      Hi Nap Freedom 215, yes, I was doing that method with my conditioner too. It’s great that we can achieve the results we desire with the rice water, I don’t mind which way I apply it, as long as it helps my hair to grow healthy and retain length 😁
      How long have you been doing the rice water rinses?
      Thanks for commenting and watching my video 🤗🤗

      Nap Freedom215 I was thinking about doing the same thing! I noticed doing the rice rinse was too much for my hair. So I have been thinking of ways to incorporate it into my hair regime because my hair did feel stronger.

    i just made something similar with fermented rice, i accidentally bought parboiled rice while making rice water the rice soaked the water up like i boiled it...it made A LOT, so I might be using it as a hair mask, face, and body scrub cause why not 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️

      Hey D J, thank you so much for your encouragement, I really appreciate it 😘
      The thing is we’re not seeing enough on UA-cam about how dry the rice can make your hair or how we should properly balance with moisture to combat the dryness.
      Yes do try it and let me know what you end up adding in your rice water mask.

    Hey Mel, just wanted to let you know that I have been using your hair mask for the past 2 weeks (once per week) I had to change your recipe slightly....more the amount of ingredients as opposed to what was used...(I did add some glycerine ) ..but I must say I prefer the deep condition to the rinse. I have definitely noticed a change in my hair as it feels way more smoother.. (my hair is a lot more coarser than yours) .I didn't have to follow up with moisture deep conditioner afterwards ....I just made sure to apply my leave in and seal it really well....I will keep an eye on the progress my hair....brilliant idea!!!

    Hi Mel, I have made your rice mask and ended up with 2 jars after adding a few of my own essential oils. I must admit it has made the smell rather yum! (Definitely not roast potatoes) I have frozen the jars as you recommended and defrosted, then heated half to use my 2nd application today, which left me with 1/2 a jar still. My question is, if I leave it in the fridge, how long can it last as I only use the mask twice a month so far. By the way, I must say that I have sooo much less hair fall!! Not to sure about the hair growth yet. Will keep you posted though.
    Thank you for your information

    • @MelsWorldMelanieThompson
      @MelsWorldMelanieThompson  5 років тому

      Hi Veronique, oh I’m so glad you’re getting great results from this rice conditioning mask 😁
      To answer your question, I would definitely place the mask in smaller containers so that you only defrost the amount you’ll be using. Also, I’m guessing that the mask can be refrigerated for about 7 days before it goes off or forms bacteria (because it has water in it).
      Yes, please do updated me because I love keeping updated with everyone’s hair progress. Thank you so much for watching my video 🤗🤗

    I dont rinse out the rice water. I make my rice water with rosemary and peppermint tea bags lemon juice then I make an oil...I use my spray like a leave in spray then seal it with my homemade oil. I first made a black pepper, rosemary ,shea butter olive oil. And I just remade my oil similar to your mask. Blended the rice with the mentioned spices above. Now my oil/rice I blended is thick like that but not as mixed my blender sucks🤣 so I let the oil sit in the rice and let it ferment with the rice and I add the oil off the rice to my lil bottle as it runs out.

    Hi Mel, Love watching your videos. They can be a bit long but You are entertaining and very informative.
    I would like to try the rice hair mask but would not have one of the ingredient, Mel’s butter me up. I am in 🇨🇦 and although I would love to support my sister, it would be a bit expensive, so at the risk of promoting another product/brand, what can you recommend in stead of the Mel’s butter me up?
    Thank you and I love love love love love your videos 👌🤗

      Hi Yvette, glad you enjoy my videos - I appreciate your support 😘
      This rice conditioning mask is sooooo good, I must put this in my routine again!
      As for the recommendation, I can only suggest a butter of your choice that you know your hair responds well too eg : coco, mango or even Shea butter.
      Hope that’s helpful! Thanks so much for watching my video 🤗🤗

    Ohhh 😮 my goodness I cannot follow recipes... I boiled my onions and rice to create this mask... my scalp needs the healing of those onions... and I added Ayurvedic oils mahabhringaraj oil, coconut oil, grapeseed oil, my hair growth oil that’s inspired by Curly Proverbz, and my own hair butter cream.
    I can’t thank you enough for the mask idea. Brilliant 💕

