I think the answer to that is that mass production earns more money, and these items are very difficult to make, but on the other hand it makes them far more special and valuable.
The masterpiece of the Frères Rochat; it uses the most compact mechanism of it's type, and entire mechanism is in the end of the gun body where the bird comes out the front. Originally sold in pairs, only one matched pair is known to exist, and a handful of loose examples. The last one to be found was restored by Parmigiani, and I believe that was about ten years ago.
Thank you so much for allowing me the privileged of seeing such wonderful creations I never knew they existed. Mr. Patek Philippe was born with a special gift and I am glad You shared his selected one of a kind works of art. Thank you again, in fact thank you a million times over for sharing this with us.
When visiting Patek Philippe Museum in 2005 I remember seeing a clock only 8mm diameter. Imagine all the parts of clock movement squeezed in so miniature size and still being functional.
Thank you so very much in presenting such wonderful works of art and skills of vintage watchmaking. Beautiful works of art. The Automotons are breath-taking enjoyment for the eyes. Thanks again for a wornderful video.
When Clive Barker described how Lemarchand was a bird box builder more than 10 years ago, I never imagined that such things could exist until today. Now I really must ask, was the Lament Configuration a fictional invention or a reality? What an amaizing concept.
I know they aren't the same thing but every Easter I buy a Takara musical egg. Open it and something moves. Dinosaurs, kittens, etc. Getting harder to find.
The first to make a robotic man is the island’s Muslim scholar Badīʿ az-Zaman Abu l-ʿIzz ibn Ismāʿīl ibn ar-Razāz al-Jazarī was a Muslim polymath: a scholar, inventor, mechanical engineer, artisan, artist and mathematician from Jazira. And yet another beautiful HQ music box I would love to have. And clock/watch. "If you need to ask how much, then it's not for you." How many times have you guys heared that? Well bullshit. I like to know how much money I'm spending...you guys would too. I'm sure. That will be $235,000.00 please. WTF?????? Yes, If it's worth it to you. And you and I was a Billionaire with change. Billionaires are nice. Especially if they are me or you. Preferably me lol But if you, I need to borrow some $$$ please. About $2.5 million in cash. If you are a Billionaire, you wont miss it. Pay you back in monthly installments of $125.00.
HOW could anyone dislike this? These tiny treasures are so wonderful!!!
Every piece here is just absolutely magnificent. I could cry, they are all so beautiful.
Why has such beautiful handiwork like this been lost to the ages? Machines may make things easier, but they can't make things as beautiful as these.
these things are machines
Nothing is lost,.
Patek Philippe still exists.

forbidden knowledge, all of this was banned and decommissioned long time ago, research about this old technologies
Rich people today prefer to spend money on yachts and plastic surgery instead of art
The pistol with the bird coming out is just beyond words.

Repulsive? Oxymoron? Incongruous?

The Patek Philippe Museum contains a vast variety of timepieces and automata from all over Europe.

Amazing craftsmanship and artistry on a par with Carl Faberge.

Why not show the actual automatons instead of cartoons of them?

They take to much effortt and to many hours to design and build. Wouldnt you rather have a battery poluting Tesla than an XKE jaguar ? Oh well
