Thanks for watching.
I’m glad you switched to voiceover videos. This was still very interesting, but the voiceover adds a nice level of immersion for the viewer.
Tip: At the end of the video, play music from the 40's and sounds of airplanes and weapons.
Sounds of weapons and aeroplanes . . . might be a bit corny 😂
I read "Thunderbolt," by Robert S. Johnson, in late '71 or early '72, when I was in elementary school. Since then it has been my favorite aircraft. I think I've built about a half-dozen of them in the years since, in scales from 1:72 through 1:18, and larger flying models. I still don't have one on the shelf. There's something wrong with that, I think. You did a beautiful job on this one!
I came back to watch your first post after watching the Swordfish build. I'm pleased you talk to us now! Very pleased you've started the shop. You have re-kindled a fire in me, I'm going to start building again - not since I was 14 with an Airfix kit and enamel paints. Thank you.
Thank you Trev.
Incredible. The film industry must be screaming out for people as talented as you to build their models etc.
They would if actually cared, but every studio nowadays is in love with green screens and CGI.
Excellent build and enjoy the format; no talking, the right amount of comments and good editing. I have been building planes for many years now but when I see a video from I can learn something , I’m an immediate fan. Got a subscriber from me. Keep up the good work ( hope you like modern jets).
Thanks Pablo. I've just added the new tool Academy 1/72 F-14A to the pile, so it will be up some time in the near future!
Pablo just wrote everything I'd like to, so I borrow his word!! Fantastic job, sir! I hope to see many more of your builds soon!! Congrats!!!
@Ross Anderson Hi. Thanks for the comment. It's a Bartsharp SB04. It's a really good size and the extraction power and lighting are really good. Fan speed is adjustable! 👍
I'm going to need to learn how to use an airbrush. You make painting easy and painless. Nice work.
I saw a P-47D at the Air Zoo in Kalamazoo Michigan yesterday. Watching this video is making me want to order the Tamiya kit and built it to match the one that was on display.
Very nice, didnt come here to watch the full vid but stayed the whole time
Well done! I just finished the P-47M
Scale Model shed you are good at building aircraft models and airbrush painting you are artists that is awesome my friend
The only thing that bothered me was that it can be made to look so easy and I know how hard it really is. Nice work!
Beautiful work. I need to start working on models again. Haven’t built one in years.
Very cool build! Love the results. Just enough chipping and weathering. Thanks for sharing. Happy days and model on! 😎🇨🇦
Thank you for your comments and to all subscribers. I'm looking forward to getting my next build up asap!
Just another home run kit from Tamiya. Nice job.
Sure!!! But the tamiya 1/32 p-51 is the home RUN also!
Ohhhh, you gotta take your hat off to these amazing skills. Another first rate build
Высший уровень, профессионально, творчески и это очень хорошая мотивация для меня!!! 👍👍👍👍
You are an artist! I made very basic models as a kid, and you blew me away with your patience, skill, and knowledge! It was a pleasure watching you work! Or can you even call it work?!?!? ; )
Thank you. Patience is the key. I'm not a fast builder and I pretty much accept a model is going to take me nearly a month to build.
Dude, you have to, have realize by now...ooohhh by the way this is my 3rd time through this build!!!
you have opened up a sleeping giant! So many of us have wanted this! Needed this!
Thanks again dude! We really appreciate it!
Great build. Good to see that you include your mistakes and thoughts during the build sequence. Fantastic looking model 👍
I loved the bag throw at the start!! 😂 superb video and skills.
Great demonstration and nice video too. You sure do have a big paint chest there. Well done
Great build. All the classics get represented but I'm wanting some of the more uncommon planes. A Curtiss-Wright Ascender would be cool.
That would be an interesting subject!
Excellent build, I use the AK Extreme metals and they are excellent. Some report that its fragile, but after a day or two I find the stuff is rock solid and never had it rub off on me.
Let this be a warning: Wiping down with alcohol is an important step. Except in my case, I primed with Mr Color Black and then left the primed plane in the garage for a few days before spraying the aluminum. This ruined the plane because the primed surface had something on it - probably pollen. I am starting a fresh kit this week as a result. Holding the fuselage with a paintbrush is also a great move, since it means you can paint both the topside and the underside in one session. Quality control during priming and aluminum coats is critical. Great video!
Scale Model shed your p-47D Thunderbolt aircraft model kit is awesome my friend
Your builds are amazing. Absolutely stunning detail, presentation, craftsmanship, and love. I’m hooked!
I love building the Tamiya models because the kits are very precise and molded so well. Unfortunately I can’t do 1/48 because of my eyes. Too small. I do the 1/32 kits.I’ve done the Mustang, Corsair, and zero kits. You did a good job on that Jug.
First the model is well chosen, I love the P-47. Very nice work, well filmed and broken down for beginners. Thank you
Magnifique ! Bravo ! Technique bluffante !!!
