What a treat to see. I’m a former submarine repairman and I love all things mechanical, in particular automatons. Exquisite! Pure folly and a joy to behold.
"Interestingly......Here at Christie's............we sold...one individual pistol......over 20 years ago....at auction....in Geneva....it fetched......at the time.....hammer price.... of $1 million dollars." Phew. We got there finally! Way to drag it out man.
This dude is the slimiest of used cars salesmen, he will try and tell you a beat up rolex submariner covered in scratches has never been worn. Its happened
"Made in very limited number" yeah id say, after building one of these you would probably lose you mind, incredibly complicated but so beautiful, sometimes when i visit a city like Chicago or New York and look at some of the old buildings and Churches made in the 1800s and early 1900s i am fascinated by the attention to detail and have to wonder, how did they make all those designs outside?? people back then sure were talented and so much attention to detail
It's because they are priceless relics. They were beautifully crafted, the bird looks real, & the song from the bird sounds even realer. So crazy to see the craftsmanship of 200yrs ago still working & looking brand new. Throwing a boomerang of respect from Wilmington Delaware 2020.
I had read about these! Some will reject these as frivolous and decadent; but the work and thought that went into making these defies immagination. Do care for them, not because of their price or their gold, but because of the amazing artistic weight they possess!
At first I thought these were actual, working pistols... which would be very cool if they were, but what they actually are is so much more amazing...🤯🤯🤯
ok holdup, If a guy had these pistol in his possession, then why in the world would he rob a bank? The pistol themselves already has more cash than someones entire savings!
The comments: "doesn't shewt bullits, is crap" Grow up you little unappreciative shits, this thing is amazing. It's very pretty and pleasing aesthetically, in addition to having a impossibly complicated clockwork mechanism inside it, incredibly advanced for the time peroid it was made in. I genuinely said wow when i saw the little bird pop up and start moving in such a detailed way. I mean, it's made of fucking diamonds ffs.
ozipk Then don't forget to destroy everything that you can find in museums, it was mostly commissioned by rich people, made by useless artists who could be helping people, and destroy building with interesting architetural features too, again rich people... I could go on all day.
Practical? It would be practical for all potential buyers to instead contribute their excess wealth to the federal education fund. Or their local public schools.
I had a dream about a music box housed in a little gold piano. What was so extraordinary about it were the tiny golden hands which moved on the keys as it played...
Guys.. This is art.. like a painting or a sculpture. Stop saying they should shoot bullets. that's like saying an ice sculpture is worthless cause you can put it in your drink... art has many forms, this is one of them. Their value comes from the value someone places on them. Like a painting... why is a painting by Michaelangelo worth millions? Because the paint cost that much ? No.... because of its beauty to the people who appreciate it. Just like these guns...
Looking at the xray of these pistols is amazing. But I cant imagine how insanely small the pieces are inside the bird itself. The maker of these must have had super powers for the patience...Just amazing!
I Think it would be just beautiful to hear the beautiful little bird sing a sweet song of happiness just before you blow someone’s head off. Now that’s the real way of giving someone the bird!
These are priceless just look at the extradinary craftsmanship. I would believe it 1 million US dollars. I would have loved to have met the man who made these pair of bird pistols.
Elegant design turning what appears to be an object of violence into a peaceful work if mechanical art, it's almost poetic and I hope the federation will one day achieve such a level of peace with the romulan and cardassian empires.
A pair of singing-bird pistols made of gold and inlaid with gems sold for HK$45.5 million ($5.8 million) at a Christie’s International sale in Hong Kong yesterday. לכל מי שרצה לדעת !
Who knew there was even ONE 'Singing Bird Pistol'? The price seems rather low, considering the miraculous nature of the objects. What was the eventual selling price?
2 people who had WAY too much time on their hands: 1) The person who made these. 2) The person who put together that crazy complex.animation of how they worked!!
***** One can always just increase the scale until it meets the capabilities of a 3D printer, perhaps it could work if scaled up to the size of a typical handgun.
I just love how everyone is at 3D printing... to copy something even the best craftmanship could ever HOPE to achieve... How is your 3D printing of the liberty statue?
You just don't see craftsmanship like this anymore. It's both a work of science as a functionally/mechanically genius set of blueprints, and a work of art in the choices made for ornamentation and negative/positive space ratios, down to the bird's feathers.
How amazing and beautiful. Gone are the days of real craftsman. I wonder who they were made for? I suspect the Russian Tsar as they had an eye for rare beauty which no other Monarch has even come close too
They are clearly an amazing work of art, but I think a lot of their value has to do with the fact that they are antiques. I bet a newly built one would only be worth a few thousand dollars.
Absolutely fascinating. The workmanship and the engineering that went into these unique curio pieces is astounding.
DrewWasMe Imagine trying to find someone these days who could repair them if one stop working.
Just
WOW !
Crafted for only the classiest murder mysteries.
There is one, by Jonathan Gash, a Lovejoy novel entitled "The Judas Pair".
What an amazing creation. The genius of Europe must be admired and puts bright minds in awe.
The most beautiful thing ever created
I always come back to this video, this is simply the most incredible antique ever and one of the most beautiful pieces of engineering I’ve ever seen.
What a treat to see. I’m a former submarine repairman and I love all things mechanical, in particular automatons. Exquisite! Pure folly and a joy to behold.
Gosh what a beautiful description, I could not have said it better
"It's yo boy UA-cam Recommendations, back at it again, with bird guns"
Yep, yt finally getin ai to somewhat work, maybe
OK this cracked me up, thank you- you read my mind haha.
lmao..
Ebonics, when did they become so coool?
Sooo random...🤔
That is amazing. The engineering for that time period just stunning. That is an amazing piece of art even now.
No one makes works of art like this anymore...
Because they can't. Nobody starts apprenticing at 12 anymore
"Interestingly......Here at Christie's............we sold...one individual pistol......over 20 years ago....at auction....in Geneva....it fetched......at the time.....hammer price.... of $1 million dollars." Phew. We got there finally! Way to drag it out man.
Sean 😂 Think about it like this.... Took 7 years just to get the opportunity to type all of that genius there my fine, sir 😂
Sean Even worse is that you can’t off yourself after having to sit through his commentary 😂😂😂😂 It just gives you the bird!! 😂😂😂😂👌👈
i cant stop laughing man. hahahahaha
This dude is the slimiest of used cars salesmen, he will try and tell you a beat up rolex submariner covered in scratches has never been worn. Its happened
Now is the time for us see something so beautiful with absolutely no purpose other than to be enjoyed!
It is sad, because having art in the design was considered normal, where as today, we have boring concrete blocks.
You call 1800s old, u should see the carvings on the timber frame buildings in the uk

