Ok, so I used Dental floss and it was a pain in the butt as the floss would constantly snap. So what I did was start off with dental floss just to lift the adhesive off slightly, then used an old 9 gauge high E electric guitar string to finish the job off. I wore gloves before I wrapped the string around each of my hands (to prevent the string cutting into my fingers), and was able to apply more force to get the job done quicker (like 2mins for a 5pce kit). With that said, I wouldn't recommend this if you want to save the drum wrap. I didn't care so much about the wrap on my kit as I am preparing to re-wrap it. Enjoy!
Hey Dave! I am in middle school and I play percussion in band. I'm really into piano and mallets, but I want to try and get into drumset more. My uncle has a drum set that he doesn't use anymore, so he decided to lend it to me. The problem is.... I'm not quite sure how to set it up. Can you please make a video of you setting up your drum set? Thanks
Any more drum projects coming up? I actually just bought a set of shells off eBay for $15 and am going to make them into a jungle kit using the ATLAS hardware and call it the "Dudwig" and I'd love to have you involved in some way shape or form
RdavidR i watched your video on making a bass beater using shredded plastic peices so try to make a drum shell out of shredded plastic pieces on video I would love to watch that
You should make a cocktail drum kit video! (sit down style. what clown wants to stand up playing drums). I'm sure you have enough parts lying around to piece one together. Maybe include a review of the $37 10" popcorn snare from amazon.com?
Hey Dave! Great video. I was wondering 1. I assume this is ok to do on vintage drums right? And 2 how can you put it back on? Could you possibly make a video on how to put them back on? Thanks! I love your videos! I've been watching since the 20 dollar drum set and lately I've been rewatching all your videos. I almost dropped my phone in the toilet when I saw this video was out. Keep up the great work!
Cool tip. Ha! never heard of the Quantum series;/ Out of few projects I've done like this,(so far), one of biggest nemesis is removing the badges with the air vent grommets. Or just the grommets themselves...That have been embedded in shell for Years!!! I did "ok" on full rewrap project I took the most time on but would love to see a better way on those pesky grommets...Thanks!
that is possible, I dont have a lathe big enough to do it though. Also, if you were to do it like that the shell is more likely to warp and expand/contact depending on its environment.
@@rdavidr 😂😂😂 thanks dude! I’ve been watching your videos for years and it’s from watching your stuff that I knew to do most of the stuff I did to build that drum, so thanks for the videos, my dude! Keep up the great work!
it's to re-finish the drum (paint or new wrap)... i don't really know anybody who take the their drum badges off just for fun, it's usually part of a re-furbishing job
Yeah man what’s up with the tape under the Quantum??? Let us know where they hot, stolen, forcefully removed from someone’s possession. No , really what’s up we won’t snitch 🤫
Make a drum set out of badges.
BRO BEST IDEA
No balls...
Worked like a charm with my old beat up Pearl Export, but boy did I fuck up my fingers :D
Thanks for the tip!
If you add a carefully used heat gun, or hair dryer to this equation it's like stealing butter from a baby.
Dude - priceless/timeless tut! Many thanks

Why did you cover the serial number on the badge?
what serial number....
rdavidr what would you say your favourite drum kit is
rdavidr There was some tape on the badge covering something
rdavidr I assumed the tape in the badge was covering a serial number....
I still want to know why he taped that...

Cool trick... would not have thought of that.
now if only it would work on those pesty K logos...
Simple. Elegant. Brilliant.
I haven't tried but a Pearl World Series has them with just adhesive, would it need the same treatment ?
Absolutely love your channel.
Saul
Amazing tip from an amazing channel. :D
hey there what is your favorite drum brand?
Hi Rdavidr L, can you make a Ultimate drum kit using all pieces you have?
RdavidR i watched your video on making a bass beater using shredded plastic peices so try to make a drum shell out of shredded plastic pieces on video I would love to watch that
Thank you. Just finished my whole set. 11 drums in all. My fingers hurt. Ues ballpoint pens as handles if it hurts too bad.
Clever! Dental floss can cut bone also... Just in case you need to know that.
Great video! Maybe try tying a few small knots in the floss to speed up the process?
Very useful tip, thank you!
Sweet! Nice beat there. Reminds me of some MF Doom. Dig how the hi hats have that in between feel there
Please make some more videos of how You produce/record Your music ^^
Was that a shell to an early mapex marching snare?
And what if you have nails instead of screws?
Why did you covered the serial number on the badge with tape??

