Had the wonderful experience of sitting second row center for an Armstrong performance just following his European tour. What a performance - I measure all performances against Satch's and nothing but nothing touches him.
Yeah AND the eighth and sixteenth note run at measure 19 is actually an F instead of an Eb because you can clearly hear that the note doesn't change in the recording after the quarter note F...playing it as written just sounds bad...Feeling like I have almost split a lip in this range, though. Louis is awesome!!!
***** He does this to achieve the trill to the above partial. Just shaking the instrument will only give you a very fast, wide vibrato. Louis is shaking the instrument enough to displace his embouchere and reach the next above partial.
Nice work. Sorry, but.... in the WRONG KEY! Louis played it on nearly of his records in A for Bb-trumpet and not Bb. Bar 18 for example false fingering with triples could be done easily and was used by Louis in his solos from the Twenties on like in Big Butter and Egg Man or Potato Head Blues but not in the transcribed wrong key. Controll my comment and see and listen to Louis in other clips performing Live >When The Saints.
The song is written in concert Ab - you transpose up a whole step for trumpet. Louis played in Ab Concert on all of the youtube videos I can find. Just take the L
his vibrato so freakin insane
Greatest trumpeter of all time.

REalmente! eu tenho que estudar muito essas levadas! mas eu chego la!
Muito bom
Que grande Satchmo!!!!
The Eb tremelo is actually on a D. You can do it by pressing the 1 key, then pushing down 3 for the quick effect almost like flutter tongue.
its an f but okay

Can you do the trombone part?
Please I need the piece
I need sing this song in my school ._.
Does anyone know how to produce that extreme vibrato he used? It sounds almost like a shake on every long note
+Ian Lazan It is a shake. He's trilling to the next partial up.
It is a vibrato it's just his kind of vibrato. The way he does it is a really really fast vibrato watch Eric Miyashiro he did a tutorial on how
Try jaw and diaphragm vibrato at the same time.
I heard it was called the "graveyard vibrato". That doesn't help.

Is he using a mute or is it just the trumpet or does he mouthpiece affect the sound of his trumpet ( not the middle part)
its his style, not a mute, perhaps the trumpet itself sounds a bit muted, but he didnt tend to use one
I play trumpet and I have been working on that piece now and this was a good play I can reach the way up to g ab c d e
Who gives a rip!!
easy, easy, pas sur !!!!

to be fair, bar 18 is still possible as a tremelo/false fingering
Really, Bix?? ....Wrong Key ?? Really???....Who gives a rats ass. Try playing it in Concert key of C# Major...Sheesh !!!!

En Ajax 1 is kampioen
Quite a few wrong notes in this.
Randy Howard I think ur triggered cause u can't do better or play it
Not triggered at all. Just pointing out some of the notes are incorrect. Listen to it closely. It's fairly obvious.
"Triggered" LOL. The way these millennials use the English language is a riot.
wrongs notes as in notation?
Cole Chisholm Yes!
Wrong key, wrong transcription! Concert G was always the key Louis Armstrong used to play the tune from the Thirties to his end.
Concert "F" G for Trumpet, correct?
Bix Bolden 9
Instead of vib. write "shake" Instead or put a trill line (with no "tr")
This is amazing, but I would say slight overkill on the vibrato
overkill? Its Louis armstrong man this is what he's known for. Improv away,
Hes too young to understand sadly
They're more like trills.
This song isn’t great