Incredible! That something so complex could survive in working condition for long.
simple ,,, it wasnt made in China.
Those pistols was only in hands of rich intellectuals mostly and they don't really own them just to play with...
To me this is 1000X cooler than any painting ever made
I love that guy's voice and those pistols are beyond amazing.
Plot twist: These are real duel Pisols, one fires a real bullet, and the singing one is the one you gave your enemy.
Do you have any other occupation for that fantastically sharp wit of yours other than commenting on UA-cam ?
So Tom and jerry duel
that is called: flipping someone the bird
At first I thought these were actual, working pistols... which would be very cool if they were, but what they actually are is so much more amazing...🤯🤯🤯
I am so fascinated by this masterpiece, that I got this video actually on repeat !!! I can´t stop watching it !!!
*****MESMERIZING*****
The workmanship is awesome , imagine sitting down with the thought of making two of those. , incredible !!!
My lovebirds started singing when they heard the opening. :)
My wife is going to kill me when I tell her theres just one more gun i need, again.
@phục êwê more importantly who holds the purse lol.
Shes going to give you the bird .
Oh my God! I've been after a pair of these since childhood!!! Price is no object! Psych!
Utterly beautiful.
“THIS IS A ROBBERY! PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!”
“AAAH!”

What? Don't shit bullets. Nope, not watching this, also disliking.
If I wanted a singing bird, I wouldn't buy a gun. I'd buy a fucking bird.
it doesnt shewt bullets though
ozipk Then don't forget to destroy everything that you can find in museums, it was mostly commissioned by rich people, made by useless artists who could be helping people, and destroy building with interesting architetural features too, again rich people... I could go on all day.
Absolutely BREATHTAKING!!!!!! Now that is a gun I’d like to own!! I wish all guns had singing birds 🥰🥰🥰💖💖💖💖 i am in utter AWE
1:48 I guess that's how you flipped the bird in the old days...
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣💖💖💖💖
Fun AND practical!
practical for what? it doesn't shoot bullets.
Practical? It would be practical for all potential buyers to instead contribute their excess wealth to the federal education fund. Or their local public schools.
Whoooosh
Absolutely GORGEOUS Pieces of art!!!!
Absolutely amazing engineering. Incredible. This had to take an unfathomable time to create at the time it was created.
But I should add- I could have probably built a few of these in the time I have wasted watching youtube videos.
Truly amazing and wonderful work of art. Priceless!
Making elegance and thing of astounding beauty with a bird’s song out of something so deadly is a fine thing to behold indeed.
They are magnificent works of art
Even it's beak moves.
Just astounding craftmanship.
Still AMAZING to rewatch!!!
Never seen anything like it .....so creative and beautyful.....the pearl inlay is simply divine and I am enchanted!!!
I think a lot of people who watched this video had the same reaction:
"Coooooooooool"
More like , Why?

An amazing example of brilliant micro engineering!
This is a testament to human ingenuity.
Love these!!! Things that were made in the 19th century was exceptional... Real deal legit!!!

laxboss55 😂🤣😂🤣😂 i can’t believe that
Just because its rare doesn't mean its valuable. We can offer you spot price for the gold and diamonds.
What risk? Sounds more like a robbery

What the heck is this? It’s just strangely beautiful.

A masterpiece of 18th century
Wow! Leonardo would be impressed.

I'd love to know the provenance behind this set.
Perfect instruments.
Amazing!!
Is it just me that wishes to buy these things as gifts for others, giving is addictive 😂
Now all we have to do is get a design of it that can be 3D printed.
I doubt a 3d printer is precise enough to pull off the internal mechanisms of the bird.
***** One can always just increase the scale until it meets the capabilities of a 3D printer, perhaps it could work if scaled up to the size of a typical handgun.
I still think that would be too small for the bird mechanism though.... Im thinking it would need to be scaled up to the size of a flare gun.
That's a decent enough size for someone looking to make a cheap replica.
I just love how everyone is at 3D printing... to copy something even the best craftmanship could ever HOPE to achieve...
How is your 3D printing of the liberty statue?
these belong in a museum . .. and perhaps blueprinted
Incredible.

Magnificent.
Now, thats a gun I wish I had in Helmand Province!!!
Do they have one in 500 Smith and Wesson Magnum? Asking for a friend.
I believe that the 500 S&W model has an Albatross that comes out when you pull the trigger.
I needed these to be real guns.