Hey dave! Are you planning on doing a new weird drum parts video_
Hey Dave! Great video. I was wondering 1. I assume this is ok to do on vintage drums right? And 2 how can you put it back on? Could you possibly make a video on how to put them back on? Thanks! Sorry meant to ask what can you use as an adhesive when you put it back on many for a porthole kind
you can probably get away with spray adhesive. some thin carpet tape would also work. but if you want it to be permanent you can use contact cement.
Thanks man!
what kind of byzance is your ride cymbal??
That, sir, is genius.
Video Suggestion: How to keep ball/socket tom holders from slipping
Do one on the badges with the rivet things on them plssssss I always knacker the teeth when trying to bend them back
Thanks good video 😀
make that DTS one touch tuning system looks easy enough??
Cool tip. Ha! never heard of the Quantum series;/

Quantum is a marching drums series
makes sense. thanks
super clever
thanks for this
Question.....where do you buy baby rags? I wanna do this but I only have regular sized rags.
Mine were imported from Malaysia. But yeah regular sized rags wont work, so youre shit outta luck
Yo rdavidr you should try casting a cymbal. Would make for an interesting series of vids... Step 1 - build a forge :D
why did you kept the serial # covered with tape?
How many takes for the throwing of the screws in the dish thing? :D
ChaosPotato the dish thing was probably magnetic lol
Oh no! The cheating! I can't take it
Why did you tape up the serial number? I think that's taking "privacy" to ad absurdum :) Cool video, though.
Can you show us how you would remove a badge on that starclassic?
take the air vent off first then do the same process
rdavidr does it just pull out?
Has anyone done this with super thin Pearl export badges?
I used goof off graffiti removers and the laquer got messed up. Removed the lawyer and some paint. Please help
Have you removed a gretsch stop sign badge before? If so, do you have a trick for it?
how about building a drum set out of one whole tree trunk so the shells are just one piece without any glued parts?
that is possible, I dont have a lathe big enough to do it though. Also, if you were to do it like that the shell is more likely to warp and expand/contact depending on its environment.
It doesn't work for those old pearl logos that are on with adhesive(metal shell)
Hey dude, hope you don’t mind. I mentioned your video in my recent drum build video cuz I fucked up and removed a drum badge wrong.
the horror 😩cool drum tho😎
@@rdavidr 😂😂😂 thanks dude! I’ve been watching your videos for years and it’s from watching your stuff that I knew to do most of the stuff I did to build that drum, so thanks for the videos, my dude! Keep up the great work!
if you ever have trouble getting adhesive off a rag and a small amount of lighter fluid will take it off really quickly.
Why did you tape the serial number over? Is there any special reason?
whoa
Hey david, i'm from the Netherlands and i would like to buy one of your stickers. Can you make that pouseble :p
Im somewhat new to drumming so why do people remove the badges?
ResmaDnB UK Its a personal taste ;)
it's to re-finish the drum (paint or new wrap)... i don't really know anybody who take the their drum badges off just for fun, it's usually part of a re-furbishing job
Hi rdavidr

Hey everyone it's your other drum guy Eli here.
Huh. I was kinda expecting you would use a heat gun. Who'd knew dental floss would be that helpful!
it works better if you heat it up with a hair dryer
I debadged my car with floss😉
same here
C'mon man, i wanna see the stave snare drum
A baby rag 😆
Yeah man what’s up with the tape under the Quantum??? Let us know where they hot, stolen, forcefully removed from someone’s possession. No , really what’s up we won’t snitch 🤫
Finger nails... again.
Question? Whats up with that awful background music?
your taste in music is whats up I guess.
Hey everyone it's your other drum guy Eli here.