You did a great job! Looks fantastic. Loved the chipping. Watching you post shade all I could think of was “wow he’s got a steady hand”.
Hell ya P-40 taking out those train bridges!!, fantastic build just looks the part.
Do another with 60lb rockets taking on the 12th ss panzer.
Love your clips. I also respected you're mistake and showing it. A great series.
Amazing video. Some new painting and building techniques I’ve never seen before 👌🏻. I love the fact you keep in the mistakes you made along the building process... it makes me optimistic that I could eventually make a model as fine as this 😂
Fantastic! Absolutely stupendous. This is only the second video I've watched of you creating what can only be described as art. Move along folks. Nothing to see here but beauty.
You are a true craftsman and artist..love your work and attention to detail.
Love that fliying sherman
You are so talented brother🙏🙏🙏
Great Building skills
Nicely done. I’m just getting back into scale models. Been dabbling in n scale model railroading and it’s made me miss all my aircraft and tank models. Hmmm 🤔, 122 likes and one thumbs down. That person probably doesn’t build anything. Cheers 🍻

Well, a Tamiya kit with a highly skilful modeller! How better a viewing experience can one expect? At each individual step you take, you show great deftness of movement and keen acumen of your subject matter.
I just watched Scale-a-ton assemble, paint, and weather the Tamiya 1:48th-scale model kit of the early Republic P-47D Thunderbolt “Razorback” USAAF Fighter. Similarly, Mach Models gave us his build video of Tamiya’s 1:48th-scale kit of the late-war Republic P-47M Thunderbolt USAAF Fighter. Though my actual preference is (well, would be) for 1:32nd- and 1:24th-scale kits (the pricing of them would be an insurmountably steep impediment for me; the latter category also has a rather scant few offerings of any true quality and value, with some quite outdated, as well), I greatly enjoy observing a top-quality Tamiya-made replica in progress, especially if in the (gloved) hands of one of far better ability and experience than I; here have I found three or more!
Beautiful job! Looks like a fun kit!
Simply stunning 👏👏👏
OUTSTANDING, really like the bomb casting details, brilliant.
Beautiful result.
Never bothered with a P-51 build but there's something aqbout the "Jug" that draws me to it.
Actually most radial-engined WW2 palnes look very appealing to me.
You make it look so easy. Thanks for sharing your talent.
Amazing work. Meanwhile, ten year old me had one tube of glue, a few bottles of Testor's paint and one brush. Lol. like rubbing two sticks together to get fire.
Nice. I now know how to do the "chipping" to give it the realistic aircraft look. Thanks
I'm 70 years old and of course built models when I was a kid in the 1950's and 60's. I came across an online catalog of model kits recently and I was SHOCKED to see the price's for some of these kits. No wonder kid's don't build model's any more.
Wow...you make it look easy! Great job!
A great format i like the fact you put up what products you use it helps new modellers no end keep up the great work and looking forward to the next video.Your painter at work Terry sent me the link 👍
Hi Martin, yes he said he showed you! Thanks for your comments, next video wont be long!
Beautiful techniques, and a wonderful result. Cheers!
Thanks for showing your mistakes as well as the good stuff. Well done.
The finish/weathering on that model is really well executed, an inspiration, thanks..
I thought it was a bit exaggerated for my taste. I like to make it a little more "new" as if they weren't so shabby lol
oh interesting - there's a solution that changes the index of refraction on the plastic to make it more glass like? ha. man, there's something for everything!
very cool build!
Truly fantastic build. Very informative comments throughout. Subscribed.
Fine build thanks for sharing ❤
Just brilliant. Thank you so much for showing.
Very nicely done. Very fun to watch. That is some very nice metallic paint there.
WoW! I wish I had half your skill! Awsome built and painted man!
Beautiful model!
I really like how you approached the NMF and weathering; very informative. An appealing alternative to Alclad2...
You 👍 modelist!
Sorry, i from Russia
Its a very nice build and I enjoyed watching. Two comments, 1 Radial Engines always leak oil... 2 Most invasion stripes were painted by hand with brushes so sharp lines were rare in them.
Beautiful...exquisite modeling all through the process. I’ve got two bubble tops waiting to be built. Really loved the inspiring video!
Absolument magnifique !!!!!!
Lovely job, Just need to add the rubber strip colour at the bottom of the sliding canopy there is even a panel line on the canopy to guide you.
Scale Model shed your utube videos are awesome my friend
I discovered your channel today, through your build of the Tamiya P-38. Excellent videos. And, of course, subscribed. Thank you.
Excellent, Looks great, I built mine with the checkered nose.
Hi Greg another great build another one on my bucket list really great colours&weathering job enjoy the Christmas holiday as you said some chill time thankyou for2021 builds enjoy stay safe jon
This thing looks like it’s pilot had been having some fun at the rail yards.
Nice job.