    Mel thank you for sharing this amazing recipe. I love the rice water rinse method as it has helped me to regrow my hair really quickly but like you my hair is very dry after even after the deep conditioning process. I have even deep conditioned over night which was an improvement but not always. What do you do on wash day to combat the dryness after the rice water rinse. Oh have you tried fenugreek seeds with rice water I have just started using this Will let you know my results. Thanks 🙏🏽 😘

      Your welcome queen ♥️. And yes. I also do a vinegar rinse like 2 times a month. And it leaves my hair sooo beautiful. Shiny and makes my curls pop. I just did the rice water rinse for the first time today. So I can’t wait to see what it does for my hair. My husband watched me do it. And I had him do a length check for my hair. But about a year ago I damaged my hair dying it and straightening it all the time. So it’s been a year I’ve been natural since the day my husband and I got married in July 2017. So now my hair looks sooo beautiful and is getting so long. I did a little chop 2 months ago because I left the damaged hair on my head for a while, because I wanted my hair to be a little longer before I cut it. So now it looks sooo healthy and great and my husband keeps telling me how much it Came a long way and how long and healthy it is. I just had my son this July so my hair was shedding until I started the vinegar rinse and that made my hair super strong. Now all I’m waiting for is it to get even longer. I can’t wait. I want it to reach the middle of my back and then I’ll be satisfied. My curls have some back and my hair is just like it was and pure like it was when I was a child. I’m soo satisfied with the results of my vinegar wash. I only have to wash my hair about two times a month because I hair doesn’t get dirty really and I grab up so my hair is always covered. But thanks for the videos. I just came across your videos today. Love them and your funny. Just subscribed and will continue to watch your videos. Sorry for the long speech. Lol

    Love the method.Would cooking the rice kill the nutrition normally provided by the fermentation?

    • @MelsWorldMelanieThompson
      @MelsWorldMelanieThompson  5 років тому +4

      Hi Misha, It’s a good point you’re raising however, im pretty sure it doesn’t kill the nutrients because I make sure the rice is boiled mushy.
      Studies have shown me that cooking the rice with enough water diffuses nutrients into the grain and a protective gelatinised starch coating is formed on the grain preventing leaching, or what is known as loss of nutrients.
      So as long as the rice is boiled with enough water it will have the same beneficial effect.

    Hey Mel Hey! Okay I keep seeing it all over UA-cam, Rice Water Rinses...boiled and non-boiled. I like you're Recipe best! I gotta buckle down and pay the $25 for some Manuka honey from my health food store, (I'm cheap organic honey already costs me $8-10) but I keep hearing how Good it is for the skin as well and I know cuz honey healed my severely chapped n busted lips in 1 days application when I had a cold so I need to try the Manuka. But Yess it is like an hot-oil trmt and Water Rinse, okay now I gotta go ahead and Try it, no more procrastination! Your hair and skin is looking so Dewy GF, I must say. Great video!

      Yes, save that coin for the Premium Manuka Honey because it’s the best (and I’m so impressed with your “chapped and busted lip” testimony 👏🏽👏🏽 Actually, I have a family member who put manuka honey on her face as an antiseptic during her cycle (and she has Flawless skin).
      Let me know how you get on with the rice water mask/rinsing etc and don’t forget to monitor your hair length for your own record.

      Hi Drippy Queen, so glad that you’re trying this method. I wash it out because it’s a thick white consistency. Probably better to treat it as a mask - where you can wash/rinse it off after every application.
      However, if your hair is thriving from leaving it on all week, then who am I to tell you what to do. So I guess you should make a decision based on what your hair is coping with 😊

      Hi Abigail, that’s a long time to be fermenting your rice water😆 You’re the only who can be the judge to whether it’s still ok to use. But just bare in mind that you don’t want anything on your scalp that may potentially leave any fungal conditions on your scalp. But again, you can make that decision.
