  • A bicycle ride along Torggata from Oslo Cathedral to Hausmanns gate (just South of Anker Bridge) in Oslo, Norway (September 2023). Highlights include a pedestrian street, bicycle signal light, placemaking, public squares, traffic diversions and an Oslo city bike station (OBOS).
Our ride begins across the street from the Oslo Cathedral at the beginning of the pedestrian street. We ride North through a busy shopping street lined with shops and restaurants. Next we arrive at Youngstorget (designed in 1846) which is a public square used for markets, fairs and concerts. Following this, we pass bike racks, traffic diversions and more pedestrian space until we arrive at the next public square. Arbeidersamfunnets plass is a fantastic public space with seating, bike parking and an Oslo city bike station (OBOS). The square is also located across the street from Oslo Street Food which is a great spot to get lunch. The remainder of the ride continues Northbound past more examples of traffic diversions (bollards) and a lively street with shops and restaurants.
Length of pedestrian street ride (approx): 700m
