RIP James Gandolfini, oh how sad! Great interview under difficult circumstances though. Steve Schirripa is a remarkable guy! And I always love his New York accent…
Two great Italians, two great New Yorkers. Great hair, great tans, great accents, great passion for the Knicks and Yanks. Two great icons talking about the greatest icon of all. This interview always meant a lot to me - Steve’s love for Jimmy is so genuine, and Mike’s show was the best place to share it. Tony Soprano: “Why don’t you just announce it on WFAN?!”
It might of had something to do with a bonus he got on the Sopranos, where nobody else from the show was included, which he didn't think was fair. He decided to divide the check up evenly for the rest of the cast.
He definitely looks like he's holding back some critical information. Jim had no history of health problems so there's a good chance drugs were involved like so many other celebrity types.
The guy was on vacation with his son! Unfortunately the guy wasn't in the best of shape, so for you to assume it was drugs is out of line, man, you never when things are going to happen.
Sad that Bobby (or Steve if you like) almost every time when he's trying to explain what a good guy James Gandolfini was begins to talk about money: "he was a good guy because he gave the whole cast this much", "he was a good guy because he gave me 10 grand at some charity thing".
Why is that “sad”? It shows how good a top of the world actor is - Steve can’t portray the generosity of James to an audience like us by simply saying “he was great because he made me laugh and would always ask about my uncle” or whatever. He knows that something like that drives home the point the most. Especially since many stars you hear of (like JLO, Tom Cruise, etc) regularly treat their cast mates like shit with their diva antics. Not to mention this apparently was only a few days or weeks after James sudden death. Steve was probably still processing it all and those things stood out the most to him, so he felt the need to share it with as many people as possible.
James looked so full of life and his larger than life smile ! Hard to believe he is not here anymore.
Only knew him as an actor, still think about him every day..
Yeah, it's sad when they go young like that

I knew James in the 90's - he was good friends with my ex husband.
What a sweet heart. The best.
I cried like a kid when he died.
Did he struggle with the fame?
Sorry for your loss Carolyn

beautiful conversation. in 10 years some famous people have died that have been as much of a gut punch but none more so than gandolfini's death.

SOMEONE needs to shut up and it's NOT Steve Schirripa.

thor4644, he was on vacation with his son, ya stooge! Who are you to make that judgment that it was drugs that killed him?! Loser.
Steve should keep his hate for Tommy Lasorda's stories to himself.
