  • Last week I posted the full 2 hour morning Metra rush hour. This is the 13 minute time lapse of the same video. Enjoy!
    I notated all the trains that are in service. The trains that don't have text next to them are out of service trains, or deadhead moves. This is the morning rush hour so most trains inbound towards the city are full of commuters. Many of the trains outbound are headed to the yard empty to sit and wait for the evening rush hour.
    The music is from app.soundstripe.com
    The songs are:
    Metropolis Daybreak Cody Martin instrumental
    Chasing Light Rob Fleming instrumental

    Luke! Great job as usual.
    The billboard at the end says it all re: the Chicago commute!!

      Are you talking about the Metra sign that says, "Easy come. Easy Go"? I searched my video and didn't see anything else.

      Luke,
      Yes, that's the one! Still can't believe how many people use the highway out NW when the train is right there.

    Love the impressive skyline and the hustle demonstrated by trains getting folks to their destinations...fabulous!

    Great 👍🏻 video Luke. Lots of painstaking work apparent- labeling & color coding the various lines and trains. Literally a beehive of activity. Need one of Chicago’s South suburbs! Excellent video.

    If only the trains ran on electricity...
    That grade crossing is so awkward.

      The Metra Electric District is electrified.

    Funny seeing so many light power moves.

      @Luke_Starkenburg  5 років тому

      xray606 What do you consider light power moves? Are you talking about just one engine? That seems appropriate for how few passenger cars are in the train.

    • @xray606
      @xray606 5 років тому +1

      @@Luke_Starkenburg Yeah, typically railroads in the US refer to a move with locos only, as 'light power'. They were moving around quite a few. They might transfer them from one side to the other after the rush, depending on the need. Or they might bring them back to the shop on the south end.

      @@xray606 Check out this short clip from another of my videos. ua-cam.com/video/WAMq0g1dWHY/v-deo.html. Start around 1:40. It's one loco pulling 136 cars in upstate NY.

    This has me confused. I thought OTC was on the ne side of the Loop and the union station was on the sw corner of the loop.

    Why do most of the outbound trains not have descriptions?

    • @Luke_Starkenburg
      @Luke_Starkenburg  5 років тому +1

      Spencer Boxer I forgot to mention that any trains that aren’t notated are out of service, or deadhead trains. They are going empty to the yard. Since this is the morning rush hour, most of the inbounds are full and a log of the trains we see going outbound are heading to the yard empty until the evening rush hour.
