert live in 1977. She made many slobbering fans for life...including myself. Dig deeper into her career, and you will be amazed by her talent.
This is blues. Just another type of music that she took on and mastered. As well as this, she did rock, pop, country, jazz, mariachi and opera. You have just entered the vortex that is Linda Rondstat.
Legendary singer-songwriter Willie Nelson once said "There are two kinds of men. Those who are those who are in love with Linda Ronstadt and those who ask: Who is Linda Ronstadt?"
I saw Linda in November 1975 and unfortunately she didn’t perform this song that night. I later read that this song literally gave her hives it was that hard to sing. I’ve searched the internet and this is the only live performance I can find of her singing Down So Low. Even though she didn’t do this song it was still one of the greatest concerts I’ve seen in my 76 years. Oh and the opening act, The Eagles, we’re great too
Great reaction. Ms Ronstadt performs many genres. Please consider “Ooh, Baby, Baby” (Motown), “La Charreada” (Spanish) and “What’s New” (American Standards) for a sample of her diversity of styles. Different genres but always with that great voice.
There is so much to say about Linda. How about the fact that she attracted the best musicians and they all put together the very best arrangements. Her control and power too but here is something that is also true and never mentioned. That is she BECOMES the person she is singing about. She doesn't need to change the lyrics in "Willin" for a female, she becomes that male truck driver. She so thoroughly embodies the person she is singing about that often at the end she opens her eyes and giggles as she returns to Linda Ronstadt. Most singers just sing a good song and perhaps add a little feeling. Not Linda. She TRANSFORMS herself. You can see it here too. Another thing (that Dolly Parton mentioned) she was a perfectionist. She never put out something that wasn't the best she could do. As an example look at her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at Dodger stadium. She passed that ethic on to the Don and Glenn of the Eagles.

What the Universe creates when it is showing off. Real, Rare and Remarkable.

Fuck! Her voice is so beautiful!
@MrZocor I did not know that. Is that why I haven't seen her for many years?

@MrZocorit is terminal and she won’t be with us much longer. And that’s TRAGIC!

Linda always had incredible breath control.
Her voice was extraordinary. I saw her live so many times. Listen to Blue Bayou or Desperado. Great reaction.
Same.
Probably the best mezzo-soprano ever to lend her voice to popular music.
Her Spanish tracks are amazing, La Charreda

One of the best of all time

That's a performance you can watch a thousand times and never tire of.
You are not the only guy to be gobsmacked by her voice.

She's amazing. Long LongTime is great too.

She's the G.O.A.T. Have a listen to La Cigarra..
Yes, live without Auto tune or any other electronic help
Another stellar version: Tracy Nelson & Mother Earth.

This was written by Tracy Nelson around 1965 and is about her relationship with musician Steve Miller.
Yes. Tracy recorded a powerful stripped down version with just a piano. She's a gem.
@@janetsmiley6778 Certainly her father's daughter, to be sure.
best white female singer over the last 50 years power and beauty !!! had her albums since 1973 onwards the Eagles were her backing band 111
"There are 3 singers: Barbara Streisand, Linda Ronstadt, and Connie Smith. The rest of us are just pretenders." - Dolly Parton.
Listen to her studio version of Desperado
She wasn't the Queen of Rock'n' Roll for nothing!
