I have a 98 s10 4 cyl and my engine is hard to start at times. I went to auto zone and had the codes read. They say PO304 Cylinder 4 misfire detected and PO442 (x2) evaporative emission system leak detected (small leak) and at the top of the paper it says Replace ignition control module (ICM) Is that what you are showing? the coil pack? I will try to get my son to help me but wasn't sure what to buy or where it was located. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Ignition control module is only on the 6 cylinders......as I notice...could b wrong....I WAS WORKING ON THE 4 CYCLINDER TRUCK JUS NOW....AND I SAW NO ICM....IGNITION CONTROL MODULE.....GUESS ITS BUILDED INTO THE COIL PACK....BUT LET ME GET MORE KNOWLEDGE
I also noticed, after taking a closer look, he has two connections to the metal piece using as air flow....I think he did a lot more to the air intake system 🤔 😉.....please let us know
Got my S10LS 5 speed 2.2 1999 put new spark plugs don't know no got to much power got new clutch to motor got little be vibration don't know can be cable o the coil that's my first S10 got don't nothing this true any body can let me know can be thank good vídeo
Theres alot of oil underneath that little truck!!! And a misfire code wont show up until you accelerate.you should have gassed it or drove it to see if the check engine light was still flashing! Did it fix it? Or was it a bad valve????
The coil packs on an S10 are one of the easiest things on the truck to replace. Remove the passenger side tire, lift the debris screen, and they are right there. Two small bolts attach each pack to the module. Replacing both of them is about a 30 minute job.
@@404ALEX the 4.3 liters don't have the same coil packe...and different area...I should know I own 4 cylinders and 6 cylinders....and by the way 6 cyc(4.3 litres) engine don't mostly give misfire problems...let me know 🤫🤔
That wouldn't be a bad idea. I bet you could just the male side of the harness wire, extend the wire with the same gauge, mount the coil packs somewhere else, and plug everything in. One to keep in mind is the location of where you mount the coil packs as you need the spark plug wires to reach.
@@AEON. i said the same thing .. that's why my truck mis fire on random start ups..I need to relocate mines to because that is the worst place to mount coil packs .. even on the lt1 engines distributer is in the tire well area.. that's stupid
Yea I just changed my spark plugs and bam right away it’s starts misfiring and the service engine lights starts to flash right away. I didn’t have problems with it until I changed the spark plugs. Mine is a 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada. I’m about to check every spark plug to see which one is wet
I removed it as I was replacing both coil packs. It was 3 large bolts versus 4 small bolts in a very small area. I thought it was a lot easier to do it this way and it is the way I would recommend. Thanks for watching!
@@ChadWilliamsFixesAll take a peek through your wheel well, they're right there. You have it jacked up anyway, zip the lugs off and go in that way. You can see each bolt you're working on vs feeling for them from underneath.
Hey! I had a 2.2 SFI Engine. It was a 2000 Chevy S10. The coilpacks I put on the truck were from a Cavalier because they share the same engine. I hope that helps!
Annie Gibson you can easily do this job yourself just mark on the wires starting from the bottom up 4132 that’s the order that it fires and goes back on for your wires
I have a 97 s10 but him having a hard time finding what size sockets I need is there anyone that knows more than i do that could help?
5.5 mm for the coil packs.

Ignition control module 🤔I am on it

But to answer ur question....ICM...IS NOT COIL PACKS
Is the module near the coilpack
i had a misfire but turns out my last spark plug wire snapped in half .... i changed o2 sensor, both coil packs , .
What modification did you make there with the air intake? Looks good and gets rid of a lot of clutter!
I notice it also.....I believe he replace the plastic with metal....housing and power flow exhaust system....just a guess🤷

I wonder if Accel makes aftermarket coils with more spark for the 2.2?
I got durlast Gold
If you take tire off go right through finder
im having the same problem with my 1998

Can the coil packs be relocated to a less pain in the ass location?

you could remove the wheel and hve easier access

Just take the left tire off next time
that would be the right front tire. you go by vehicle side not which side looking from the front facing towards the rear of the vehicle.
@@paulk5311I would say passenger front tire.
