Yes holy Paladin does feel so good. I’ve been maining Resto Druid this xpac, but I have quit and went back to my holy Paladin. Something about their toolkit, like the things you said just brings me back each expansion
Exactly, Rife. Holy paladin has the perfect tool set right now for M+. Beacon of virtue alone is such a good ability. I think we're only getting better come 10.0.7 so I'm excited!
For some reason, I've just had a hard time gelling with the current iteration of Holy Paladin (I really liked it in BfA), but watching your gameplay of it really makes me want to try it again.
I've been playing a lot of Resto Shaman lately and have been having a lot of fun with it. I feel like I never don't have something I can use for party wide group damage because the sheer amount of cooldowns RSham has available to them. Thinking of a fight like Hyrja, I usually start the first storm by prepping Riptides with Primordial Wave for a big cleave Healing Wave then top up with Chain Heal. On the second storm, I can drop Healing Tide and top up with Chain Heal or Healing Surge on lower health allies. On the third storm (if there is one), I have Ascension + cleave Healing Wave with PrimWave. That's not counting for Spirit Link or Ancestral Guidance with Stormkeeper. All the while, I'm still providing a sizeable amount of damage in packs and decent ST on bosses. The only thing that I feel is lacking on RSham compared to HPal is tank externals. It feels nice having the ~40% DR from Sac on a 1 minute cooldown and even Aura Mastery if things get hairy. On RSham, if there's a lot of tank damage all I can do is pump heals, maybe drop an SLT, and help the tank kite by dropping Cap totem and Earthbind.
Nail on the head, man. Mistweaver has been my focus so I mostly speak to that, and will say I agree that 10.0.7 seems to be patching up a lot of gaps for healers in this department although I can't speak to holy priest. Need to talk to a guildie who plays one and get their input. I don't mind the healers having various levels of comfort or strength in AoE rotational throughput so long as that comfort is traded elsewhere, for instance, I feel that single target healing on mistweaver, particularly caster build, is super comfortable and mana efficient and can be sustained even through tough pulls without the use of CDs. The important thing is that all healers can do this AoE healing and do it well, and do it reliably. As you said, if you have to blow a CD on a mistake and you don't have it for the boss AoE you planned it for, that can just be so punishing to some healers more than others. I think mistweaver is good where it's at especially in 10.0.7, however, I feel Vivify is being held up too much by the tier set bonus and that needs to be monitored closely when we lose it if there's nothing to prop it up next tier. Not the end of the world with Tear of Morning and Enveloping Mists, but Vivify has long since been our bread and butter AoE rotational healing with good setup of Renewing Mists and it still feels a bit weak even after all the buffs it's received. Overall, Mistweaver feeling excellent. Not as good as some others, still, but for the first time in years I'm quite pleased with it, and would love to see some creativity with specs that are now performing numerically quite well but could use some "spice". Might be poorly thought out, but things like making Chi Burst a 1min CD that does really awesome damage and healing and is more of a kamehameha than hadokuen, or turning it into an empowered ability where you can choose it's strength in exchange for cooldown, or maybe a rank 1 does a knock up but a fully charged Chi Burst just does way more throughput. Or maybe casting Expel Harm while channeling Soothing Mists works similar to Death Strike and heals a % of damage recently taken, or maybe allowing it to be cast preemptively on a target to increase their Dodge or Parry chance for a couple of seconds. I don't know, just something to take our existing kit and add some neat functionality, because they've done a great job with everything else tuning wise, I feel, and now I want to see some more creativity.
Couldn't agree more. I really looking forward to SG hitting 5 targets in 10.0.7 because I think MW will finally have that reliable groupwide heal button available which shores up a lot of minor issues the spec has currently. I also think Rsham will be seriously competitive if the 10.0.7 changes buff Chain Heal enough to give them strong rotational AoE throughput along with Earth Shield helping their tank healing.
It is really funny to hear this about resto shamans. Because we have a very good group heal if needed. And, honestly, you simply cannot talk about any healer without considering its cooldowns. Basically, they are essential and in high keys you use them constantly. But yeah, you have a Primordial wave with a 30 secs cooldown, which heals absurd amount (but require a slight preparation), if you dont have time to spread riptide you always can press one of your millions 2-3 mins CDs, and every single of them is great (healing tide totem got insane buff in 10.0.5, it is a great and viable option to heal party, ascendance always was an awesome cooldown, spirit link is simply god-tier CD and ancestral guidance has lower cooldown and can be used both offensively and defensively). The ONLY thing we lack is tank DR, but my experience in 20+ keys is that almost all tanks are mainly self-sustainable and this is not that big of a problem as it was in previous addons. And, on top of that, after the last patch we have one of the best damages out of any healer specs. Plus playing shaman on a good level is insanely satisfactory. You can stun, interrupt, knock up, slow, purge (and you can do much more if talented). Besides shaman I played evoker and druid on lower levels, and druid is better simply because they can prepare to any situation, and if something goes wrong - boom, they press strong ability with low cd. And evoker is great, in my opinion, only because it is overtuned in terms of numbers. Low cooldowns for super strong abilities - yeah, give me more. In the end - state of shamans right now is one of the best ever. And I believe that after 10.0.7 changes we would be able to fight with druid for the second spot. P.S. And I forgot about healing string totem. 60%+ uptime, great heal, plus synergies with tier set. Awesome!