A work of art!
Followed you here from instagram. Beautiful build. I may need to add a thunderbolt to my stash now!
Thanks Dan. Do it, its a pleasure to build!
Lovely build, I'll have to dig mine out of the stash this year but mark it up in RAF SEAC markings, thanks for the kick up the arse to give me the mojo again!
Nice job. A little chipping on the prop or repaired canon/bullet holes to indicate why it has a new prop. Every warbird has a story, that's why they are personalized with nose art and driver and RIO name as applicable. I like your presentation, thanks.
Superb job
dude love what u did w/ the kit. it's awesome!
What a fun little video was this bloody fantastic effort from the skill of the video format itself to the kit & how you've shown yourself you doing the build & the skill you have to do it how on earth you don't have more followers hope that goes up with time take care now won't you
Thank you Oliver. I'm not the fastest builder as for me, the hobby is restricted to evenings. But my next video should be up in a week or so. Thanks for subscribing. Andy SMS.
@@ScaleModelShed you are very welcome fella you can't rush a model if your doing it correctly most my kits take forever
Awsome build 😲
Really really awesome
Great model - love that kit.
Hey I don't know if your going to make any models that have pure alumium paint jobs, but have how ever tried using alclads lacquer metal paints? Theres many different shades of which would have made this even more realistic and would compliment that mr surfacer 1500 covered w/ the clear coat tecnique even more. This video inspired me to make a video on my second channel of me puting a fictional paint job on a bf 109 g-6 from Tamiya in 1/48 scale w/ american paint job/decals and a polished alumium fuselage instead of fully painted one. Other than that I really enjoy your work and hope nothing more than for you to have a sucessful modeling carrer!
excellent work
Excelente montagem, jeito simples de executar a montagem e com efeitos incríveis. Parabéns, lindo modelo.
Very nice build indeed! 👍🏼
Personally I don’t dip my canopies because if you check out period photos of operational warbirds with high flying hours the canopies are never crystal clear and high gloss. They’re scratched, sometimes hazy, and abraded by the ravages of constant handling and flight.
Good point! There is an argument for spending quite a bit of time weathering the canopy glass as well as the rest of the model. Thanks for the comment.
Very nice job on this. It looks fantastic!

This comment is not a commonplace discussion of a build video. First, PLASMO genuinely is a master modeller of the highest order. Moreover, my report to all you modellers addresses what is the most extraordinary, new kit in 1:48th-scale I have seen: MiniArt’s later Republic P-47D Thunderbolt Teardrop Canopy” USAAF Fighter. The channeller from the start (0:51-0:54; then at 1:16, and again round 2:38) repeatedly demonstrates that the cockpit sidewalls have astounding detailing, establishing that the kit actually exceeds in fineness and accuracy that of comparable Tamiya aircraft models in this scale!
At 5:13, he begins cutting away part of the right fuselage forward of the cockpit (then, I infer, the corresponding section of the left half), explaining that he “want[s] to design and make minor improvements to the engine section”. This we see later.
At round 7:00, he explains some difficulty making with uniform consistency a number of small, scratch-built parts for the P&W R-2800 engine exactly the same, so he “found [it] easier to design them in 3D, and print them,” telling his viewers “the link to the printable file is in the video description.”
At 11:28, he explains that “an interesting section is behind the engine; however, it is not included in the kit. So, I decided to draw and create a new detail kit. I used blender free editor, because I like how complex it is, and how you can modify it with the add-ons. The detail kit contains twenty-one parts, designed for the best printing result, and comfortable painting. Making the detail kit took me a few weeks. . . . The design, or a whole printed kit” [he means an entire detail set, to fill in the space in the fuselage forward of the cockpit (as he at 5:22 had explained) and aft of the engine] “is available for my patreons, or on Call 3D [sic; I regret my uncertainty as to exactly what he said in the last two words]. “The links are on my video description.”
At 11:34 to 14:30, he visually presents in this extended segment his working with the parts of the new detail/conversion set that he designed for this new P-47D Thunderbolt kit, as he cuts them from their support structure, paints them for use, installs them into place, etc. I am an excellent writer-and an aspiring novelist, essayist, etc.-though any effort to describe these 3D reproductions that I might attempt here simply could not begin to be adequate! You now reading my words on your viewscreen simply have to see them for yourself! At 13:06, he tells us he also has “available a bonus video with a more detailed construction tutorial, which helps you assemble and paint this kit.”
Good build...
Awesome, friend!
Pure quality....
Another awesome model keep them coming.
Nice chipping paint effect !
love the build and the finnished model but the overlapping music gave me ptsd
Thank you for letting me know, I'll have a look at this.
@@ScaleModelShed Same here, great build but have to stop watching because the music is painful
@@shealey9763 Just mute....
I just mute and listen to ELO.
Fantastic Jug and video!
Excellent work!
Great work 🥰