I don't consider Pwave to be good group healing. Shamans press it every 45s to get 60% of 350% sp heal on all targets with Riptide. Let's assume you have Riptide on the whole party and press Healing Wave after Pwave; you're only healing each target for 210% spell power. Disc Priests heal the whole party or double that with zero setup required every 15 seconds. Resto Shamans simply do not compare imo. I agree that the Earth Shield change coming in 10.0.7 will be really nice and help tank healing and also agree that 10.0.5 HTT has helped a lot because Rshams now have AG, HTT and Ascendance to rotate for group healing. I think that's why Rsham is objectively good and very competitive with other healers; their CD's are great and many but they don't have the rotational healing some other specs have.
Going only with the tooltip spellpower feels somewhat wrong here. RSham has so many multipliers right now that a propper setup can result in insane numbers. Thats why they are cutting down on it in 10.0.7. You likely not get the full list of buffs even once in a real situation but somethings always up. So here is what imcreases PWave Healing: There is 20% on targets with riptide or rain from Deluge, 20% on Earth Shield targets (you + tank or squishy dps), 20% from MotE, 15% from using Flame Shock, 25% after using HST/CBT, 50% from undulation and I think 18% from the 2 points under PWave. Crits from the spread Healing Wave do 20% on someone else from the talent you take to get Ascend and then all this healing can go into CBT. Also I don't feel like there is a large problem with the Chain Heal jump distance. The meta helps and in nearly all cases of heavy aoe healing requirements you are stacked anyways. Tempest can be rough though in my experience. And if your range players are standing extremely far out on trash: be halfway between them and most importantly: educate them to stand a bit closer. It's probably the same for Evoker I guess.
The only downside of it, is having to wait at least 1hr to get a highkey going... Main reason why I dropped holy.. I don't have 1hr to get a key going (higher than 22) just because people want meta.
Even though i havent played wow in over a month i still love perspectives like this, if/when i come back i'm putting down hpriest for a while and jumping back on another healer to see if i can find that perfect midpoint between pugging ease and a comfy kit
So I find that my hpala deals well with high bursting stacks in particular, I.e if I have virtue available it feels incredibly fun to heal those crazy aoe moments
I main holy pal and rdruid and recently swapped to evoker. I pug 99% and everywhere I hear that evoker is op. I agree on how much healing he can do.. easily... BUT there is a BUT. I struggle to keep ppl alive when spirtbloom and Brest are on CD and ppl still don't give a damn about mechanics.. on the top of that when I'm low on essences I always wish I had paladin tools in hand, or resto. On the other hand when everything is on CD with pal it's hard to keep ppl alive but it rarely happens that I have to use it all in one fight. I believe it's all matter of preference.
It's the playstyle tho to some regards. Paladins are a reactive healer, damage happens we smash it back up. The reason other healers don't feel as stressful is because you can prep for damage you know is coming by putting hots etc out ready. Crusader holy pala with virtue is awesome. There's no downtime if you don't panic and pop everything and stagger out divine toll, virtue, crusader plus free procs of crusader. The rework to it was a massive improvement.
Spot on as usual. i feel mistweaver got way better with sheiluns. the 10.0.7 buffs will help aswell but not in the rotational aoe deptartment. when i play my undergeared druid i always think damn this is so easy and i have so much shit to press. I am thinking about picking up another healer. I always played druid since vanilla and monk since mop. disc seems to be right up my alley.

Last week there was the dreaded grievous+bursting m+ week. No other healer can deal with those two affixes in a more satisfying way than H pally, it felt amazing
Hey Rife! You and I have seen some similar growth lately, and I love your channel! I have a few ideas for some collabs, and wanted to see if you'd be down to hear about them and give them a shot?
Havent started this, but I wanna say., I main a Hpally. And my biggest wish list is concercration to do more healing when ppl are in it. And for my 30% mastery to see like it does things, when I'm in melee. I don't have the Vers to try avenging crusader just yet. So I'm stuck to melee healing with holy shocks and glimmer. Now. let me press play!!
I've mained Disc for the first time this xpac. Its what I want from it. My only issue is the lack of utility or suitability within pugs. Since I'm pugging like 85% it has me thinking about switching next season. Pally is what I'm considering.
Pally dose feel good until you come to a explosive week then it feels so bad if your pug just wants you to hit bombs Feel like some spec changes to holy would be nice. Be nice to have exorcism as a button, and have our holy power be meaning full. Just pressing lod didn’t feel good any more. Only press it to make wod bigger. I love holy pally but it stale at the moment
Well I mean most of the other classes have at least one button range attack that’s not on a 15 sec cd, like Evoker can spam azure strike..... Holy pally are sometimes faced with do I holy shock the explosive or heal with it....doesn’t feel good. exorcism coming back would help that a lot on like a 12 sec cd like shaman fire shock
Really curious if the changes from the recent patches have changed your opinions on what healers have this "gear" and which don't. Especially considering Shaman and Monk were changed a bit.
I tried playing Mistweaver and I just couldn't get it to work as a Fistweaver because I think the Comp needs to be nearly all melee since you're trying to get your mists to bounce. I could never get the ranged DPS to move in closer. I also never felt that I had enough throughput in the dungeons either Hyrja or Storm Elemental in Nokhud was always a disaster. I tried out Disc, but it's completely different than in Shadowlands I think, but I've thought about trying out Paladin. I've been main tanking, but love to play Healer, but have yet to find a Healer I love playing.
ive been playing some resto shaman on lower keys and must say that it is ok to play but lacks some serious tank healing cd's so i feel like i am dependant on a good self sustaining tank, tho 10.0.7 will give§ earth shield a DR wich will make it fairly better
I am very excited for the Earth Shield change. It was something I asked for in another video so I can't wait to play it in 10.0.7 and hope it fixes the issue you mentioned cos I feel the same way.
Its just insane to me that holy priests havent had any love yet this expansion and also get nothing in 10.07 and 10.1. Its by far the weakest m+ healer in the cooldown, damage and aoe healing department. Also they cant interrupt or aoe stun. Also its very wierd to me that holy paladins are only slightly above holy priests in the damage department. If anything i think melee healers should do the most damage.
Feels odd listening to this... I think holy paladin is the worst (personally) for m+. I feel like you're entirely at the mercy of how well your group plays. If your group dodges and kicks stuff, holy paladin is fine, if they don't though? absolute chaos and no tools to recover once behind. If holy shock doesn't crit or wings are down you do pitiful healing... Meanwhile, on my holy priest/Rdruid/MW/Rsham I feel like I can cover mistakes easily and essentially 'carry'. I feel the strongest on my Hpriest by far, a tool for every situation with strong heals. I almost quit healing at start of xpac because of hpal, once I swapped healers everything else was much easier/stronger feeling
Interesting to hear differing opinions so thanks for the comment. Did you play double Beacon or Virtue on your Hpal? I remember thinking Hpal felt really strong as I was gearing it up in a RLP because I had Virtue for every Inferno cast which trivialized the whole dungeon. How do you handle that mechanic on Hpriest? Does it feel well suited to those sort of party-wide damage patterns to you?
I agree. My hpal is around 2.1k io and I pug everything. You’re totally at the mercy of your group and with constant aoe dmg and avoidable dmg taken you can run out of resources very quick. Try healing a group whenever you have 0 holy power and virtue is on CD. It’s just impossible. I switched to casting mistweaver and solved all my issues. Between vivify cleave and strong single target heals I can almost always recover in these pug situations. Love my holy pally but you have to work infinitely harder than any other healer to heal.
@@RifeGaming I tried double beacon and virtue at the beginning. I honestly tried every build- melee, caster, maraad's. Nothing could recover a group properly imo. Hpriest I find quite easy to heal big AoE things. Mastery + trail of light is essentially AoE healing + HoT's combined, just spam flash of light/heal/power word's. A single PoM heals like 4x more than a LoD, can stack and have multiple out at once with renews and everything else. Power word: Life is just a fantastic carry tool imo, same with life grip. Pugs make mistakes nonstop, being able to instant 180k heal someone on like a 10sec Cd is just so good. Throw in a HW:Serenity and you have 2 people at full HP not to mention all the other tools.
100% agree on this. It is the worst pug healer. Bursting and explosive weeks are the worst for me. You don't have spammable heals like rdruid, rsham to keep the party up.
Gotta admit, Holy Paladin's utility is on point, but their HPS outside of Beacon is dogwater. DPS is probably the worst, and our healing rotation requires doing DPS 24/7. I've hit 2626 rating this Season on my Hpaladin, but I feel like my 395 ilvl Evoker can do 90% of my healing, and 300% of my DPS already. FoL and HL heals tanks for 5% of their HP, and building combo points in order to do healing feels bad. Our mastery has been gutted, and current iteration is stupid. Infusion of Light needs to be reworked ASAP. We're dead last in healing from the beginning of the expac, and I believe that Hpal has never been so bad.
Yes holy Paladin does feel so good.

For me it had such bad damage for the work you put in, the ring really makes it skyrocket now. Try it out, you'll probably like it.

@@DrJohnpiece The more I've played other healers the more I've noticed how strong MW single target healing is. Nothing else comes close.

Don't let the holy power/melee hpally haters on the forums hear you say you think hpally is well designed
